Luna's Journey

Who Rules?

Previous Chapter

Luna grew a bit older, and found that her sister, Akumu, had to take on the throne. The King and Queen had gone missing after defending the kingdom from the changelings. After months and months of searching, they decided to declare them dead. This devastated the daughters, and it left Akumu to rule by herself, for Celestia and Luna were too young to take care of the kingdom. A ceremony was held to remember them.

"On this day of great grieving, I declare that any ruler from this day forth shall be addressed as Princess or Prince, for their will never be a greater King and Queen." Akumu's voice was loud and strong, but it could not hold back the tears that fell down her face.

Luna took a long time to recover. She had only knew her parents for such a little time. Celestia was always there for her little sister, but Akumu got so busy with trying to run a kingdom, she hardly noticed when Luna got her cutie mark.

"Do you want me to help get it started?" Celestia asked Luna.

"No you said I could do it!" Luna whined.

"Okay Okay." Tia smiled.

"Um..... Tia?"

"Yes?"

"Do you think you could stand next to me? Just in case?" Luna asked her sister.

"Just in case." Tia repeated, and walked over to stand up next to her sister. Luna now felt confident enough. She used her wings to fly herself up, then used her power to raise the moon. Then she dropped. Tia swooped in to catch her.

"Did I do it? Is it there?" Luna asked, her eyes covered.

Tia laughed and asked,"The moon or your cutie mark?"

"The moon, duh!" Luna said, uncovering her eyes, then turns her eyes to her flank. Her cutie mark was exactly like Akumu's, but instead of stars, a half moon was in it's place!

Luna gasped and shouted," I GOT MY CUTIE MARK!"

"Oh did you? I wasn't looking." Tia replied.

"TIA!"

"Kidding Kidding."

A while later, the two younger sisters ran into Akumu's room.

"Kumu! Look what I got! It's my cutie mark!" Luna told her.

Akumu was busy and half listening to what the girls were trying to tell her. "Uh huh. Yah that's cool... If we do it this way..."

Luna saw that their was no way to get her sister's attention now, and her head drooped. "Luna why don't you get ready for bed. I'll be in there soon to read to you." Tia told her.

Luna smiled a little bit and walked out. Celestia closed the door and turned to her busy sister.

"Akumu!"

"What?" she looked up from her papers to see what was going on.

"Did you even notice that Luna got her cutie mark?"

"She did? Oh that is great!" Akumu smiled and returned to her work.

"Put the papers down and listen!" Tia spoke, a little anger in her voice. Celestia never got angry, so Akumu listened to what she had to say.

Tia sighed and said," I think it is time you found someone else to help you rule. You have completely neglected Luna! She tries to talk to you and spend time with you, but your too busy to take the time to get to know her. I bet you didn't know that she was sick last week."

The mare just stared at her younger sister. She was thinking. and after a while, she sighed and said," Alright Celestia. Your right. But how can I make it up to Luna?"

"You can start by finding a companion. Someone to help you rule. Then try to spend time with her."

Akumu thought some more. Then she told her sister," Celestia, I think it is time you help me rule this kingdom."

Celestia was shocked. She meant for her sister to marry. "Oh...um... Ok..."

"What? Do you not want to rule?" Kumu asked.

"No it's not that, just i though you wanted to marry and rule with a husband."

Kumu laughed. "Tia, I've been waiting for the day you would rule with me, waiting until you were old enough and wise enough. You have done so by showing me where I must improve. A ceremony will be held in three days." Kumu started to plan the new ceremony, but Celestia took the papers away from her and said,"Oh no you don't! we are going to read to Luna."

Kumu opened her mouth to complain, but then agreed, and they went off to go read to their little sister.
