//-------------------------------------------------------// Dark days -by PopcornPinkie- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// New Reality //-------------------------------------------------------// New Reality When I was younger and more sane, I strived to be my best and more loved by others. Back then, I was the odd princess, the one who had to catch up, the one with no love and attention. my older sister Celestia overtook my needed attention. Everyone loved her. My father was the only caring pony I knew then. My mother loved Celestia more than anything. I yearned for her love and never got it. but one unfortunate day, the worst happened. I was sitting next to my father reading a bed time story in front of the fireplace when Celestia runs in the door. “father, there’s someone here to see you”. “to see me now? Did they give their name?” “oh… no, they didn't. they just asked for you, alone” “alone? well then. Luna, I’ll come back after I am done with this person and their business. I’ll be back first thing!” he walks out the door. A guard asks to follow him but he declines it. Celestia walks over and sits down with me. She starts reading the book and gets me into bed and tucks me in. then she goes over to her bed and goes to sleep also. I wonder why she suddenly cared for me. It was like she knew that something bad was going to happen. A sound of a gun shot rings through the air. “FATHER? FATHER, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?” I run out of bed. “Luna! Get back into- what, where are you going!?” Celestia shouts. Mother runs out of her room. “what was that?” she asks. “a gun shot! Father is out there!” I shout. “he is out there? Get back into bed children, I will sort this out.” I stare at Mother. My father, the caring, compassionate one was out there, and this might have been my last time with him. She looks into my eyes, and through the gold, I can see that she knows what will happen next. I trust her in this, she is our mother, after all. “please, go back to your bedroom and lock the door. This might get a little out of hand.” she says, lightly kissing me on the head. She turns and walks down the hall. “goodnight, dear” I was dumbfounded and willing to help. She left without saying anything else, and I slowly walk back to my room, Celestia poking her head out. Her pink mane didn't exactly stand out against the dark room, but it made me rethink of the many sunrises my family went to. Back then, I didn't have full control over the moon. I depended on my father a lot for that. I look out one of the large windows, and out onto the moon. It was just as beautiful, but it was golden orange. It was like a hot butter knife down my dry throat. That only happened when either me or my father were ill, or even worse, dead, and the golden glow made streaks across my vision, whirling into a sight of my mother’s eyes. BANG! BANG! A wail comes from outside, and we both gasp. Celestia quickly puts her wing around me and hustles me into another room down the corridor. It had a steel door, and was the quarters of the guards. We hid there for days. Most of the outside guards could not see in the dark. They never found my parents, nor the murderer. They were not able to… yet. A week had passed, and nothing happened. Nothing happened other than the constant smashing and bashing of the guard’s lockers, and the squeaking of the beds and windows. The room was mostly bare white, nothing to see. The only warmth we got was from the sun Celestia only managed to pull up every day. The moon and stars, however, were very hard to lift. Celestia, half of the dark magic kingdom ponies and I had struggled to pull it up. The dark magic ponies were outcasts to our subjects, and were shunned every time they were sighted. They lived in small communities, and I had one for a great friend. His name was Sombra Shadow, a young prince of the dark magic kingdom. He wore no armor, just his grey coat and his red eyes. His father was sick, and his mother was barely even around. We would talk and play with each other for hours on end. Celestia wasn't so sure about him and the others. She kept telling me, and telling me, never ending about what they could do to me, never stopping, just droning on like mother did about them. “They are evil beings, and they are planning attacks on us, like we have our backs turned! Your little friend is next in line to be their king! He will betray you and defeat us all! They will take us over, and use us!” she would say, before I went outside to play with him. Sombra looked back at her with an angered face after I came out, because he knew what she was talking about. “I would never turn on you. You are my best friend! You know me so well and enjoy my ways and my kingdom!” he says to me after. “I always will. You know my night better than any pony else.” I would answer. “always” (to be continued :) ) //-------------------------------------------------------// Destiny Awaits //-------------------------------------------------------// Destiny Awaits The sun went up every day with ease. It had an alicorn to control it, of course. My moon, I could not lift myself. I needed help from her, since I could not fly, I had no wings. I would strain most of my energy on lifting it from the ground, sometimes jumping because I felt the need. But I always fell, and face-planted into the cold ground. “Luna, do you want me to help you bring the moon up tonight?” Celestia asked from the door. “I’m sure! I can do it myself!” I would answer. “are you sure?” “No- I mean… YES!” I said, excitedly. “ OK, I trust you” I took my stance, and