Ah Promise

Death's embrace gives light to life, and so it is in these final moments. Featuring Applejack...

Because I could not stop for death / He kindly stopped for me… - Emily Dickinson

Do not go gentle into that good night… - Dylan Thomas

So many amazing poets and writers have reflected upon death. It is truly a dark abysmal idea, and one that scares every single living being. Our instincts fight against it, and yet everything that ever draws a breath, everything that is alive, must eventually come to terms with its mortality. Death comes to us all. It is no different for those residing in Equestria. However, some are just not ready to let go, to welcome death's cold embrace, to go gentle into that good night…

Not for the faint of heart, I rated it teen for no gore or sex, but for the sheer effect it can have on those that have not come to terms with mortality. If death is something that scares you, don't read this. I've searched through the depths of my soul and subconscious to bring this story to life, and it is filled with raw, potent, human emotion. If you are not the kind to enjoy something like this, then please, stop reading right now.
