Star Wars EQG: Episode 1, Harmony of the Force
Chapter 33
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe attack on Canterlot was in full swing, with the Sith's army on the ground and in the air causing serious damage.
The Jedi and Sector Security were fighting hard to protect the citizens of the planet, focusing on evacuation and defeating as many droids and bug fighters as possible. But the sudden attack had left them scrambling to catch up, with the Sith's army appearing to be never ending.
On the ground, Lightning Blitz was racing through the city blasting any droid he spotted. Rarity, Ruby and several others were also there, with the droid's numbers lowering every minute. But whilst droids were untiring machines, they were starting to feel the exhaustion.
Lightning shot a droid and as he turned to blast another, he found his weapons weren't firing. "Out of power?" Lightning had never run out of ammo before. "Not good." The battle droid in question, pointed its blaster at him. But before it could fire, it was pushed backwards by an invisible force and smashed into the side of a building.
"Are you okay?" Rarity rushed over to him, as he slotted his blasters into the holster.
"I'll be fine. My holsters can recharge them, but it's gonna take a few minutes." Ruby ran onto the scene at this moment, cutting through a Wasp Droid that got too close.
"We need to stop these things at the source. We'll just exhaust ourselves if we try to fight them one at a time."
"But how do we do that?" Rarity frowned, as Lightning looked up at the destroyer that floated above their head.
"That's how. The droids must be getting their commands from there. if we can find it and take it out, we might be able to disable them." The Jedi realised he was right, but how could they get up there?
They got their answer, when Lightning began to run towards his cruiser. The two followed him and he climbed on board, the two getting in the spot he usually placed prisoners. "Are you sure this is a good idea?" Rarity asked. "They'll see us coming a mile away and blast us out of the sky before we even get close."
"Don't be so sure." Lightning flipped a switch and as the cruiser's cockpit closed, the entire ship suddenly began to disappear. "Cloaking device I installed for stakeouts. Blocks us from sight and radar. They won't see us coming." Rarity and Ruby smiled, as Lightning took off and flew towards the main destroyer.
But as they flew through the air, a Delta-X almost crashed into them. "WOW!" Ruby clutched the side of the seat, as Lightning barely pulled them out of the way in time.
"Yeah," Lightning nodded, "small downside. We have to be careful, so nobody accidentally crashes into us." The Jedi suddenly didn't like this idea so much.
In another part of the battlefield, Celestia was fighting against several battle droids as the rest of the Jedi continued to help the civilians get to safety.
The Jedi Grandmaster was fought with everything she had, slicing through the machines faster than they could fire at her. She couldn't allow them to get a shot off. Every shot had the potential to do horrendous damage. As such, she fought like a woman possessed.
A battle droid found itself beheaded, whilst a wasp droid was cut in half and a scorpion was de-tailed before getting its head stabbed in. Several more droids then found themselves getting crushed into a large metal ball, which she used to bowl down several more robots.
As this was happening, the healers and several more Jedi were doing their best to save those that had been put in danger.
"Hold on," Fluttershy told a woman that was currently trapped under some rubble. A fighter had blasted part of a building and caused it to collapse, with many trapped beneath it. Too many had already succumbed to the collapse and died, but others were still clinging to life and they were the ones that were being focused on right now.
A bunch of Jedi were doing their best to lift the rubble, levitating it off of them. They had to be careful, since moving it the wrong way could result in another part falling and crushing one of them. "Almost got it," the Jedi cried. But as he said that, a battle droid appeared and prepared to blast him. If that happened, the rubble would fall back down and crush the innocent.
But before it could, First Aid appeared and started firing at them with his twin blast sabers. The master healer was doing his other role of protecting lives, keeping the Jedi safe so they didn't have to worry about protecting themselves and focus on saving others.
The Jedi Medic fired several shots to disarm the machines before switching his weapons to their sword mode and leaping at them, slashing them to pieces whilst the others finished their job.
"Okay!" The Jedi cried, as the last piece of rubble was lifted up. "Go!" Fluttershy and a few more Padawans, grabbed the injured and pulled them out from under the rubble. Some had to be careful, since their civilians were laying on a sharp piece of metal or glass. But eventually, they managed to get them all out as First dealt with the last droid.
"Is everyone okay?" First asked, as the Jedi dropped the pile of rubble. The healers began to check and much to their relief, nobody had any serious wounds. Their injuries could be left until they were somewhere safer. "Let us get these people to safety. Move out!" They nodded and as they began to evacuate, Celestia flew in.
"Sitrep?"
"We have gotten most of the casualties out of this area," First replied. "We could not save everyone, but most should be perfectly fine in a day or two." Celestia nodded, as she looked around.
They were in the middle of the battle zone and everywhere she looked, she could see absolute carnage all around her. The ships were being shot down, both Sith and Jedi alike, whilst more droids and Jedi dropped like flies. All this destruction and for what?
Suddenly, Celestia's entire body screamed in pain. She could sense something truly wicked happening and it was sending her survival instinct into overdrive. She screamed, clutching her head as she felt it. First saw this and rushed to her aid.
"Master?" He raised his hand to try and heal her, but Celestia stopped him.
