Chapter 1

It was dark and cloudy out. The rain was assaulting the earth making up for all the dry weather that had been for months. Hardly anypony was outside, those that where quickly went through their business, hurry to their nice warm homes. One of these ponies was Caramel who was quickly galloping to his parents house, in the outskirts of Ponyville.

Caramel quickened his pace realizing he was running late for the date he had scheduled with his parents. His boots squished as water got into them. As he approached the house Caramel slid on the mud, landing face first in the mud.

"Buckets!"

Caramel stood up slowly slipping a little on the mud. The rest of the way to the house he walk carefully.

He shock off the remaining mud under the porch. He rang the door bell repeatedly wanting some pony to open the door quickly.

"I'm coming! I'm coming!"

Caramel shifted form hoof to hoof trying to keep warm. Finally the door opened revealing his mother, Dove Crème.

"Oh dear Caramel come in come in! Oh my you must be freezing, you poor thing! Leave your coat and boots outside."

His mother ushered Caramel into the house leading him to a plush recliner.

"Caramel sweetie what are you doing here?"

Caramel looked at his mother questionably, "Uh wasn't there a meeting today... for the company?"

Caramel's voice got quieter realizing that he was wrong.

His mother was about to answer but instead his father did as he walked down the stairs.

"Nope, we sent a letter to you a week ago, guess it got lost in the mail."

Caramel's father, Crème Caramel, entered the room kissing his wife on the cheek. Caramel wanted to bang his head on the hardest surface he could find. Figures the one time he actually had time to go to one of his family's business  meeting, it would be canceled.

Caramel's parents ran a small candy company, creating different caramel flavored candies, go figure.

"But Caramel we do have something for you to do, ones the rain stops." Crème took a seat close to his son, Dove went into the kitchen to make some hot coco.

"Sure anything you need Dad."

"Well as you know, the meeting that we had originally scheduled today regarding the legal issues was cancelled. The reason being, our normal lawyer asked for a couple of months off, his wife is having triplets soon. Since he's been such a good stallion we happily gave him the time off, thing is though we don't have another lawyer."

Caramel nodded his head taking the cup his mother handed him, she took a seat next to his father, handing him a cup as well and took a sip from her own.

"You're sister, who was here the other day, had suggested a stallion she knows from Canterlot. Seemed very excited 'bout him to."

Crème smiled happily at the thought of his daughter actually taking personal interest in a stallion, from Canterlot no less!

"I don't think Toffee's the kind of girl to settle down quite yet dear. You know how she is." Dove stated in a hushed tone knowing just what her husband was thinking.

Toffee Caramel's sister was a strange filly, she was one of those fillies that liked to get around, a lot. When ever she did take interest in a stallion, and mentioned it to their parents, was usually for one reason, to hook him up with her brother. Caramel and Dove both knew this but kept it a secret from Crème.

"Hmph that girl is going to have to learn to settle down one day, if she really is going to be part of this business one day! Any ways Caramel your going to go with your sister to see this stallion and speak with him about all this and see if he's up to the task."

Caramel sighed knowing some how Toffee was going get him to go alone weather he liked it or not.

Dove looked at her son apologetically thinking just the same, knowing her daughter this was all about some elaborate plot to get some stallion with Caramel (forcing him to forget the stallion he was currently interested in), and get his father to fully accept his son.

Crème hadn't been told about Caramels preference in stallions, or Toffee's active . . . Lifestyle, or even their eldest brother utter disdain on the idea of him one day having to run the family's candy company. Her husband was truly clueless about his children's lives but he had always tried his hardest to understand them, she had to give him credit for that. The only reason she found out was because of her mother instinct, she hopes that one day her children will be able to be themselves around there father and he whole heartedly embrace them.

Caramel accepted the job his father gave him, if only to make his father happy. He stayed the rest of the night seeing that the rain was not going to let up at all. He went to sleep wondering just what his sister was up to.

I messed around with the grammar and everything, I hope it's somewhat better. I think I'll actually start working on this again.
