RISE
Chapter 10: The Will To Destroy
Celestia slowly turned away from me to our side, where three voices made themselves known. I could see her eyes widen, she looked at least a bit shocked, but I wasn't too sure for some reason. The sounds of ponies running came to a stop, and the city of Canterlot slowed to nothing. Everyone stopped to look at the source of whoever spoke. I slowly rose to my feet, and walked over to Celestia, trying desperately not to fall. The rain from underneath me made it hard to do so, as I almost slipped a few times. I couldn't help but notice how concerned Celestia looked, she looked as if she just seen the end of mankind or something. Reaching the edge, I finally got a good look at whomever it was.
"Oi! Well, would ya look at that mate."
"Oh, yes, look! It's ehh.."
"Jason?"
"Yeah that's it!"
I realized why Celestia was shocked, now. Holy shit. I stepped forward as I seen the three voices. I shook my head, and blinked rapidly, not entirely ready to accept this yet. This can't be right. No.
My running came to a stop, as I made my way to the source of the voices. Three bodies stood before me, with a shocked expression on their faces.
"Mate..."
That accent, I knew it anywhere.
"F-Fuckin' hell, man.."
His swearing, yeah I couldn't forget that.
"Jay... why are you here?"
And that female voice An unmistakable one.
"My god man.. didn't think I'd see any humans here, and now I see you three..." I replied to them, rubbing my temples at the sight of my three best friends here in an alien world along with me.
My response was a slap across the face from the one with the accent. His name was Daniel, he was Australian, but he moved to Canada for family reasons or something. We were pretty close, liked a lot of the same things, except he was a huge comic book fanatic. He wanted to become an artist one day, and he definitely could. His drawing was really great. But, that wasn't exactly my concern right now, he just slapped me in the face! It hurt, too.
"Dan? What was that ab--"
"Jason, what the bloody hell are you doin'!? The princess or whatever jus' flew on ova' an' starts screaming at ya! She.. she said you stole the Elements, mate? Where are they?" Daniel crossed his arms and yelled.
"What the fuck? Why the hostility? Do you think I'm trying to take over this place, or something?" I started to explain, but first looked back at Celestia. She flew down over to me, and got a tad too close for comfort.
"Where... are they." she said in a lighter tone, but still holding the same amount of hatred as before.
"We heard about those fuckin' Elements of Harmony, apparently they're the most powerful things in this Equestria or whatever. Why is she saying you stole them? You didn't, right? 'Cuz you mighta been an asshole at times, but you ain't this kinda asshole." Matthew, the one who was swearing a bunch, glared at me. The hell!? I thought these guys were like, my bros. And sis, I guess, including the last one who was there. Oh, and how long have I been an asshole to them?
Dammit, I don't need this, man. I've been having enough trouble. Now my friends are turning against me. But why? They seemed so much more concerned about this world than they did about me being here. Or me at all. I started to think, should I confess? If I say I was working with Princess Luna and Spike to steal the Elements and defeat Celestia, that definitely wouldn't help at all. Can I lie? Bluff my way out? These ponies have magic and shit, they probably have concrete proof that I helped and just want to know where they are. Actually, yeah, that would explain a lot of things. So I guess bluffing is sort of out of the question. But I can't say that her own sister had the idea of taking them, can I?
"Explain yourself, Jason!" Daniel gritted his teeth and took a step toward me.
Aaaand that's right about when I was done.
"Fuck off!" I yelled, and pushed Daniel away. I turned right around, got on my feet and moved my ass.
Running, it was the only thing that seemed right at the time. I have to leave Canterlot, I thought. They know I'm guilty of stealing the elements, they must. Who knows what they do as punishments. I pumped my legs as much as I could and ran through the streets, as the ponies just seemed dumbfounded at the scene before them. Some were running, some were flying, some were magic'ing some stuff. Most of them seemed to go in one direction, of which was somewhere behind me. Wait, oh. Behind me. I'm still an alien and now they are convinced I stole the Elements. And ponies like mobs. It was true that I assisted in stealing the Elements, I guess, but I'm not the bad guy here, am I? Am I? That Luna pony, it was her idea. The Elements were probably still with her. But can I say that I know where they are? They might know something's up if I, in fact, know where the Elements are. I could be giving myself in like that. Which is not what I'm about to do. I'm about to get the fuck outta here.
"AFTER HIM, MY SUBJECTS!" Celestia's shout rattled the streets as it echoed throughout the city, and that just gave me more motivation to run. Run as far as I can. Get away from this place. This horrible place.
The things I have seen and heard, and the things I haven't. There's something going on here. And as much as I'd like to know what, it isn't worth it. I need to go home. Except, I, well, could I? I promised to help save the ponies, and in return Luna would take me home and help it. Fix it. Make us whole again. Luna's probably my only ticket out of here. I don't think it'd be possible for anyone else to send me back. And if I do leave Canterlot, I can't return. I can't return to anywhere near this place. They will be looking for me, and they'll find me. I need to hide somewhere, until I can get to Luna again. I don't know if I could just ask her to send me back, I mean, I'm pretty sure I made it clear I'd help her and not back out. But goddammit, I don't think I can help now!