"No. I'm fine. But I sense something." She stood back up, her head still aching after what she had just seen. "Something truly wicked."
"A Sith?" First guessed, with Celestia nodding.
"But nothing like the ones I've felt before." She had a sinking feeling she knew what was happening. "I have to find this. If it's what I think it is, no other Jedi will stand a chance." She spread her wings. "Keep up the evacuation. Don't stop until you've rescued everyone that can be saved." First nodded, as Celestia ran to the edge of the platform and leapt into the air. She flew off towards the source of the dark energy and feared what she would find. "If you're here, I'll end this here and now."
In another part of the city, Thorax was fighting against someone he never expected to meet. His mother.
Chrysalis slashed at him, showing greater skill with a Lightsaber than Thorax had. It was all the Padawan could do to keep himself from getting cut to ribbons. Every time she slashed at him, Thorax was barely able to block. It'd probably be a lot worse, if Chrysalis was actually trying to hurt him.
"Don't fight me!" She swung her blade down and Thorax blocked, the two locked together and glaring at each other. "I'm trying to help you."
"Help me?" Thorax asked. "You abandoned me on a barely inhabited planet. It's a miracle the Jedi found me and took me in."
"That wasn't my fault," Chrysalis cried as she overpowered him and knocked the Padawan staggering back. "We were in hyperspace and escaping from an enemy. You and your brother were both in an escape pod. A malfunction caused your pod to be ejected before we could leave the hyperspace tunnel. I tried to find you again, but the Jedi must have found you before I could detect your pod."
Thorax frowned. He had often wondered why he had been in the pod he was found in. Many had suspected he had been abandoned by his family. But now...
"That doesn't matter," he told her. "Even if losing me was an accident, you chose to join The Sith and attack people. Turning the rest of our kind into drones. Soldiers that kill and let themselves die whenever they're beaten."
"Those soldiers are nothing," Chrysalis stated. "They're rejects. Unfit to help reinforce our race's numbers."
"What are you talking about?" Thorax asked, as Pharynx ran over to them.
"They're all clones." Thorax's brother continued to point his blaster at Thorax. "Sombra gave us the chance to restore our race to its former glory. Mother joined him and was given the chance to use the cloning technology Sombra had. With it, she was able to create a new generation of our race."
"Are you nuts?" Thorax had read up on cloning and its attempt to restore dying species. But none of them had ever worked before. "You can't just clone a new race. If we're the only ones left, that's not a good enough genetic pool."
"We know that," Chrysalis nodded. "I already have plans to fix that issue. Sombra promised to help restore our race, so long as we helped him overthrow the Jedi and this entire republic. Once that happens, we can clone our race to be more than just mindless soldiers. Besides, we needed to practise in order to make sure our species didn't fall victim to the plague that almost wiped us out before."
Thorax raised an eyebrow. "Plague?"
"I'm guessing you can't fly for very long," Pharynx stated. "You can thank the plague for that." Thorax glanced back at his wings, remembering all the times he had tried to fly but couldn't manage more than a few minutes. He thought it had just been him, but...
"Come with us," Chrysalis told him. "If I add your DNA into the mix, I can create an even stronger breed of bug trooper. The Jedi won't stand a chance."
"Never!" Thorax cried, trying to push them both back with The Force. Pharynx was thrown backwards, but Chrysalis raised her hand and used it to block Thorax's Force Push. He pushed as hard as he could, but Chrysalis wasn't even trying and was able to hold him back. "It doesn't have to be this way. The Republic would help you. You don't need the Sith."
"Does the Republic have access to cloning technology?" Thorax frowned, unsure how to answer that. "And if they did, would they really bother to help us? I want to create an entire race of our people. Restore us to what we once were. Millions of us. Would the Republic really be willing to help us with that? Give us a planet of our own, where we can live our lives without them trying to control us."
"I...I don't know."
"Exactly. Sombra swore to give us a world of our own to call home. Helping him might make me the villain, but a leader must make the hard decisions for the fate of their people." Chrysalis thrust her hand back and Thorax was thrown backwards, the Padawan crying out as his arms and legs flailed about. He crashed into the rubble of a destroyed building and cried out, as Pharynx returned to his mother.
Thorax laid there, letting Chrysalis' words sink in. If she was only doing this to save their race, was she really a villain? Or just someone manipulated by a true villain? He wasn't sure what the answer to that question was.
He tried to push himself back up, but Chrysalis used The Force to push him back to the ground. Thorax cried out, as he was shoved down into the rubble and felt it digging into him. "This hurts me as much as it hurts you. but as your queen and mother, it's my duty to discipline you for your disobedient attitude."
Pharynx frowned at him. "We'll take you back to the ship, once you've calmed down and gone to sleep. Trust me. You're gonna appreciate this someday."
Thorax groaned, the pain in his back growing more and more serious with each passing second. If he didn't find a way to free himself from this, he might end up getting paralysed by a broken spine.
Up in the sky, Lightning's invisible cruiser had finally reached the destroyer.
They watched, as ships flew in and out of the main drop hole. "There's no way we're getting in there without being noticed." Lightning used his cruiser to scan the ship. "There's gotta be some other way in there. I read that Sentry and Armor managed to find a way to sneak into this kind of ship. How'd they do it?"