the blue glow from my horn grew, getting lighter. I could feel it’s power. the light grew even bigger, starting to cover over my head. “oh no… what’s happening?” I ask Celestia, scared. No answer. Just a simple sigh and a smile. “it’s time for you to fulfill your destiny” she whispers finally, the light exploding and leaping over my whole body. A source of magic, the same color as my coat, started circling around me, multiplying, Lifting me up, it starting to glow. In one final moment, everything stopped. I could feel the power that my moon held, it’s knowledge, it’s beauty, it’s magic. The glow explodes, everything resuming. The surging light whirs back into my horn, and leaves behind more than just a memory. My eyes burst open, the light still coming out, and wings flapped behind me. There was also a small searing pain on my flank. I touch down slowly, the moon lifting into the sky for it’s first time only by me, and I look back to my flank to see a dark patch, with a white crescent moon on it. “m- m- my cutie mark! I GOT MY CUTIE MARK!” I burst out, in a loud clear voice. “ whoops… sorry… I should not use the royal Canterlot voice at night… I know.” Celestia comes over, and hugs me. “it frightened me at first, to see you do that. But I knew it would come one day.” “one night you mean!” I respond, cheerfully. “yes, one night, you silly filly.” she laughs, sitting down with me to look at the sky. “do I have to bring up the stars now too?” I ask her. “yes, every  time you will have to.” “aww… really? All of them?” I whimper. “yes. All of them.” she finishes, taking me back inside to my bed. “goodnight” she kisses me on the head “sweet dreams, princess.” //-------------------------------------------------------// The Moon and it's Flowers //-------------------------------------------------------// The Moon and it's Flowers As I walks out through the front door, I am greeted through the shadows by my good friend, Sombra. He had not became king yet, and was still an immature, bad-ass prince of darkness. He whispers out of the shadows and opens his eyes, of which were still red. “Welcome back into the shadows, my princess of the night.” I blush a bit, and reply back softly “Oh, and such a warm greeting, thou agrees?" “Your language even confuses me somewhat.” he mumbles, looking at me. I give him a stern look. “but I can live with it!” he quickly adds. We start walking off, him walking beside my in the darkness. It was around 8pm, so it was still early for me. I had already lifted up the moon before I left. We get to a small lake, and he stops us there, leading me to a bench that stood alone under an oak tree. I get up onto it, while he goes over to the river bank to collect something. He walks back to me with a moon flower, it’s blueness reflecting my mane. I blush a bright red, and he does a bit too. “for you, Luna” he levitates it out from his mouth, and puts it into my hair, right above my ear. “aww.. You didn’t need to..” I reply, forgetting my royal Canterlot voice. “well, I suppose we could do without the voice, tonight” he gets up next to me, and nuzzles my mane. That night had changed how I looked at many things after. All because of a simple little question. Sombra stops nuzzling my mane and decides to make things clear. “Luna, dearest… I was wondering something…” I look at him. “yes?” I ask. “would you do the honors… of becoming my queen?” I gasped, as he brings out a ring and a beautiful crown. “I- I- I don’t know what to say… I- I- I’m too.. I’m too young to accept..” I mumble, it all hitting me. He loved me all this time, and I took it as a friendly gesture. “I suppose, I could be your fillyfriend for the meantime…” He sighs and blushes, putting away the ring and the crown. “I went.. A bit too fast on that… too early…. Didn’t I?” “Uhh… it seems so.. The crown.. It looks lovely..” he looks at me and brings it out again. “would you like to wear it this one night?” he asks “for me?” I smile and nod my head. “yes, I will. For you.” I luckily had no jewelry on that night. So I put the crown on my head, and rest my head on his shoulder. “it’s lovely.” I was due to go into my new form, my final, adult form. Only then could i really decide things for myself. We stay in the same position the rest of the night, looking at my moon. //-------------------------------------------------------// prologue - Legend //-------------------------------------------------------// prologue - Legend "Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together, and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn; the younger brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for the kingdom and their subjects, all the different types of ponies. But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night. One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon. She vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal night. Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: the Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister, and banished her permanently in the moon. But permanently was not what Nightmare Moon had in mind. Before her defeat, she announced that one day she will return, along with her conquest for eternal night. The elder sister however had a prophecy of her own. When Nightmare Moon returns one mysterious pony will use the powers of harmony and will be powerful enough to defeat Nightmare Moon once and for all and restore peace and harmony to the land once more. At the mean time, the elder sister took on responsibility for both sun and moon and harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since.”