I looked back after quickly sidestepping around a stand of some sort, and seen Celestia right behind me, and her horn was lighting up a bright yellow. And Daniel, Matthew, and-- hold the phone, where'd they go? I was now being followed by Celestia, and a few different jet black ponies, all with a bunch of holes in their bodies, and their eyes were a neon blue. Just blue. No pupils or anything, just blue. They also had horns, and wings, but they looked more like something you'd see on a fly more than on a pony. Also, the ponies that I previously thought were attempting to form a mob behind me, were now running in fear at the sight of the black ponies, all in different directions. Screaming, screaming for help. I kept running. I looked ahead, and seen a familiar sight coming close. I smirked, as I started cooking up a plan. A train station was right in front of me, as I tried to push myself further, and run faster. I needed to hurry, now.
Dammit, how many times am I going to get ponies chasing me? I reached the station, and wasted no time trying to execute a plan. It was a bad plan. A very, very bad one. But, I sorta had no choice. I ran through the gift shop, knocking down several gifts, right past the ticket booth, and right to the tracks. I stood on the wood just above the tracks, and quickly looked left and right. Left, nope. Right, yeah, here we go.
I turned back around to the ponies standing there. Neither looked tired, or out of breath, or anything. As my rush of adrenaline started to die down a bit, I realized I was goddamn beat. I didn't show any signs of weakness, however.
"So, is this how it ends? Is this how I fall, how you'll take me down? Is this, our final dance? Then.. so be it. Let's dance."
Ten...
"Alright, you gotta hit this brother. You got it. Deep breaths.
Nine...
"Alright, okay, line it up..."
Eight...
"Finger on the trigger. Scope on the target. Breathe in, breathe out, alright?"
Seven...
Echo-Three aimed through the ACOG scope attached to his rifle, set to 4x zoom. This was it. The last few seconds, to either write in another successful mission, or a terrible failure.
Six...
"TAKE THE SHOT, ECHO-THREE, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME!" Echo-One yelled from the still barely holding table, somehow not fallen under the barrage of fire that hasn't come to a stop just yet.
Five...
"Five seconds. C'mon, it's showtime buddy. Take the shot." Echo-Four gave advice from right next to the soldier.
Four...
Echo-Three was ready. While he doubted the plan would work, it was the only one possible. His carbine rifle was aimed directly at a tiny box on the nuke, which held the wiring to it. At least, they hoped. It seemed somewhat likely, anyways. Of course, the best idea would've been to go over and disarm it through there, but it isn't going to work that way.
Three...
"Echo-Three! You got this, do it! Fire!" Echo-Four said, getting slightly more nervous.
One last deep breath, Echo-Three started to pull back his index finger...
Two...
TWANG!
Echo-Three finally pulled the trigger, and his rifle fired off a round. The recoil was minimal, as only one round went off. The cartridge flew through the air, and successfully hit the box. The small door to it flew off the hinges, and the wires were all ripped and thrown apart. Echo squad all looked to the timer, in hopes that it would stop, and they had won. Would that have disarmed it? They never tried anything like it. And would straight damage to the wires effectively defuse the bomb?
"N-no.. no no NO NO NO! F-FUCK!"
One...
"NO! IT'S STILL GOING!"
"Fuuuuuuccc----"
"No... No..."
"Overlord, we have results on the nuke. It just detonated, sir..."
"Echo! Th-This.. this is Overlord.. c-can you read me..."
"They failed.. we should've called in reinforcements..."
"Delta!? Charlie!? Br-Bravo! Alpha... please, anyone, can you read me!"
"Wait. What.. what's going on!? Overlord! The nuke! It was just a small explosion, it's not reaching anywhere outside the warehouse!"
"What? What're you talking about, Lieutenant!?"
"Look! It was about the same size of maybe a few C-4 explosives, the warehouse is gone, but it's not.. it's not enough to go to Vancouver!"
"How in the hell.. I thought we ID'd that as a WMD!"
"W-We did!"
"Hold on, you two.. I'm looking now, and I see an explosion, but uh, why's it leaving a rainbow cloud?"
"Ah... there we go. Here they come, now. They will assist you, my friends."
"Fuck yeah they will. Ya know, we could start a lil army here."
"Roger-fuckin'-that, Alpha-Two. It'd only be so much easier, to do what we're about to do."
"It's so nice to see you all have such enthusiasm in this. Remember the plan, everypo--one."
"Right! We get to the kid, find out where he's hiding the Elements, get 'im on our side, and we're good to go!"
"Good job. It really is a shame he had to end up against us..."
"Yeah. Asshole's going down. By the way, where's Chrysalis? Did she get her Changelings in yet?"
"Of course."
Sarge and his squad had finally reached the end of the forest, and finally made their escape. Thankfully, they had managed to bring their packs with them, the boxes that held their items. They had to go back to where they fought the lion-thing, but they got it. They were met with a massive, beautiful green field. Large snowy mountains could be seen off into the distance. The weather had continued how it has been for the past while-- rain, sleet, hail, and heavy winds. It had started as they were still going through the trees and forest, and definitely didn't help their moods at all. Without getting a lick of sleep and just MREs, water, and only being able to have small amounts of energy drinks to keep them up, they weren't happy. They were tired and just wanted a nice bed to fall into. They had noticed a small cottage in the distance, with birds and animals of all sorts around it. The squad made a plan to go there after examining the area, once more.
"Yo, Sarge. Check out the mountain. Is that a castle?" Johnson asked to Sarge, scratching his chin.
"I think so, Private, it looks like something's going on over there, too. Gimme the binoculars..."
"Ahh.. just like I remember. Loss of color, corrupted, and against ponykind! Heh, heh... let's see.. we have the Royal Army, Changelings, the Elements of Harmony, and not to mention we're getting some backup from an entirely different dimension.. oh, I can't wait!"
"Hail Discord!"