Ruby frowned. "From what they told us. They blasted a hole in the side of the ship and ejected at the last minute. But their ships were destroyed."
"Right," Lightning wasn't big on that idea.
"Look!" Rarity pointed at part of the ship, which looked like it could open. "I think that's a droid access hatch. We might be able to get in through there." Lightning nodded and flew over to the hatch, opening the top of his cruiser as Ruby stood up.
The woman could now be seen, but she quickly found the hatch's manual override and opened it before leaping up into the shaft. The tunnel wasn't too large, so she was able to easily use her legs and back to keep herself from sliding back down it.
Rarity did the same and whilst Lightning couldn't jump like a Jedi, he quickly pulled a pair of magnetic gloves out of his glove-box and used them to lift himself into the shaft. Once he was up inside of it, he remotely closed his cruiser's canopy before spinning around and using the magnets on the bottom to lock onto the ships underside.
As he was doing this, Ruby and Rarity pushed themselves up the passageway. It took a minute, but they finally arrived at the exit. "Here we go." Lightning followed them, as Ruby opened the hatch and carefully looked around. To her joy, the room they were in was empty. Nothing except an old astromech in a corner.
She quickly pulled herself out and held her Padawan, Lightning pulling himself out as they headed for the door. "We're in."
"Don't be too excited," Ruby told him. "Getting in was the easy part. Now we have to find the controls for the droids and shut them down."
"Any idea where that might be?" Lightning asked, as Rarity held up her gauntlet and started scanning the place.
"I think I've found it." They turned to her. "Or, at least, I've found the ship's power supply. The droid controls must be connected to that. We take out the ship's power, the droids lose their means of being given orders."
"Excellent," Ruby began to follow Rarity through the ship. "But we can't take out the ship's power supply. That'd drop it down on top of the city. We need to only take out the ship's connection between the power and the droid controls. And maybe some of the other systems."
"Like the weapons and maybe the force fields," Lightning guessed as they turned a corner. But in doing so, they came face to face with a bunch of bug troopers.
The insects saw them and were taken by surprise, allowing Lightning to draw his blasters and shoot some of them. Rarity and Ruby activated their Lightsabers and as the bug troopers fired, the pair blocked using the blades and allowed Lightning to take them down.
But as one fell, they hit something on their armor and an alarm filled the air. "There goes the element of surprise," Ruby rushed forward. "Come on. They're gonna send more to this spot. We need to get out of here." The two nodded and followed up, hoping they could reach the power supply before it was too late.
Back on the planet, Flash and Springer were racing around in their Delta-X.
Flash was moving around like a madman, dodging laser fire and blasting the bug trooper's ship before they could fire again. He barrel rolled to avoid colliding with a ship that was on fire, whilst a bunch of wasp droids flew up to try and shoot them down. But they were quickly dealt with.
Flash checked his ship's fuel and laser banks, frowning when he saw he was beginning to run lower. So as he dodged another bout of laser fire, he opened a channel to his master. "Shining. My ship's about to run dry."
"Same," Shining replied. "I might have to put my ship down somewhere and continue to fight on the ground. You might need to join me. Think Springer can handle getting your ship back to the temple without getting hit?"
"I'm insulted you even need to ask," Springer replied. "I'll get this thing back in no time. But we really need to give this thing a longer lasting power core."
"We have been pushing it to its limits." Flash spotted Shining's signal and flew in its direction, shooting down a few more bug ships before reaching him. The two Delta-Xs flew side by side, Flash switching control to the droid before opening his cockpit and pulling himself up and out of it.
Shining saw what he was doing and flew closer, allowing Flash to jump over to him. As soon as he was on the Delta-X, Springer pulled away before shooting off back to the temple. Flash watched him go, then had to duck as a laser flew overhead. "Get us on the ground!"
"Working on it!" Shining cried, as he flew down in search of an area they could land safely.
He finally spotted one that was big enough, but it had a bunch of droids on it. "I got this!" Flash ignited his sword and as Shining dived the ship down, Flash leapt off before the droids could notice them. He landed on a scorpion droid's back and quickly cut his way through the machine's weapons before stabbing its head, as the droids pointed their weapons at him.
Flash did a back-flip and landed behind the scorpion, which began to take the full brunt of the lasers.
As the machine was blown to pieces, Flash ran out from behind it and started cutting through the rest of the droids. The battle droids were easy enough to take out, whilst the wasps flew up higher to protect themselves.
But before they could shoot Flash, Shining blasted them with the last of his ship's weapon power. They destroyed the last at the same time Flash beheaded a battle droid, the teen using the Force to push the remains of the machines away. This left an open space for the ship to fly down and land, Flash keeping watch as Shining powered down and climbed out.
Once his mentor was on the ground, Flash nodded at him and the pair charged towards the closest battlefield with Lightsabers at the ready. They didn't know how long this attack would last, but they knew they needed to keep fighting and protect Canterlot no matter what.
Thorax's body was screaming at him, as the rubble beneath his continued to stab into his back.
