The Truth Comes Out
Within that week, Aqua Stream and Flash Magnus had grown a lot more closer to each other to the point where by Friday, they started becoming an official couple. Aqua got to know a whole lot more about Flash Magnus and just by his backstory, but also his friends and his hobbies and vice versa. And apparently, he has six other friends, five of them he united with thanks to a little help from his former classmate, Stygian.
Aqua wanted to meet Flash's old friends at one point, so they arranged for a day when Flash would invite everyone over to his house so he could properly introduce everyone. In the meantime, he got to know more about Aqua's interesting hobbies like how she had a thing for stand-up comedy.
Flash Magnus apparently had a soft spot for romance movies, but also enjoyed a good scary movie, sci-fi, action and even comedy, so he had a well-balanced taste in movies. On the subject of their favorite flavor of foods, Aqua had a thing for sour or perfectly salted foods. Flash also like some salted foods, but other times he actually liked his foods spicey, typical for someone who's a retired U.S soldier. There was also something else they had so much in common about: tardiness. Neither Flash, nor Aqua could even bear the thought about being late to anything.
Aqua mentioned that if her son knew about this, he'd compare the two of them to his friend, Twilight. She also hated being late for just about anything, even a casual visit at the library.
Speaking of Aqua's son, it was Saturday and the time was 8:55 A.M at the moment and Aqua had just arrived at Blazing's house five minutes early. She pulled out her phone and rang him up. "Blazing, I'm here. Are you and Rainbow all set and ready to go?" she asked.
"Yeah, mom. We're heading out right now," Blazing confirmed over the phone.
"Great, don't keep me waiting too long," she chimed. Blazing chuckled and sighed.
"Now I'm starting to think you're related to Rarity," Blazing remarked.
"Whatever," Aqua chuckled, brushing it off as a harmless joke before hanging up. 30 seconds later, the front door to her son's house opens up. Inside, she sees him and his rainbow-haired lover walking out. He went and locked up his house and then walked over to his mom's car. Both Rainbow Dash and Blazing sat in the back seat, closed the doors and buckled up. "You two ready for a nice family breakfast?"
"Boy, are we ever. Thanks for inviting me, Aqua," Rainbow said.
Aqua smiled and then started driving. "Oh yeah, before I forget, I want to ask you something," Rainbow said. "What was the occasion for wanting me to join you and Blazing?"
"You'll find out soon enough, Rainbow. Don't you worry," Aqua said, looking at her rear view mirror.
Rainbow looked at Blazing to see if he had the answer, but he just shrugged to show he didn't know either, so Rainbow just shrugged it off and would just be patient about the whole thing. To pass the time, she decided to get comfy by resting her head on Blazing's side. Blazing chuckled from how cute Dashie looked, getting in some quick Z's on him, napping away.
"Aww, how cute," Blazing said, stroking Rainbow's locks of hair.
"Look who's talking, babe," Rainbow retorted with her eyes closed. Aqua loved how those two were getting along with each other and was wondering to herself when they'll get married. Just imagining having Rainbow Dash as her daughter-in-law would be so amazing. With the way she made Blazing happy, she wouldn't be surprised if they ended up having kids after their marriage.
And so, eventually, the three of them reached the Hot Rod Hub. Everyone got out of the car and then Aqua waited for a bit longer, piquing Blazing's and Rainbow's curiosity.
Aqua's eyes dart over in one direction where Flash Magnus was walking up to the restaurant. His eyes lock on Aqua and he instantly waves at her. Aqua waves back, now making Blazing and Rainbow Dash even more curious of what was going on.
"I hope I didn't keep you guys waiting too long," Flash said.
"No, not too long," Aqua said before turning her attention to her son and Rainbow. "Blazing Waters, Rainbow Dash, I'd like you all to meet my new boyfriend, Flash Magnus. He's a retired U.S veteran." Aqua turned her attention back to Flash. "Flash, this is my son, Blazing Waters. And the lovely young lady holding his hand is his girlfriend, Rainbow Dash."
"It's very nice to meet you both," Flash said, extending his hand out to both Rainbow and Blazing.
"Hey, what's up! So you're the reason Blazing's been flipping out all worried about his mom. I can certainly see why she'd be so occupied lately. Nice to meet ya," Rainbow said, shaking his hand.
"I didn't know you were dating my mom. It's... nice to meet you," Blazing said, shaking Flash's hand.
