Chapter 1: The Madness Begins

Perspective: narrarator

As he flew over the white capped mountains, Falconer grinned. He had just escaped from the prison of tediousness that was his childhood home at a canterlot orphanage, and he felt great! His only regrett was that he had not been able to bring his friends with him. However, this was not too troubling, since his idea of "friends" back at the orphanage had merely been the bullies that only tried to kill him every other day. Life was good!

Suddenly, a mist came up and blocked out the sun in a very unnatural way. It was a bluish hue, and seemed to move as if it was alive. A menacing hisssss came from within the fog, seeming to whisper his name. Life out of the orphanage was definitely losing its charm quickly.

Falconer tried to fly away from the mist, but his wings just felt so... heavy.... , and his mind felt so... tired.... He tried to run, but his legs too felt as if they were leaden, and it was all he could do to even stand up. Soon, he lost all strength, and the last thing he perceived before loosing consciousness was the mist forming a shadowy figure and saying "yessss youu willll doooo perrrrrrfectlyyyy......."

When he woke, Falconer was not alone. Standing above him was a great black alicorn, with a mane identical in appearance to the mist that had surrounded him before. "Wh-who are you?" He asked, trying his best to sound brave. "I am a sympathizer." She replied, " I have come to get my revenge on the ponies of Equestria for all of their ignorance and arrogance! I know that you must hate them just as much as I, for they have tormented you for your entire life." Falconer considered the dark mare's words: it was true that he had truly hated some of the others at the orphanage, and though it would normally feel amoral to seek vengeance on an entire empire as a result, with this strange mare by his side it just felt right. "I agree with you when it comes to revenge" he told the mare, " but how can a mere colt of a Pegasus do anything but hinder you?" In reply, she simply stepped aside to reveal a mirror.

When Falconer looked in the mirror, he saw a monster. It had a serpentine body with the legs of many different creatures, and a fearsome and mismatched head with a set of great fangs. As he flexed his wings, the monster did too, and he saw that one of them had lost all of its feathers, and looked like that of a dragon. To crown of the look, the head was adorned with an antler and a dragon's horn. "As you can see, you are no longer just 'a little colt'." Said the alicorn.