Chrysalis kept pushing down on him, as Pharynx kept his weapon pointed at him. The insectoid queen showed no emotion to see her child in pain, as Thorax kept trying to break free from her hold. "Just let it happen. Don't fight it."
"Ahhh!" Thorax groaned, wishing his friends were there.
"There's so much about our people that you don't know. Let me show you why we must survive. Why we are more important than these pathetic beings. Once you understand that, you will understand why I'm doing what I'm doing."
Thorax could feel himself beginning to fade. He tried one last time to fight against her hold, but it was no use.
However, at the last moment, a ship suddenly flew into the area and flew down fast enough to unleash a powerful wind. Said wind sent Chrysalis and Pharynx flying backwards, causing her to lose her grip on Thorax.
The Padawan gasped, as he felt the pressure on him vanish. He coughed and rolled off the rubble, then looked up and saw The Shooting Star up above him. The Ship hovered over him and the ramp lowered, allowing someone to step out and leap down towards him.
Cadance landed between Thorax and Chrysalis, as the Sith pushed herself back to her feet. And as The Shooting Star flew off, Cadance ignited her sword. "What do you think you're doing to my student?"
Chrysalis glared at her and raised her own Lightsaber. "I'm disciplining my son. Kindly move aside and allow me to finish teaching him a lesson he needs." Cadance seemed only half surprised by this sudden statement, but she quickly got over it.
"I don't think so. He may be your son, but he's a member of the Jedi Order. That means he's now under my guidance. If anyone will be teaching him anything, it's me."
Thorax pushed himself up and spotted his Lightsaber, summoning it and moving over to Cadance. "I need to fight her."
"No," Cadance stopped him. "I know you wish to stop her from hurting anyone else, but this is too much for you right now." She got into a fighting stance. "Leave her to me." Thorax frowned, but nodded. He knew Cadance could handle Chrysalis. And sure enough, as Chrysalis shot forward, Cadance mirrored her movements and the two clashed.
Their Lightsabers connected and both appeared to be at even strength, both able to push each other away and hold their balance. They then charged again and the pair's blades sparked with every impact, the two appearing to have equal levels of speed and strength. They were dead even.
Thorax watched them fight, only to then see Pharynx point his blaster at Cadance.
But before he could fire, Thorax flew in and got between them. "Why are you protecting her?"
"She's my teacher," Thorax explained. "What other reason is there? She's always been there for me and helped me grow stronger. She's been more of a mother to me, than Chrysalis ever has or will. And I refuse to let you cheap shot her."
"You really have been brainwashed." Pharynx fired at him, Thorax deflecting the shots over and charging at him. "She won't stand a chance against our mother. She'll be taken down in no time and when that happens, we'll take you back with us." Thorax refused to let that happen. He would taken Pharynx down and help Cadance defeat Chrysalis. He just hoped he could do it without killing either of them.
At the same time, Celestia was flying through the battlefield.
She was still searching for the source of the dark sensation she had been feeling, which was getting stronger with each passing second. And eventually, she spotted an area ahead that was covered in smoke and dust. And it was from there that she could feel the dark energy.
She flew into the area and looked around, trying to find the cause. But it was so hard to see, she was almost completely blind.
However, she soon felt herself accidentally kicking something and looked down. And when she did, she gasped at the sight of a burned and battered body on the ground. It was barely recognisable, but she made it a point to know every member of the order. And the body she found was a young Padawan that had had a bright and promising future.
"No," she whispered as the smoke around her began to fade away. As it did, more and more bodies were revealed. All of Knights and Padawans, cut down and burnt to almost a crisp. Celestia felt her stomach turn. In the three centuries she had lived, she had seen many terrible things. But this had to be one of the worst.
Suddenly, she heard movement ahead of her and looked up.
A figure was moving towards her. A large figure with an outline she recognised. And as they got closer, she could sense their unique Force Signature. "Master Wyndor." She walked forward, "what's happening here?" But then the figure stepped out of the smoke and she gasped.
The four-armed alien wasn't four-armed anymore. Each of his limbs had been sliced off, whilst his large body was covered in burns, bruises, cuts and even had chunks missing. The Jedi Master was an absolute wreck and as soon as he saw Celestia, his legs gave out and he fell forward.
"Wyndor!" She rushed over to him and placed her hand on his neck, trying to feel for a pulse. He had one, but it was weak. "Hold on. We'll...we'll find a way to save you."
"No," he groaned out, "too late. You...have to stop him. He's...so strong. Nobody else, but you...can stop him." As he said that, Celestia sensed something and her gaze rose to meet a figure appearing in the last of the smoke.
In fact, he wasn't appearing in the smoke. He was appearing from the smoke. The last of the dark clouds were beginning to form his body and as he stepped forward, he absorbed more and more of the darkness. And eventually, he was fully formed and stared back at her. "Hello, Celestia."
"Sombra," Celestia growled as she stood there. Sombra didn't have a Lightsaber out, but she knew he likely had one on his person. "I never thought we'd be in this situation again."
"I did," Sombra smiled. "It was only a matter of time before we faced off again. But don't expect this to go the same way as our last face off. You won't be getting the better of me this time."
