RISE

Prologue

17 January 2044

For the past two weeks before this faithful day, it was preparations being made as far as the eye can see. People were on the run for supplies to hold down the fort, and more importantly, themselves. It was predicted that on this day, the storms would hit all over the United States, and possibly Canada as well. Hurricanes, tornadoes, thunder, you name it and reporters would say it'd happen on the seventeenth of January. This was only proven further by the mass of dark, grey clouds. No one had a great reason for it, and no one needed such. Because the people of the USA and Canada had families to protect, and you don't need a reason for that.

And as it turns out, the storms had came. It started in the city of Orlando, and quickly spread to cities around it in just the short time span of a few days. Rain and hail engulfed the streets, almost forcing the residents to stay in their homes. It didn't take long for food to become scarce, and as the heavy winds made their mark, electricity becoming none. With food low, and darkness engulfing homes, the only sensible choice would to attempt to go out and get food, or possibly some batteries. The problem is that, is the simple fact that stores were closed. Employees didn't dare to step outside, just like anyone else. Even if it did mean some would be able to get more supplies for this ever-lasting storm, even if it meant some would have hope.

Soon enough, all of the state of Florida ended up in similar to how Orlando was. Small floods already had taken place, within just a week after the storms' start. Some towns were experiencing the hurricanes. And some were under orders for all citizens to stay indoors. All this meant food and beverages were gone within no time. Police and military forces realized this, and decided to take it upon themselves to deliver these items to homes. It was a nice try.. but sadly, this operation failed within the first day. In the harsh weather, and devastating winds, anyone who went out immediately had to find shelter.

And thus started the calls to 911. Ambulances were called dozens at a time, to search and rescue any lost inhabitants of their respective towns. Deciding to ditch the coats and go for armor, medics jumped in their trucks and drove to save their friends. The citizens. And.. it worked. Trucks would swerve a bit, and nothing could protect from the cold, but going for armor made the missions easier. Police and military, picking up on this idea, donned their heavy armors and started their operation once again. 'Operation: Rise'.

The name was chosen to give hope to the victims of these horrible days. So that they know, that they will rise. For the first three weeks to about a month, it was successful. Families were given a care package, each day. It would have a pack of twenty batteries, various foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a two liter bottle of water, and things went well. It was slightly costly, but anything to save their cities. This went on around the world- not just Florida. After the first month of Operation: Rise, the storms went to nearby states, making it's way through each town without failure. It never let up, not a bit. It got worse, in fact. People were dubbing it the worst storm the world has ever had.

June 21 2044. On this day, the storms had continued to spread throughout the USA, and finally, made it's mark in Canada.

Earthquakes started to appear.

Heavy rain, dense winds, and large hail kept residents inside.

July 30 2044, the storms went through Canada and continued going.

Soon enough, just about all countries were taken by the horrible things. It was worldwide.

Someone.. someone would say.. the world was in a state of chaos.
