The Nightmares of Equestria

Chapter 1: Good Vibrations

Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy were all gathered around Twilight as she completed Starswirl the Bearded's unfinished spell. "From all of us together, together we are friends, with the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end!" Twilight said.

As she closed the book and set it down on the table, she felt something vibrating in her tiara. She thought, "Why is my tiara vibrating? Is it broken? Is there a book I should read on do-it-yourself Element of Harmony repair? Should 'Elements of Harmony' be capitalized? Is it a crown or a tiara???" What Twilight was unaware of was that the five other ponies in the room were experiencing the same curious feeling in their respective elements. Though they weren't all thinking about it in the same way...

Rarity's thoughts: "I simply can't understand how my hair was sopping wet one minute, then looking freshly styled the next. Wait, we are certainly not fighting some raucous evildoer, so why is my lovely necklace vibrating?"

Rainbow's thoughts: "Geez, do all spells sound that dopey, or is it just Twilight being an egghead? Hey, are these necklace thingies supposed to vibrate?"

Fluttershy's thoughts: "It sure was nice of Twilight to help us rediscover our true selves by having us preform acts of kindness or helpfulness. I hope  she doesn't get offended that I haven't done anything in return! Eeep! Why is my necklace vibrating? Did I do something wrong? Am I going to explode?"

Applejack's thoughts: "Wow, that sure was some fancy magical stuff Twilight pulled there. Ah wonder if she got tired from all that- what in tarnation is happenin' with mah necklace?"

Pinkie Pie's thoughts: "Ooh! Yay my turn to have my to have my deepest and most personal thoughts laid out for all to see! I hope that there aren't meaniepants that want to look at them- hey, that tickles! My necklace is tickling me, oh that's so cool!"

Then, suddenly with a blast of light and magic, they were gone! Spike, who had been looking on and wondering what the jewels in their necklaces would taste like, let loose a scream that would rival one of a horror movie actress's. Then he turned to Owlowiscious and said, "Well, we have to wait 24 hours to file a missing pony report, and Twilight will probably be back before then." Owlowiscious face-winged, and went back to sleep.

Meanwhile, in Celestia's chambers

Luna was looking out her telescope at the beautiful sunset and stood on the balcony, ready to take flight into the heavens and raise the moon, she stopped. She had witnessed the strange events that took place that day and was ready to signal her sister at the first sign that "it" had happened. They had prepared for this for years, and had been let down once before by a certain somepony who shall not be named. (Ahem, cough-StarswirltheBearded)

She called across the cavernous room to Celestia, "Celestia! Celestia! It's time!" The pearly white alicorn had been taking a nap, and woken suddenly from a rather strange dream yelled, "That foal isn't mine!" She looked around, and then at Luna's face, which looked extremely shocked for a moment, then burst into peals of loud, snorting laughter. Celestia ran across the room to the dark blue alicorn who had just stood up rather weakly after rolling around on the ground and proceeded to whisper in her ear, "We shall never speak of this again!" Luna replied after stifling numerous giggles, "Agreed, Tia. I would not 'spill' secrets of which thou didn't want spilled." Luna cringed, while she did not at all mind having to learn the New Equestrian way of speaking, she very much minded how she sometimes would fluctuate between Old Equestrian and New Equestrian grammar. "So, as you were saying Lulu?" Said Celestia, Luna replied seriously, having regained her composure "It's time. The sparrow has entered the birdhouse." The princess of the day groaned, "I know that you like to play games where the characters use code words, but honestly! I can't understand a word you're saying." "Very well," grumbled Luna "Twilight AND her friends have entered the Astral Plane." "Happy?"