Celestia frowned. "Why did it have to come to this? You had so much potential. You could have one day stood as the Grand Master of the entire order."
"Maybe," Sombra told her, "but who would have wanted to be master of that prison? You may hate me for what I did, but we both know your Jedi Order is stronger thanks to me. If I hadn't done what I did, you never would have risen to Jedi Grand Master. You never would have realised the order needed to change. You remember how restrictive the order once was. The pointless rules that did nothing but try and turn us into unfeeling machines."
"We could have changed things without the bloodshed."
"Don't be a fool," Sombra told her. "Those old fossils were too set in their ways. They had to suffer through those rules, so we had to as well. If I hadn't done what I did, you never would have opened your eyes. Face it, you owe me for helping you get where you are now."
Celestia frowned, but nodded. "Maybe you're right. As much as I wish things could be different, we can't change the past. This is the world we're living in now. I chose my path and you chose yours." She shot him a glare. "I can't change the past, but I can make sure the future is one where the galaxy is at peace. And that means stopping you, once and for all."
"You can try," Sombra held his hands up. "But my power has grown far beyond that of any Jedi. Even you." Large chunks of the destroyed city, floated up around him. He then thrust his hands forward and sent the rocks towards Celestia, who acted quickly and grabbed them herself.
Once they stopped, she clenched his fist and the rocks crumpled to dust. Dust that she sent flying safely away from herself.
Sombra threw more and more debris towards her, but Celestia held her hand up and the rocks all disintegrated as soon as they touched whatever invisible barrier she had put up. Sombra frowned at this, as his body sparked with energy.
"You chose the Dark Side because it was easier. Power simply given, is no true power at all."
Sombra raised his hand. "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to abilities you Jedi are too scared to wield." With that, he unleashed a burst of red lightning towards the omni.
Celestia appeared shocked by this, but held up her hand and caught the lightning. She was pushed back a few inches, but managed to hold her ground as the energy was condensed in her hand. And eventually, Sombra stopped and she held the orb tightly. "I don't fear this power. It's just not worth selling your soul for." With that, Celestia thrust the sphere forwards and it exploded back towards Sombra.
The Sith Lord raised his own hand and when the lightning hit it, it bounced off and shot into the air towards a nearby building.
As soon as it struck, the building exploded and sent debris flying everywhere. But Celestia managed to catch it in her Force Grip, as Sombra unleashed another blast of red lightning. Celestia had no difficulty, catching this one whilst still holding the debris above her head.
After a few moments, Sombra stopped and Celestia simply dispelled the energy whilst placing the rock down behind her. Sombra then reached for his belt. "Clearly, this battle will not be decided by our knowledge of The Force." He ignited his blade. "But by our skills with a Lightsaber."
Celestia raised her hand and her Lightsaber flew into it, the yellow blade extending from it.
The two Force leaders stared one another down, then charged without another word exchanged between them. Both took to the air, Celestia spreading her wings whilst Sombra morphed into a partially cloudy figure. When they met, their Lightsabers clashed and unleashed a brilliant flash of light.
Back on the Destroyer, Lightning, Rarity and Ruby were making their way through the ship.
Whenever they came across a group of bug troopers, they quickly dispatched them and continued through the metal hallways. "How much further?" Lightning asked as he turned a corner and almost got shot at, Rarity pulling him back before his head was hit.
Ruby checked the energy signature and frowned. "It said we're close, but whoever built this ship practically turned it into a maze. All the spots close to the power core, don't have a way to actually get in there."
"That must have been intentional," Rarity pointed out. "If there's only one way into the power core, they have an easier means of defending it."
"She's right," Lightning nodded. "And since we don't have any schematics of these ships, all we can do is walk around blind until we find it." Ruby frowned, agreeing by hating how difficult this was.
"Let's just hope we find it before we get trapped somewhere we can't fight our way out of." As she said that, the bug trooper that fired at them charged and she had to cut him in half. Rarity they Forced the insect backwards and Lightning fired at the rest.
Once they were knocked down, Lightning and the girls made their way down the hall. Hopefully, the power core was close.
Up on the main bridge, Doom Raizer continued to give orders. But things had gotten out of control, especially with the announcement of intruders.
"Where are they?" He asked a bug trooper, who was typing on a computer in an attempt to locate where their uninvited guests were hiding.
"Found them," he stated before bringing up a security hologram. Doom watched and recognised Ruby Scarlet, but couldn't quite figure out who the other Jedi was. But then, he saw the other person with them and his eyes went wide.
"Lightning." He hadn't seen his son in years. The last time he saw him, his son had only been a young boy. Now he was a full grown adult and working against him. "Son. Why are you helping the Jedi?" He had to see him. "Keep following the plan. I will deal with these intruders myself."
"Yes sir," the troopers announced as they kept the ship hovering over the planet. Doom turned and walked out of the room, heading straight to the power core. There were only two ways to that area. The normal way and a special passage that connected the power core directly to the bridge. If the three continued to be held up, Doom would arrive there before them.
Cadance and Chrysalis continued their fight against one another, as Thorax and Pharynx also clashed.
