Waking Up

Crash!

Thump!

I wake up from what feels like a horrible nightmare. I have no memory of where I was or how I got to this certain spot. I look around to get a look to my surroundings. First off, I need to at least figure out where I am. All I see are some cottages and a fountain. Well that was no help, I think to myself.Where am I? Who am I? I look down to see my white hooves. Well at least I sort of know what I look like. A few seconds later I hear a voice from behind me.

"Hey there, you okay?" the voice asks. I spin around and see a pony with a blue and white mane.

Being lost in my own thoughts and not seeing her behind me, I was sort of shocked at first. I quickly composed myself and said, "Yeah I’m doing just fine... Where am I exactly?"

The blue maned pony smiles and says, "You’re in Ponyville. Are you not from around here or something?"

"No, I’m not, at least I don’t think I am.”

She looks at me confused and says, "Well my name is Minuette, but everypony calls me Colgate."

I smile and say, "Pleased to meet you. My name is... is..." I can’t remember my name. “Erm... I cant remember my name... sorry. I guess I have a little bit of amnesia. I don’t even remember how I ended up here.”

Colgate looks at me funny. "Well we can skip names for right now.” She thinks for a moment and says, “Maybe I can give you a tour of Ponyville? That can possibly jog your memory!"

I think for a moment and decide that it’s a good idea. After all, it beats my idea of sitting around and doing nothing. I nod my head and she smiles. We both walk off as she begins her tour of Ponyville.

Colgate walks me around to all of the stores, all of the food places, and even towards a forest that looks rather terrifying. During our walk I decide to strike up a conversation.

“So....” my mind completely draws a blank of what to say. Colgate looks at me and giggles.

“Here, I can point out a few ponies to you. That might bring your memory back!”

I nod my head and Colgate starts pointing out a few ponies around town.

She first points out a red stallion that’s pulling a cart. “Over there is Big Mac. He works on Sweet Apple Acres with his family.” She points over towards two mares walking with each other. “That’s Lyra and Bon Bon. They’re best friends and are almost inseparable, so you’ll probably see them together all the time.” She looks over and points to a grey pony with a blonde mane. Her back is turned to us, filling a mailbox with letters. “Over there is Derpy, she delivers mail for all of us. She’s really friendly, but she can be clumsy at times.”

I look at Colgate confused, “Why is her name Derpy?” The minute I say that, Derpy faces us and I figure out quickly why her name is Derpy. Her eyes are askew, looking off into opposite directions. She has a smile, nonetheless, as if she’s not bothered by her predicament or even cares. I look away, feeling awkward for staring at her. She continue the tour. I am thankful for not get getting caught staring.

After Colgate’s entire tour, she looks at me and says, "Did any of the places jog your memory?" I shake my head. I still have no clue who I am or where I am from. She sighs and thinks to herself for a few moments.

"Here, let me take you to Twilight. She lives in the library here in Ponyville, and she can usually figure out these types of things.” I nod and follow her to Ponyville’s library.

As Colgate and I walk towards the library, I feel something run into my leg. I look down to see  a group of fillies. They all looked like they were on a mission.

“Sorry about that sir!” the yellow one says to me with a slight southern accent.

I smile and say, “Oh, its alright. Why are you three in such a rush?”

The orange one says, “We’re going down to the lake to get our cutie marks in synchronized swimming!!!”

I smile and say, “Alright, well have fun with that.”

The three of them smile and run off.

Colgate starts to laugh as we continue walking. “Those three call themselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders. They’re always coming with crazy ways to get their cutie marks. The orange one is named Scootaloo, the yellow one is Applebloom, and the white one is Sweetie Belle. Honestly, if you ask me, I think Sweetie Belle’s talent is singing. ”

"Well, whatever it may be, I hope it doesn't involve me around whatever they do. They seem too rambunctious for me at the moment."

Colgate laughs at that before continuing your walk to the library. While we walk, she points out some other places along the way like the Quills and Sofas store and Sugarcube Corner. She offers to take me to Sugarcube Corner if we ever have the chance. I find it a little weird that she would be offering a complete stranger like me out , but I don't say anything. After a while we eventually we make it to the library.

I can hear sounds of books hitting the ground and somepony running around. Colgate rolls her eyes and says, “Sounds like Twilight is looking for a missing book again.” She giggles and opens the door. A purple pony, who I assume is Twilight, is running around the library in a state of panic.

“Oh dear! Oh where is it?!?” She says as she runs around the library. Colgate smiles and walks into the library with me following.

        “What’s wrong, Twilight?” she asks.

Twilight turns around and answers, “Oh, I can’t find my book that Celestia lent me, and I promised her that I would return it today!” She continues searching frantically, pulling books off of the shelves with her magic and throwing the ones she didn't want across the room. Colgate looks at me and smiles.

She turns to Twilight and says, “Twilight, you didn’t even notice my friend.” Twilight turns around and looks directly at me

Twilight turns red and smiles sheepishly. She starts to levitate the books back o the shelf and chuckles nervously, “Sorry you had to see that. I tend to lose it if I'm close to a due date. Anyways, my name is Twilight Sparkle. What’s yours?”

“I don’t know.” I say, feeling stupid. She looks at me like I’m crazy, then realizes that I’m telling the truth.

“Do you know where you live?” she asks.

        “No,” I answer.

She turns to Colgate and asks, “How did you meet him?” Colgate explains to her how we met and how I told her about not knowing anything about my past.

Twilight thinks to herself, “Well I could ask Celestia if she knows any type of memory spell.” She turns around and yells up the stairs, “SPIKE!!!!”

A faint voice is heard. “Coming!” the voice says. It sounds young and I figured it was a younger colt. I jump back five feet and knock some books off of the shelf when I see a dragon walk into the room instead. He looks at me and laughs, helping me pick up the books I knocked over.

“Don’t worry,” he says, “I’m a friendly dragon. What did you need, Twilight?”

“I need you to send a letter to Celestia for me. Tell her we met a white pegasus with a green mane that can’t remember any part of his past, and that I would like to request a memory spell.” Spike writes the letter as she says it before lighting it on fire with his breath, the note turning to ashes. I watch in amazement by how the ashes fly perfectly out the window. Twilight smiles and looks over at Colgate and me.

“It might take the princess a while to answer. In the meantime my friends and I are going to have a picnic by the lake. If you want, you can join us while we wait for a response from the princess?”

Colgate looks over to me and asks, “Well, do you want to?”

I amfeeling pretty hungry, and it would be nice to at least meet a few new faces while I’m trying to remember who I am. I nod, accepting her invitation.

Colgate smiles and says, “Sure, Twilight. We’d like to join you on your picnic”

Twilight says, “Great! Follow me, I’m sure my friends would love to meet you!”
