Alicorn's Lament - The new Elements
My dearest Princess Celestia,
My recent studies in the creation and production of rainbows has lead me to some..... odd discoveries. The current method of producing pure spectra for the rainbows is via magic, but this has a nasty side product named "Spectra-9". Spectra-9 is a spectra not used in the rainbow, as it is as black as a moonless night. I'm writing to you because Spectra-9 is alive! Genetic material in it has been activated all over Equestria, a new life form has been created from a waste product! The implications are almost infinite!
My true purpose in writing to you is to ask for a temporary leave on my study of the magic of friendship to further analyze this new life form. Please respond as soon as equinely possible.

"Can she hear us?" said a mare.
"Yes." said a colt in a monotone voice.
"Is she aware!?"
"...Yes."
"How long has she been awake!?"
"Only for a few moments, not too long."
"We haven't even finished inserting the G.L.A.S.S. unit yet!"
"There is no time to reapply sedatives, you need to finish the job."
Ugh... W-Where am I? Thought the waking pony.
"Mrs, if you can hear me, please shake your right ear." requested the mare.
I better do what she says... Thought the waking pony.
"She is aware after all..." replied the mare to the shake of the ear.
"We've little time left, IT is making it's way into this room." said the colt.
"W-w-w-w" the waking pony stuttered.
The colt replied, "Please, Mrs, do not speak. It will only make this more difficult."
This hurts... sooooo much..... Thought the waking pony.
"Surgical thread please?" asked the mare to the colt. "Done."
There was silence before the colt said, "You may speak now, Mrs."
"Where am I?" Asked the waking pony.
"The last safe place in Cloudsdale... well, it isn't as safe as it used to be..." Replied the mare.
"Safe... from what?"
"IT" replied the colt.
"What is IT?" Asked the waking pony.
BOOM!! The cloud door split almost perfectly in two and a black ooze started flowing through.
The three ponies stood in shock before reacting.
"Mrs. Scootaloo, now would be the time to evacuate." Said the colt.
"Leave us here," said the mare, "we'll be fine."
Scootaloo, the waking pony, did not react instantly. Memories flooded to her from what happened all that time ago... She then took hold of the hooves of the colt and mare, and flew straight through the cloud roof.
She flew as high as she could before looking down.
She couldn't believe what she saw.
She slowly glided down to ground in the place once known as Ponyville, the place that was once her home.
"W-what happened here?" She asked.
"24 years of Shadeswift's rule and endless bombardment with what we call 'IT'." replied the colt, stunned from the fact Scootaloo had even bothered to save him, but his voice did not show such emotion.
"Shadeswift?"
"IT's leader, the Mare of Darkness. She used IT to take control of Equestria..." replied the mare.
"I know this was once Ponyville..... but I can hardly call it that now. Does it have a new name?"
"Your hooves rest in the heart of the Everfree Desert." replied the colt.
"And what of everypony who had lived here?"
"IT did... Most of them were killed fighting. Only one of the keepers of the Elements of Harmony is known to be alive, and she lives not too far from here." replied the mare.
"Can you take me to her?"
Both colt and mare looked at one another before the colt replied. "Yes. Follow me."
The house seemed to be created from a hallow tree, but the tree had died along Ponyville. The door slowly creaked open and a very familiar animal hobbled out. It looked at the colt, then the mare, and then Scootaloo. It seemed a spark ignited in it's eye when it saw the familiar face, and in almost one bound the bunny landed on Scootaloo's back!
"ANGEL!?"
