Twilight had been missing for a few months. Though when she makes her first appearance, no one expected her to be working for Nightmare Moon, as her new apprentice. Though it's not like she wanted to, anyways.

Forced into an apprenticeship, Twilight couldn't imagine anything going worse. If she doesn't do whatever Nightmare Moon says, not only is she hurt, but her brother dies. She could take the pain, but losing her brother? She couldn't imagine.

So now she does whatever she's told. And she will hurt her friends, no matter how much she doesn't want to.
