Chapter One: Another World
My name is Derpy Hooves. I don't now how I got here. I went to sleep in the same place that I always do: on a cloud, over the hustle and bustle of the late-night part of Ponyville. I woke up in a alleyway that I had never before. One glance told me it was not Ponyville. The narrow street was littered with garbage, and stray cats wandered amongst the heaps of waste. The buildings sandwiching it together were gray and stained with graffiti and burn marks. I got to my feet- wait. My feet? I looked down and saw that my...erm...legs...were standing in place of my gray hooves. I turned around to a broken mirror and saw...I don't even know what I saw. I looked like one of the drawings in the biology book I read when I was a filly. My head is framed by chin-lenght blond hair, and my eyes were just like mine in Equestria- an amber color. My eyes are no longer crossed, though. My skin is a coffee color, and bore scratches and scars. Another glimpse told me I wore a gray V-neck tee shirt, jean shorts, and sandals. I don't know how I know all this, but when I looked at the gray sky, another word came to mind- Earth.
My name is Big Macintosh. I have no idea how I got to Earth. Hell, I don't even know how I know it is Earth. All I know is that one night I'm asleep in a motel room in the nightclub part of Ponyville, and the next, I'm awake on a rooftop on Earth. I'm a human too. Did I mention that? My mane has morphed into a blond tuft of messy hair on my head, and my skin is that pale, tan color that I might have acquired on the farm...but I was a pony then. Anyway, I had to get off this roof. Crossing the gravel-coated surface, I found a ladder. It was a simple service ladder, leading down into an alleyway, but it was good enough. Once my booted feet struck the surface of the alley, I noticed that a girl was there, among the trash. Surprisingly, she looked like what I imagined Ditzy Doo (Derpy, whatever) would look like as a human. But I shrugged that thought away. No use thinking about the past.
