Chapter one: Well that didn't...work?

It was a not so beautiful day in Equestria. It rained, but yet it felt relieving. The few ponies that were outside were in a hurry to get home and dry. All but one.

Twilight Sparkle slowly walked to the library. She didn't even take notice of the rain you would think, but she did. Few ponies knew, but rain really helped organizing her thoughts. Even an egghead and skilled organisator like Twilight sometimes needed some organizing from somepony (or something) other than herself.

As she made her way home, she seemed relaxed and in no hurry. Yet her thoughts worked at full speed, trying to solve a problem she had.

"Maybe if I just... No that wouldn't work. How about... No, that neither. Oh! How about... Nahh." Twilight was deep in thought. Suddenly she was laying on the ground.

"Hey! Watch where you- Oh hey Twi! Sorry, been a bit busy with the weather lately, so I didn't see you. Gotta go, see ya!" And with that Rainbow Dash flew off before giving Twilight a chance to respond.

"Weather eh? Wouldn't surprise me if she meant napping." Twilight chuckled to herself. And with that she resumed her walk to the library.

She opened the door with her magic and stepped inside. Finally, dry. While it had been relieving to walk in the rain, being wet was only nice when you were kept wet. She already started to shiver, and quickly pulled a towel from a rack with her magic, wrapping it around herself like a blanket. While she snuggled on the couch into her towel to keep warm, she heard a voice.

"Someone there! The library isn't opened, please come back- Oh. Hey Twilight! Glad to see you." Spike came downstairs and gave Twilight a hug. Seeing him embrace her leg was quite sweet to see. Twilight smiled at him. "Hey Spike. Missed me that much?" With a quick pull she covered him in the fairly big towel as well, and gave him a big hug.

"Yeah,,, Maybe? Just glad you're back home Twi. Want some hayfries?" Spike dashed of to the kitchen without waiting for a reply.

"That would be...lovely Spike. Thank you." said Twilight, before noticing Spike was already in the kitchen. "The sweetheart" mumbled Twilight. She would give him some extra gems after dinner tonight.

The next day Twilight awoke very groggily. She blinked once, twice. But it didnt really help. The sun already had made its way to the sky, and shone directly into Twilights eyes. Normally she would have been happy to be waked by the sun, but today was an exception. She had slept so bad.

It was normal for her to sleep bad every now and then, for example when she was breaking her head over a problem. This problem, however, was way more important. How was she ever gonna solve this?

"Morning Twi, how was your night?" Ofcourse. Spike came into her room, as he did everyday.

"Just fine Spike, thank you." Twilight smiled at him. Spike though raised an eyebrow. Twilight was a terrible liar, they knew both. "Twi... What's bothering you?" He climbed on her bed to sit with her.