"You're probably wondering why it took your mother so long to come out and tell you she was officially going out with me, aren't you?" Flash asked. Blazing nodded.
"I'll tell you after we get inside and order our meals. Come on, breakfast is on me," Aqua said.
Everyone walked inside the restaurant and eventually got themselves a table for four. Once everyone was sat down, they ordered some drinks to start things off. Aqua ordered herself a hot cup of coffee with some cream while Flash ordered some regular black coffee. Rainbow Dash and Blazing both wanted a delicious cold cup of orange juice. After ordering their drinks, it was time Blazing knew the truth.
"Alright Aqua Stream, go on ahead and tell him," Flash said.
"I know that. Blazing, I know I should've told you before, but you already know I'm going out with Flash. So, here's what had happened 2 weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I was out at a bar, drinking my problems away after some of the other men tried to sleep with me like I was some one-night stand. While I was out drinking, I forgot that I left my wallet at home, so then Flash saw me and... he offered to pay my bill. We got to talking and then the next day, we went out for a nice walk around the city. Turns out, he's been through a similar experience with his beloved betraying him at one point," Aqua explained.
"Seriously? I didn't know that," Blazing said.
"Yes. But unlike me, he had a wife and when she betrayed him by sleeping with another man, he broke off all contact with her and never spoke to her again. Ever since we met, he's always been interested in getting to know me for me and I've never had that kind of love in my life ever since I got with your father. I got so caught up in my little trip down the road of Upendi, that I completely forgot to tell you. So now that you know the truth, are you still mad at me?" Aqua asked.
"Nah, I'm not. You just surprised me. I didn't think there was a guy out there who appreciated you for you, but it looks like I was proven dead wrong. If Flash Magnus makes you happy, then who am I to be mad at you or stand in the way of your love for him for that matter?" Blazing asked.
Aqua and Flash were both happy to know Blazing wasn't holding a grudge on them. "Thank you for understanding, Blazing, really it means a lot to me," Aqua said. "Anyways, now that you know, I suppose I should also let you know that one of these days, I'll be visiting his house so I can meet his friends. So, if the two of you want, then maybe I can tag you both along for the trip."
"We'll have to wait and see. We might have something planned during that time. But right now, it looks like our drinks are finally ready," Blazing said.
"Sweet. I was getting a bit thirsty," Rainbow said. Soon the waitress arrived with the two cups of coffee and two cups of orange juice. The waitress takes out her little notepad and asked everyone at the table what they would like to have to eat.
"How about getting me a nice tasty supreme omelette with some link sausages and hash browns," Flash said, darting his eyes from the menu to the waitress.
"I'll have a nice bowl of oatmeal with some crispy strips of bacon and a couple of hard boiled eggs," Aqua said, the waitress jotting down her order before turning to Rainbow and Blazing.
"Hit me up with a nice hot plate of pancakes with link sausages and scrambled eggs," Rainbow said.
"Same thing as her," Blazing said. "But I'd like a hash brown instead of eggs and make sure that it's not too soft and not too crunchy, please."
"Of course, I'll have your meals ready momentarily," the waitress said. After that, the waitress left to go and tell the cooks the orders, leaving the group to have another pleasant talk amongst each other.
Flash got to hear out Blazing's entire story about how he and Rainbow Dash started hanging out as friends at first after he was done with high school. She gave him some words of advise after explaining how he and his mom were on bad terms at one point. And it was thanks to Dash that he and his mom made up and became a lot more closer and she even approved of Rainbow being with him. Flash even learned that his girlfriend was part of this old band called The Rainbooms. But ever since high school ended, the band was discontinued, but her friends still make time to hang out with each other.
Aqua stated that when Blazing and Rainbow held a party for one of their friends who was having a baby. Flash widened his eyes when he learned that Rainbow's friend, Applejack would be a mother. Flash told Rainbow to give his congrats to her when she had the time.
Rainbow Dash agreed to keep that in mind the next time she visited AJ. As Blazing and Rainbow continued on with their story on their love life, Flash continued to hear them out while he admired the kind of man Blazing Waters had become over the years. It got him thinking what it'd be like to have him for a step-son and maybe one of these days spend some quality time with him as part of a family. The whole time, Flash had that proud look on his face as if he was staring directly at his very own son. And who knows, maybe his dream of being a father to a son might not be dead as he might think it is.