Cadance spread her wings and took off, flying over to a rubble pile whilst Chrysalis frowned. Despite having her own wings, she was clearly worried about using them. This gave Cadance an opening, the Jedi Knight lifting parts of the rubble pile up and sending them flying at her.
Chrysalis marched forward and threw her empty hand around, deflecting the rubble as she got closer and closer.
Cadance saw this and noticed some more rubble behind Chrysalis, the Omni reaching out before pulling it towards the insectoid Sith. But Chrysalis seemed to noticed the movement and spun around, swinging her Lightsaber around and cutting the rock in half.
"HYAAAH!" She spun back around and blocked Cadance's sword strike, the pair pushing against one another and as they glared at the other.
"I won't let you stop me from taking my son home."
"Thorax is home," Cadance grunted. "The Jedi Order is his home. Has been ever since you abandoned him."
"I didn't abandon him!" Chrysalis' rage fuelled her strength and allowed her to push the omni backwards, Cadance using her wings to keep herself stable. "I lost him. And I would have found him again if you fools hadn't interfered and taken him away."
"Thorax was close to death when they found him," Cadance stated. "If they hadn't taken him, he probably wouldn't have survived to the next day. He was cold, hungry and scared. The Jedi saved him."
"And brainwashed him into caring about them over his own kind."
Cadance wanted to argue, but knew it would be pointless. Instead, she simply charged again and attempted to overpower Chrysalis. But the Sith's anger was fuelling her power. Their previous stalemate had vanished, Chrysalis' power proving greater than Cadance's.
Every time their swords clashed, Cadance felt herself getting overpowered. This wasn't looking good.
Thorax was also having trouble against his opponent, as Pharynx was proving to be a tougher opponent than he had hoped. Whenever Thorax tried to destroy his blaster, Pharynx pulled his weapon away and leapt back before trying to fire. Thorax barely managed to block the laser, the impact knocking him back a bit and allowing Pharynx to leap forward and deal a hick to him.
"Those Jedi will turn you into a servant," Pharynx told him. "Force you to risk your life for people you don't know. Come with us and one day, you'll be able to become a king. You're the firstborn, it's your right."
"Never," Thorax cried as he swung his sword at the insect and missed. "I am a Jedi. I swore to protect this galaxy and all those that live in it. I refuse to become a tyrant that only cares about himself."
"You would condemn our people to extinction?"
"I'd tell you to find a way to survive, that doesn't involve killing." He ducked under Pharynx's blaster fire and swung his sword up, his brother barely managing to pull his weapon away. "If our race has to hurt others to survive, then we don't deserve to survive!" Thorax thrust his hand forward and before Pharynx could react, he was thrown backwards at high speed and crashed into another pile of rubble.
He cried out and fell to the ground, his weapon being thrown from his hand as he groaned.
Thorax stared down at his brother and felt horrible, the sight of him in pain actually hurting the Padawan. He had only just met this person and they had done nothing but fight. But he was still his brother.
Thorax approached him, using The Force to move the blaster further away. And as Pharynx began to recover, Thorax pointed his weapon at him. The two locked eyes, as the green blade was inches away from the bug trooper's neck. Pharynx then smiled at him.
"Go ahead. Do it. Kill me. If you don't think our race should survive, then cut me down." Thorax frowned. "What's the matter? Too scared?"
Thorax remained quiet for a moment, then pulled his sword away. "No. Killing an unarmed opponent is not the Jedi way."
"So what are you gonna do? Just stay standing there until mother or your teacher are finished with one another?" He looked around. "Seems it's not gonna last much longer. Your mentor's getting her butt handed to her."
Thorax chanced a glance and sure enough, Cadance was in trouble. She was being overpowered and it was clear the only reason she hadn't been beaten yet, was because she could fly as much as she wanted whilst Chrysalis couldn't.
Chrysalis started throwing rocks and debris all over the place, sending it flying towards Cadance at high speed. The Jedi barely managed to avoid all the attacks, dodging them in the air or cutting the rock in half. But there was only so long one could play defence before the opponent got lucky.
"AUGH!" She screamed, as a piece of rubble hit her wing and she fell to the ground.
"Cadance!" Thorax cried, as Pharynx tried to use his distraction to roll away from the Lightsaber before tackling him. But without his blaster, Thorax had the edge and dodged the strike. He then grabbed his brother in The Force and threw him forward.
Pharynx hit his head on a rock and was knocked out, falling to the ground as Thorax flew towards the fight.
As Cadance picked herself up, Chrysalis leapt into the air and fell towards her. She brought her blade down towards the omni, hoping to cut her head in half. Cadance tried to summon her Lightsaber, but she wouldn't be able to activate it in time.
But before Chrysalis' attack could land, Thorax thrust his sword between them and blocked the red blade.
Chrysalis turned to her son, her anger growing stronger as she saw him protect her enemy. "Stay away from her!" He used all his strength to push Chrysalis away, allowing Cadance to pick herself up.
The omni's wing was injured, taking flight off the table. She and Thorax stood side by side, whilst Chrysalis glanced over at her unconscious son. The insect turned to shoot daggers at the two, Thorax and Cadance standing side by side with their Lightsabers raised.
