All I could see was ice, ice and metal. The cold air around me made me shiver. I couldn't tell which way was up, then I realized I was still in space.
"Computer open stasis pod"
Stasis pod:UNLOCKED
"How long was I out?"
100 years 10 months and 12 days
"Open viewing window"
Window shield:OPEN
"Um, computer are still in orbit around earth"
This planet has an atmosphere composition just like earths with liquid water and plant life
"Computer begin capture maneuver"
Retro thrusters:ENGAGED
Window shield:LOCKED
Heat shield:ARMED
I could feel the retro rockets working as they pulled me down to orbital velocity. All the lights whirred to life and I started pressing buttons right as they lit up. The retro rockets ran out of fuel and I began my descent. This was the only thing I had to do manually. I put the shielded part of the space craft on the retrograde vector and throttled up to max and watched the orbital mapping screen...
The booster orbit was slowly turning inward until it became an oval shape around the planet. I kept burning until it was about 300 KM above the planets surface at periapsis.
"Circularize" I said in a dead even astronaut tone.
It was about 3 hours till i reached periapsis.
I throttled up to full and engaged the tiny solid fuel starters.
I heard the Bang of the detonators engaging the starting motors and the liquid fuel drives.
"Computer scan for life forms" In a dead serious tone that only an astronaut would understand.
...No life forms detected Plant life: ABUNDANT.
"Computer Begin reentry Protocol 9 dash B Hot landing"
