She Said "I Love You."
Never The End
Previous ChapterRainbow Dash paced the small room, trying to untie her damn necktie so she could fucking breathe. She had already flung the windows open to try getting some fresh air in the room, but it didn’t seem to help. She was panicking, and the walls were clearly closing in on her.
There was knock from the door. “Rainbow?” It was Twilight. “I’m coming in.” She made her way into the room and closed the door behind her. She was wearing an elegantly simple purple and blue dress, and her hair was done up. She saw the panicked look on Dash’s face, and forced her to sit down.
“Calm down Dash, just breathe. Calm down.”
“Easy for you to say. What the hell am I doing, Twi? Everyone knows I can’t handle this. I know it, you know it, everyone fucking knows it! I’m gonna die out there!”
“You’re not going to die…”
“I’m literally gonna die!”
“Just take a breath, here.” She untied Dash’s tie and unbuttoned her collar button. “Just breathe.”
Dash took a few deep breaths before speaking. “You think I can do this?”
“Yes.”
“You think I should do this?”
“Dash, if you weren’t panicking that wouldn’t even be a question.”
“Okay… okay… I need a drink.”
“Later Dash, there’s an open bar. Come on, we’re all waiting for you.”
“Give me a minute.” She pulled a small photo out of her back pocket. It was a cheap photo from a carnival booth, taken nearly a year ago. The photo showed AJ with her arm around Dash’s shoulders, kissing her. Dash put the photo back into her pocket. “Okay.”
She turned to Twilight with a grin. “I’m gonna get married.”
They had the service at Sweet Apple Acres. The sun was high in the sky, and the leaves were blazing orange, rustling in the fall wind. Chairs were set in rows, and a path led to a small arch where Dash stood. She was wearing a white tuxedo. Even on her wedding day, she wasn’t going to get caught dead in a dress.
A sudden bout of movement and the sound of people turning in their chairs behind her told Dash that Applejack had appeared on the path. She glanced at her friends, who were all acting as the maids of honor. They were looking past Dash and whispering to one another. The curiosity finally got the better of Dash, and she turned to look.
Applejack was simply stunning. She was wearing a slim, sleeveless dress that cut off at her ankles. The embroidery was simple, but dazzled in the sun. Her veil was likewise simple, but the combined effect of the sun and her simple beauty made her absolutely gorgeous. Rarity had been working on the dress for a month before Dash and AJ even announced their engagement. It’s like she had already known.
Big Macintosh led Applejack down the aisle, preceded by Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle; the flower girls. AJ’s eyes met Dash’s, and any anxiety Dash still had was gone.
Applejack stood next to Dash, and the service started. Soon, they exchanged their vows, and Apple Bloom presented their rings. Rarity and Pinkie Pie were sobbing, Twilight was beaming, and Fluttershy was trying to smile, but looked uncomfortable being in front of so many people. Dash was slipping a ring onto Applejack’s finger, and felt her stomach knot up. She looked once more into AJ’s eyes and the anxiety was gone. She raised the veil, and kissed her new bride.
She had never been happier.