If they wanted to win this, they had to do it together.
Lightning, Rarity and Ruby glanced around a corner, allowing them to see a bunch of bug troopers standing guard over a door.
"That has to be it," Ruby stated. "That's gotta be the entrance to the power core. Once we're in, we can cut power to the droid control system."
"That's a lot of guards," Rarity frowned. "And this is a very cramped space. Fighting our way through them isn't going to be easy. And what if they trip an alarm and force the door to lock?"
"I might have something that can help with that," Lightning removed something from his belt. "This'll take them out quick and easy. I was saving it for a situation just like this." He started fiddling with it. "About five seconds should do it."
"Five seconds before what?" Lightning didn't answer and pressed the button on the top before leaping out and throwing it at the bug troopers, the security officer leaping back behind the wall before a bright flash and a bang filled the air.
When the light died down, Rarity and Ruby looked around and saw the bug troopers were laid out on the ground. They weren't dead, but they didn't look like they would be moving any time soon.
"Stun grenade?" Ruby asked, as Lightning nodded.
"A little something we use if a large group gets out of hand. No lasting damage, but it'll only last an hour. We need to be in and out before it wears off." They nodded and all moved around them, the bugs continuing to moan as they reached the door. Lightning tried to open it, but the room was locked up tight.
"Here," Rarity found a key card on one of the bugs. "Try this." He nodded and swiped the card down the lock, causing it to beep before the door slid open.
They headed inside, expecting to see a bunch of bug troopers or droids. But they didn't see anything. The whole place was deserted. "Where is everyone?" Ruby looked around, seeing a bunch of computer terminals around the edge of the room. A few tables with touch screens could be seen scattered throughout it, but the most noticeable thing was the power core.
Contained within a large tube, the energy within was pulsing with multiple different colours.
"Gorgeous," Rarity whispered.
"It's just a power core," Lightning stated. "You've never seen one before?"
"No," Rarity shook her head, "I've never been on a ship this big. Most ships I've been on are simple flyers or freighters. They certainly didn't have engines like this."
"We'll have to save the sightseeing for later," Ruby rushed over to a computer. "I don't know why there's nobody here, but let's use this chance to shut down the droids." But as she touched the console, she suddenly found herself getting a zap. "Gah!" She shook her hands, "someone's electrified the console."
"What?" Lightning tried another and also got a light zap, "not just that one. The whole place must be electrified."
"Why would anyone do that?" Rarity asked, as another voice suddenly spoke up.
"To keep annoying pests like you from messing with our plans." Their eyes went wide and they slowly turned towards the voice, as someone stepped out from behind the power core. Someone wearing dark leather and carrying a red Lightsaber.
"Doom," Ruby gasped. She and Rarity glanced over at Lightning, who looked shocked to see him. They had no idea how this whole situation would play out. But they had a bad feeling about it.
Down on Canterlot, Celestia and Sombra's battle continued.
The two Force Masters flew through the air, shooting towards one another and slashing at the other to try and deal a damaging blow. But the two were equally matched and had no way to get past the other's defences.
Celestia flew backwards until her hooves came in contact with a building, which she quickly kicked off as she shot towards Sombra in his smokey form. But Sombra went completely shadow and her blade cut through it like it was nothing.
Celestia didn't want to find out what happened if her skin touched this smoke, so she quickly Forced it away from her as she flew through the cloud. She dived down and spun back around, as the Sombra partially reformed before shooting towards her.
His red saber swung downwards and she managed to block it with her own, but the force of the impact pushed her downwards towards the ground. They kept their weapons locked, as they fell further and further down.
As this was going on, Luna happened to be flying towards them after seeing the dark cloud in the sky.
As she approached, she suddenly felt a powerful dark sensation and realised a Sith was likely the cause of it. And when she investigated, she gasped at the sight of her sister and who she was fighting. "Sombra." She growled as she pushed her Delta-X towards the fight. "Hold on." She dared not use her lasers, not wanting to hurt her sister.
Instead, she flew at them at high speed and positioned her ship to slice its wing through Sombra.
Celestia and Sombra heard the ship and looked around to see the Delta-X, Celestia realising it was Luna piloting the ship. This made her smile and using as much strength as she could, she pushed Sombra back up and let her wings stop so she fell away from him.
Sombra's cloud form remained in place, as the Delta-X's wing cut through it and caused the smoke to be dispersed.
Celestia spread her wings again and as Luna pulled back around, the shadows began to spiral around to reformed Sombra's physical form. But now that Celestia was away from him, Luna was able to launch her lasers without worrying about hitting her.
The shots flew towards Sombra, but the Sith once again exploded into smoke and the lasers simply passed through him.
The cloud then flew towards the Delta-X and Celestia gasped, as she realised what Sombra was probably planning to do. "Luna!" She quickly opened a channel to her sister, "get away from him. Don't let him touch your ship!"
Luna heard this and tried to pull away, but it was too late. The cloud reached her and Sombra's hand materialised before touching the outside of the Delta-X, red lightning exploding into the machine. This lightning spread throughout the ship's systems and even gave Luna a slight zap.
