"I found it!"
The pink mare's words echoed throughout the field. She had been searching for days, weeks, possibly even a month or two? She couldn't remember. A very special rock stood in front of her, as it had the power to grant one wish to the pony that found it. She'd had a lot of time to think about what the wish was going to be and had finally figured out what it was going to be. "A yew-toe-pee-ya." She drew out the word, getting a feel for it. She had only learned it a few days ago.
She took a deep breath and focused all her energy into her wish. " I wish that Ponyville was a utopia!" She said it loud and clear, closing her eyes as a bright white light shot out from the rock. She opened her eyes once the light had vanished, and realised the rock had vanished as well. She beamed and bounced around a bit, feeling very excited at what she had done.
She raced back to Ponyville as fast as she could. Spying a rainbow mane, she ran towards it shouting "Dashie! Dashie! You'll never guess what I did!" But she stopped in her tracks as she noticed something was wrong. Whether she noticed the dress or the hair first, we'll never know. But whichever one she noticed was enough to make her feel uncomfortable.
Rainbow Dash's hair wasn't the usual cut short jagged hairstyle that only seemed to suit her, instead it was curly and long and flowed down to her chest. The dress was a lovely white lacy dress, accented by the colour brown. While it looked good on her, the fact that she was wearing one was unsettling. Was this some kind of prank? Everypony knows that Rainbow Dash plus a dress equals impossible! Well... Except for her gala dress, but she only really wore it once.
"Uhhh, Dashie? Why are you wearing a dress? And what's up with your hair?" Rainbow Dash turned to face her, looking puzzled. "I did brush my hair for an extra ten minutes this morning, I didn't think anypony would notice though." Rainbow Dash replied. No, this wasn't Rainbow Dash! This must be... Imposter Dash! "Alright, this joke is really funny, knock it off now." Pinkie Pie was starting to get concerned. This was way too well pulled off to be a simple prank. She glanced at the crowd, judging to see if there were any laughing ponies. Then she gasped. Every single pony in the crowd had the same hairstyle, and they were all wearing dresses. "Well I have to go now Pinkie, see you around!" Imposter Dash waltzed off into the crowd, making light banter when she could.
Pinkie was confused. Why would the whole town play a prank on her? Was this a holiday of sorts? Was it Prank Pinkie Pie Day (or PPP Day for short,) today? Maybe she should visit Twilight? Twilight was never the kind of pony to play tricks on people, so she knew she'd get an honest answer from her.
She made her way through the sea of ponies in dresses until she got to Twilight's tree house. She knocked on the door, hoping that this wasn't some sort of contagious disease. Unfortunately, a long-haired and lacy-dressed Twilight answered the door. "Can I help you, Pinkie?"
"Oh no! Not you Twilight! Not you!" Pinkie resisted the urge to violently shake some sense into Twilight.
"Not me? Well I guess if I can't help you, you'll have to find someone else." Twilight closed the door and Pinkie Pie just stood there with her mouth wide open. This disease had even gotten to Twilight! She had to find someone, anyone who wasn't like this! This ugly fashion was everywhere! Fashion... Rarity! Of course! How on earth could Rarity change? She was already like this. Well, she had better style than that. Had she just insulted Rarity?
Pinkie ran through the crowd of long-haired ponies until she saw the top of the boutique poking out from a row of buildings. she slowed to a walk until finally stopping at the door. She knocked on the door, hoping that Rarity could at least help. But what if Rarity had already been consumed by this disease?
She closed her eyes as the door opened. Pinkie counted to three and opened her eyes. Her mane promptly deflated. "You're here! Thank goodness! I honestly thought you were going to be late! Come along now, we don't have any time to lose!" Rarity grabbed pinkie by the hoof and dragged her into the boutique. "I am so glad you decided to let me give you a makeover for the tea party! Honestly, I was a little upset when you showed up like that last time. But you know, what are friends for? So anyways..." Rarity kept going on and on as she led Pinkie through a sea of ponyquins wearing dresses. They were all exactly the same style, the only defining feature was that the colours were different.
Rarity stopped in front of a vibrant orange dress. "Here it is! Lovely isn't it? Now go try it on and let me see you in it!" Rarity pushed Pinkie into a changing booth along with the dress. A few minutes later, a sad but stylish looking Pinkie emerged from the changing booth. "You look fabulous!" Rarity commented. "Now, I was going to do your hair, but we're going to be late!" Rarity busted out of the boutique and began rushing towards the park, once again dragging a pink pony behind her.
After a short while of being dragged around like a limp doll, Pinkie was at the park. The cups, saucers and teapot were already set up and all of her friends (Including Imposter Dash) were already seated around the table. Pinkie was about to sit down and hope this was a bad dream when she noticed something strange yet again. Everything (including the table) was either pink, purple or a mixture of both. She didn't have a problem with any of these colours, she was PINK-ie Pie after all and Twilight was purple (lavender she called it, but is there really that big of a difference?), but having everything pink or purple was a bit of an overkill.
And since when did she and her friends wear dresses and have tea parties? Why was everything so messed up? Pinkie stared at her purple teacup with a pink handle in silence. Her friends weren't even her friends anymore, it's like somepony had taken a vacuum and had sucked their personalities away. And yet, here they were, sitting in front of her. They were complimenting each others dresses and sipping tea from a purple and pink teacup. Even Imposter Dash was here, acting as if she'd been like this her whole life. At that moment something inside of Pinkie snapped, and she was filled with anger that ran through her blood like lava. "Stop!" She shouted, "You aren't my friends! You're just a bunch of cardboard cutouts! Be original again! Wear hats! Don't comb your hair for half an hour every morning! In fact, why not cut it short? Just stop acting like this!"
"Whatever do you mean? We-" Rarity began, but never got to finish as the table was flipped. It smacked her right in the face.
"Ah!" Rarity stumbled backwards, a commonly known red liquid dribbling down her face. "She's- She's lost it!" Rarity screamed before running off, her imposter friends following shortly after. "And don't come back until you're my friends again!" Pinkie screamed after them. As the boiling rage that slipped through every thought and action cooled down, a new feeling flowed in. One Pinkie hadn't felt for a long time, sadness. No, this felt even worse than sadness, like a rainstorm that might last forever. She set off walking, learning once again what tears felt like.
"There she is!" She heard a familiar voice. The voice of her good friend Rarity. Except, Rarity was no longer herself. She turned to see all of her "friends" standing next to two strong looking stallions. "Stay back! Loony ponies can be dangerous, you never know what they might do next!" The words came from one of the stallions, the one not holding the straitjacket. Pinkie turned away, to see that rock. The rock that had caused all of this. "I wish everything was back to the way it was." She said, but not with the cheer that defined her. She thought that she had been lucky to find the rock again, but that was just a glimmer of hope.
The rock only let ponies make one wish.
There was no resistance as Pinkie was put into the straitjacket, nor was their any talking or emotion. There was just this empty shell of a once cheery pony. She sat in her cell, letting the last of her sanity go as she slipped away from reality, into another world were she could be with her friends again.
One pony had been left an insane depressed mess. The other five were all cardboard cutouts, never to understand how to be different or who they were before.
