A Day with Derpy

The choir of birds and a tiny red sun ray entered through the window. Derpy opened one of her eyes. I really have strange dreams,” she thought. And it was true, because she dreamed that Fluttershy had turned into an enormous monster that almost ate her, but then a muffin-made Discord arrived and told her that that was his episode, and well, it was a strange dream.

She woke up, and then she went to wake up Dinky.

“Come on , my little muffin. It’s time to go to school,” she told her. Then she went to her bathroom and took a shower.

When she got downstairs dinky was already there, eating her usual chocolate muffin. She poured herself a cup of milk and drank from it.

“Mom, I’m ready.”

“Ready? Ready for what, Dinky?”

“I’m going to ask the Cutie Mark Crusaders if I can join their club!”

“I’m so happy about that. Good Luck!”

Dinky finished her muffin and took her backpack.

“Hurry up, mom! I’m going to be late!”

Derpy grabbed her mailmare cap and saddlebag, and a muffin to eat on the way, and left the house.

“Good bye, mom,” Dinky said as she kissed Derpy’s cheek in front of the school.

“See you later, my little muffin!” Derpy said and she watched Dinky enter the school.

Well, now is my time to go to work, Derpy thought, and she flew to the post office.

She picked up the letters and packages and let them to their owners. She had to take many exotic things, like a new pair of glasses for Vinyl Scratch, a letter from somepony called Fancy Pants to Rarity (that happened to be decorated with a lot of little hearts, by the way), a dozen books for Twilight, a new tuba for Pinkie Pie, and the strangest of all, a monkey for Lyra.

She was returning from Sweet Apple Acres to the post office when a prickly bush ripped her saddlebag.

“Oh, no! I can’t deliver the letters with a broken saddlebag! Wait, Carrousel Boutique is near here!” Derpy remembered.

She flew straight to Carrousel Boutique, hugging her saddlebag to prevent the letters falling out from it. She rang the bell.

“Hi, Derpy,” Rarity said, “What can I do for you?”

“Can you help with this?” Derpy showed her the rip in the bag

“Of course, come in!”

Derpy entered the boutique and Rarity grabbed the bag in her magic.

“Wow, Rarity! Those designs are wonderful!”

“Thank you, Derpy. They are part of my new line.”

“I can’t wait for it to come out!”

Rarity gave Derpy her saddlebag completely repaired, as if nothing had ever happened.

“Here it is”

“Thanks, Rarity. How much do I owe you?”

“It’s a gift”

“Seriously?”

“Yes, I did nothing”

“Thanks! You’re great!”

With her saddlebag useful again, Derpy finished with all her deliveries just in time to pick up Dinky from school.

They were on their way home when Derpy asked:

“Hey, Dinky, did you ask the Crusaders to join their club?”

Dinky didn’t answer.

“Are you ok?” Derpy stopped and looked Dinky to her eyes.

“No… I didn’t ask”

“Well, that’s why tomorrows exist, isn’t it?”

“Yeah… I guess…” Dinky smiled.

After eating and helping Dinky with her homework, Derpy was about to read a book when Dinky asked:

“Hey mom, did you ask the Doctor to be your special somepony?”

“Well… That’s why tomorrows exist!” Derpy answered, and they both laughed.

When Derpy went to bed, just before falling asleep, she promised herself to tell the Doctor to be her special somepony the next day…