"Augh!" She pulled back, as her console went haywire. "Not good." She tried to regain control, but her systems were fried and she was beginning to lose control. "Bailing out!" She pulled on the leaver, but the canopy refused to move. Sombra had somehow destroyed her ejection system as well.
"LUNA!" Celestia screamed, watching the ship fly out of control. "Get out of there!" But the ship flew behind a building and moments later, a loud crashing sound could be heard followed by the boom on an explosion.
Celestia's eyes went wide, as she realised what must have happened. She wanted to fly down and see for herself, but a laugh made her stop and look around. Sombra rematerialised and smiled at her. "Poor Luna. She always did have a problem with jumping into situations and getting herself in trouble. Some things never change."
"Sombra," Celestia growled. If she was any other Jedi, she might have flown into a rage at what had just happened. But she knew that wouldn't help her.
She raised her Lightsaber and charged, Sombra doing the same with the pair colliding with one another. They were moving so fast that to anyone watching, it would look like black and white lightning flying around. The two continued to clash over and over, red and yellow lightning sparking whenever they did.
As they fought, they were making their way closer and closer to the ground. And eventually, they reached the ground and landed in an area full of destroyed droids before leaping forward.
Their Lightsabers collided and a shockwave exploded off of them, as they pushed against one another. Sombra still smirked and Celestia's glare looked like it could melt concrete. If Celestia was in her right mindset, she might have been able to overpower Sombra.
But having just seen her sister's possible death, Celestia was thrown off her game for a single second as she remembered seeing the crash. And that second was all Sombra needed.
He held his blade with a single hand and used the other one to charge up a bunch of red lightning before letting it go, Celestia being unable to counter it and getting hit in the stomach. She let out a scream and was thrown backwards, eventually crashing into the bottom of a rubble pile and falling to the ground.
Sombra stepped forward, as Celestia twitched for several seconds. And as she tried to pick herself up, he unleashed another low bolt of lightning that hit her again.
"I could kill you so easily right now," he told her. "But I still need a host, so you'll be coming with me." Celestia cried out in pain, as the lightning made her feel like she was about to black out.
But before she did, two figures leapt over the rubble and her.
They both yelled out, as they sent several pieces of rubble flying towards Sombra. The Sith had to cancel his lightning blast and leap out of the way, as the two landed in front of Celestia. And when he saw who they were, his eyes widened. "You!"
Still dazed, Celestia opened her eyes and looked up to see Flash and Shining in front of her. The pair held their Lightsabers protectively, as they glared at the Sith. "We're not letting you hurt Celestia," Shining stated.
Flash nodded. "You want to get to her, you have to go through us." Sombra stared at the pair, then smiled.
"Fine then. If I deal with you two here, you won't be a threat to me in the future." He raised his own Lightsaber. "Bring it on. Let me show you the true power of the Dark Side." Flash and Shining shared a look, then nodded before they charged forward.
At the Jedi Temple, Twilight was in the main archive unsure what she should do at this time.
Celestia had asked her to stay behind and protect the relic, but she was starting to grow worried that the attack was still going on and there hadn't been any news yet. She thought about all her friends and began to worry about them, fearing one of them wouldn't be coming back.
Then there was the Jedi Temple's security. The younglings had all been sent to an underground shelter, with several Jedi protecting them whilst the Temple Guards kept the building safe from invaders. But so far, the Sith hadn't tried anything against the temple.
She frowned, wondering what they were waiting for. This temple was the centre of the Jedi's power. Where they lived, trained, made battle plans and rested after a long battle. This temple was their lifeline. Without it, fighting against the Sith would be much harder. So why weren't the Sith attempting to at least do some kind of damage to it? Even a few droids set to explode could cause serious havoc.
Twilight sighed, these thoughts making her feel depressed. She knew she needed to get her head focused. "Maybe I should go see how Sunset's doing." She hadn't heard from the amnesiac girl since she had asked her to return to her room. It was best she go and make sure she was okay.
As Twilight made her way out of the archive, her hands moved to her pocket and felt the relic within it. Celestia's words echoed in her head. Get out of the temple if anything happened and keep the relic out of harm's way.
Her footsteps echoed in the empty halls of the temple, since she was one of the only Jedi in the building at the moment. She had never realised how big the place was until now. It was kind of scary.
But as she made her way through the halls, they were suddenly joined by another set of heavy boot-steps. This made Twilight stop and raise an eyebrow, the equestrian feeling an uneasy sensation wash over her. She didn't know why, but she reached for her Lightsaber. And a few moments later, she saw something that made her grip it tightly.
From around a corner, a familiar dark cloaked figure stepped out and sauntered into view without a care in the world.
It was the Sith that Twilight had managed to take the relic from and escape before she could attack. A Sith Twilight had a feeling would love to get even with her after the last time they interacted. "Solara."
The masked figure stood in the centre of the hall and stared Twilight down, her Lightsaber in hand and igniting as Twilight did the same. The pair stared one another down, ready to fight like their lives depended on it.
Author's Note
Well this battle is certainly getting intense. Celestia's been taken down and now Flash and Shining have to face Sombra. Will they be able to win? Only time will tell. And how will things play out between Twilight and Solara?
