the world we once knew....(edited)
'Love and tolerance. It's all a lie...' I thought, trying desperately to avoid the hail of deadly shrapnel that whizzed by me as I sprinted through the fields. 'Now they're hunting me. I can't stay, but where do I go? Maybe I should stay, make a heroic last stand, go out with a bang... No,I have to spread the word... I have to run.' So I did just that. As I ran, bullets impacted the ground all around me, as my former brothers and sisters in arms fired at me, shooting to kill. That broke my heart more than what I learned about Equestria.
Then I saw the most terrifying thing my country had to offer: the Shock Troopers. They were remorseless, soulless, some ponies didn't even think that they were alive. that they were just cadavers, infused with the blackest of magics, and specially trained to deal with threats to the state. Threats like me.
I turned to the right to avoid them, but they started shooting. They don't normally miss, and a moving target was no problem for them. I gasped as I felt four massive blows to my hind legs, almost causing me to collapse. 'I have to keep running. Have to keep going. Have to get away.' I thought as I ran for the forest, falling at it's edge. I stood back up, despite the pain in my legs from the bullet wounds, and ran as fast as my weakened body could carry me.
I don't know how long it had been when I collapsed, but I couldn't see the camp, so I thought that was okay. 'At least they would have to tire themselves out before they kill me' I thought, unslinging my rifle. I sat there, rifle raised, waiting to be found.
'I wonder how my little sister, Scootaloo, is doing...' I thought. 'No. I have to keep going, for her...' I stood once again and started off more slowly, keeping alert for any sign of those black suited psychopaths. They say the eyes are windows to the soul, and I've seen their eyes, if you could call them that. They were dull, colourless orbs that held no emotion, except for grim determination when they were given an order. They had no souls, no empathy or even any emotions. They were the essence of Death himself in pony form.
I had to reach Ponyville, or they would do things I couldn't imagine to me. And if they ever found out that I had a sister, they would do the same thing to her, as she 'aided a fugitive'. I had to stop them, I had to kill them all.
---Everfree Forest, 5 hours later--
'I'm almost there.' I thought, hobbling through the dense forest. I could just make out the lights of the small town through the trees. 'I just need to go a few more miles...'
I was certainly bleeding, but I couldn't stop. I had to save her! I could see the town now. I could see our house... Just one more mile!
After 42 agonisingly long minutes, I was but a few hundred meters away. I tried to lift my weary legs, but collapsed, feeling the pain, the tiredness and the coldness for the first time since I started running.
I looked at my body and saw about 9 bleeding wounds, each holding a small piece of lead. There were probably more that I couldn't see at the moment. It was all I could do not to scream, but I realised that I was close enough for her to hear me; I told her to leave her window open every night, because one day I would come back, reveilles playing behind me as I trotted home a hero. Instead I would come home a renegade, hunted by the military, to the sound of my death scream.
I then realized that I had failed, and I would die here, but 4 hundred meters from my little sister's bedroom. I screamed, hoping she would come in time to be there when I finally died.
**Scootaloo's pov**
I heard a scream of agony and sorrow outside my bedroom window. I jumped out of bed, hoof going to the small combat knife I had under my pillow, for protection. My sister had given it to me before she left. I missed her,and I wished she'd come home.
I ran out of the small shack that my sister had helped repair, with my help of course, and saw something that shocked me to my very core. My sister lay in blood stained armour, her body riddled with bleeding bullet holes. I gagged at the sight, and smell, of her, but I rushed to her aid. I realised that I didn't have any bandages, so I did the first thing I could think of. I took off towards the house, and grabbed a shirt that I had left out on the washing line. I tore strips of cloth off of it and wrapped them around her as makeshift bandages.
"Please, please, don't die! Please!" I begged, as she lay there on the ground.
Then I remembered the hospital. I tried to pick her up, but she was way too heavy. I thought about it for a moment, and realised that I would never be able to carry her, so I bit down on her tail, and dragged her.

--3 hours later,ponyville hospital--
I awoke on a comfortable bed in a white room. 'wait a minute...' I thought, realising where I was. 'This is a hospital! They caught me and they were going to turn me into one of those shock troopers!'
I thrashed and kicked but realised that I wasn't restrained. 'Their mistake.' I thought.
I was about to jump up and run when I heard a familiar voice call out:
"Silver, you're alive!" Scootaloo shouted, running over from her chair to hug me.
"Scootaloo! You're okay!" I shouted, hugging her close to me. I gasped as I felt a terrible pain in my hind legs.
"What happened?! I found you passed out near our house with a lot of bullet wounds!" She asked, worriedly.
"I found out the truth, so Celestia tried to have me killed. But, luckily, I escaped." I explained.
"What are you talking about? What do you mean 'you found out the truth'?"she asked, confusion obvious in her voice.
"I'll explain later, but I think I lost the guys chasing me. They probably think they killed me. I think I have a few months before they start looking for me." I said, answering the last 2 questions. "I'll tell you what I learned later, right now I'd like to spend some time with you and our friends." I said, trying to stand, only to have her push me down.
"No, the doctors say you aren't fit to leave yet!" she said frantically, holding me down.
"If I can walk for more than 5 hours, nearly a dozen bullets in me on nothing but determination and adrenaline, I think I can walk around town with a dose of painkillers in me."I said, reassuringly.
"Well... okay. I obviously can't change your mind,so we have to sneak you past the doctors." She said, giving in to my logic.
"Simple." I said. "Window." I said pointing toward my room's window.
"I see you're still as crazy as ever..." she said happily.
"Sure am." I said, climbing out of the bed and out the window, landing with a dull thud.
Scootaloo came around the normal way and met up with me outside a few minutes later.
"Who should we see first?"I asked.
"Remember that unicorn I told you about in my letters? Twilight Sparkle?"she asked.
"Yeah, the librarian... Are you sure that's a good idea? The princess put a hit on me and her most faithful student probably already knows...." I said, worried.
"It's fine, she wouldn't tell the princess, I know she wouldn't" Scootaloo reassured me.
"If you think it's a good idea..." I said. And with that we headed off for the golden oaks library.
