Star Wars EQG: Episode 1, Harmony of the Force
Chapter 44
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWithin the castle, Twilight and Celestia were racing through the halls.
The pair occasionally came across a group of bug troopers and had to fight their way through them. All the while, praying they could get to Sunset's location in time to save her from her inevitable fate. "You're in our way!" Celestia yelled, as she thrust her hand forward and sent the changelings flying back.
Twilight ran forward, deflecting the many blasts from the troopers that managed to hold onto their weapons as they were blown back. Celestia was right on her tail, as they turned a corner and came across a long hallway. "There!" She pointed at the end of the hallway, where an elevator was waiting for them.
Celestia nodded and as the Changelings began to pick themselves up, the pair ran down the hallway and got to the elevator right as the Bug Troopers pointed their weapons at them.
Hitting the button, the elevator remained closed as the car seemed to be down below. They had to wait, which meant they were sitting ducks as the changelings fired. The two began to defend against them, trying to knock as many blasts as they could back towards the bugs.
The changelings remained hidden around the corner, whilst Twilight and Celestia found themselves barely able to keep up with the number of lasers being sent towards them. Both cried out, as one almost hit Twilight's leg. Another barely missed Celestia's wing, forcing her to close them as small as she could.
"Come on!" Twilight cried, as she jumped back to avoid another shot. "How deep is this elevator?"
"Just keep defending," Celestia stated before they finally heard the sound of the elevator opening. "Never mind!" They jumped inside and as the changelings charged, hit the button to close to the door and send the elevator down.
The two sighed, both feeling exhausted after all that.
"Rest whilst you can," Celestia told her. "There's no telling what's waiting for us down below. We'll need to be ready for anything." Twilight nodded, taking this moment to centre herself and catch her breath. As she did, she began to worry about the rest of her friends.
The ones that had gone to save the slaves, Sunset as she remained trapped down below and moments away from being turned into a monsters, and Flash along with her brother. She didn't know where they were. But she prayed they were safe and doing what they could to help them escape.
In the throne room of the castle, Flash and Shining stared down Sombra as he stared down the pair.
The Sith Lord didn't seem surprised by their appearance, which made them frown. "Were you watching us?" Shining asked, as he raised his Lightsaber. But Sombra simply shook his head, "then how did you know we were coming here?"
"Oh, I foresaw this event a while ago. Before you even knew I existed." He stood up and slowly walked forward. "The Force warned me of this event. It must have known this was going to be an important moment. The time when my future would be decided."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Flash asked, but Shining frowned.
"This is a pivotal moment in the future of the Galaxy. Either you and I manage to kill him, or he kills us and likely becomes unstoppable." Sombra nodded, the Jedi sharing a look and nodding. "Then we've got no choice. Sombra. You're going down."
"I don't think so," Sombra stated. "You two are strong, I'll admit to that. But we all know the only reason you survived our fight on Canterlot was because Celestia and Luna were there." His arms sparked with red lightning. "On your own, the two of you are no match for my dark power." With that, he unleashed the lightning in two streams.
The pair raised their blades and blocked the lightning, both crying out as the impact caused them to be pushed back.
"Ahhh!" Flash cried, as a stray bolt got past his blade and singed his hair. The two fought against the power and with a roar, they both swung their blades around and the lightning was deflected towards the wall and ceiling.
The dark rock of the castle exploded, as they stood strong. Sombra smiled, as his body began to give off the black smoke. He was about to transform into a shadow and attack, but the Jedi were ready. "Not this time." Shining reached for his belt and took out a small orb, as Sombra charged forward and burst into shadows.
But before he could reach the pair, the orb in Shining's hand opened up.
This revealed a particular gemstone, which unleashed its energy to create a field around it. And when the shadow flew into that field, the cloud suddenly vanished and Sombra staggered out of it. "What?" He glared at Shining, who attached the now half orb to his belt. "What have you done?"
"Little something we picked up from one of the temples holding the relic keys. An Anti-Force Crystal."
Flash chuckled. "You're right. Shining and I don't stand a chance against your Dark Force Abilities. But without them, I think we have the advantage." Sombra's face was one of absolute horror, which quickly changed to anger.
"You think you're clever?" He ignited his own sword. "I've been wielding a Lightsaber longer than the last ten generations of your family have been alive. You may have taken my Force Abilities away, but that won't save you." With that, he leapt into the air and swung his sword at them as he landed.
Flash and Shining both blocked with their own swords, Sombra's blade clashing against theirs. He quickly pushed the pair back and went on the attack, focusing on Flash first since he was clearly the weaker of the two. Flash barely had time to defend himself, as he thought against Sombra's strikes.
Staggering backwards, Flash quickly found himself about to be cornered by the Sith. But Shining rushed in and attacked from behind, with Sombra ducking under the strike before jumping away from them.
Flash was then the one on the attack, charging in and swinging his blade towards the figure. But Sombra was able to defend himself with ease and knocked Flash off balance, Shining running in to take over.
Despite having his Force abilities negated, Sombra was able to leap into the air and flip over the Jedi.
Shining spun around and blocked Sombra's attack, as Flash regained his balance and attacked. But Sombra moved Shining and his blade around, Flash's connecting with theirs' as the pair tried to overpower him. But Sombra swung his leg up and kicked Shining in the side, knocking him away and letting Sombra push Flash away.
The Padawan staggered back and slammed into one of the pillars, hitting his head and flinching whilst Sombra moved around the throne room. Shining picked himself up and seeing Flash was dazed, realised he had to keep him safe until he could recover. As such, he charged and Sombra was ready to meet him head on.
Down in the caverns below the castle, Sunset was still chained to the rock floor.
The droids around her were making preparations for the ceremony, as they placed two of the keys into place. Once the third was slotted in, the portal would open. And Sunset would be dead.
She looked down at her hands, which were both encased in mechanical tubes that prevented her from using the Force to open them. She tried to pull on them, but the metal was just too strong. "Come on." She tried to break them, with little success. "Please."
The final droid began to move towards the archway. Sunset was running out of time.
"Stop!" She yelled, hoping Sombra had forgotten to remove her voice pattern from the droid's command sequence. And the droid actually stopped, turning to her as if waiting for her to give another order. "No way." She raised her manacled arms. "Release me!" One of the droids actually moved towards her, holding a key in its hand that would undo the shackle.
She smiled, as the droid knelt down and placed the key at the hole of the manacle. But then, it pulled the key away. "PSYCHE!" The droids all yelled in response, as Sunset gasped.
"Seriously?" She watched the droid pull away. "Did Chrysalis and Tirek actually program them to do that?" She watched the droid move towards the archway. "Stop! Drop that key! Freeze. Shut down sequence, zero eight three one." But nothing she did had any effect, as the droid finally reached the archway.
Sunset felt herself beginning to panic, as the droid's arm extended up towards the spot where the relic would go. And as it was inches away, she closed her eyes in defeat.
But before the droid could slot it in, a dinging sound filled the air. The droids all stopped and turned to the door leading to the elevator corridor, Sunset also looking around as the doors opened. And as soon as they did, two lights suddenly shot out of it. A green and yellow blur, which flew towards two of the droids and sliced them apart.
Sunset's eyes finally caught up with the light and to her amazement, Twilight and Celestia were there with their Lightsabers at the ready.
They cut the droids in half, as the other ones began to open fire.
The Jedi began to deflect the lasers with ease, allowing them to get in close and destroy more of them. The machines didn't stand a chance, with Sunset watching in amazement as they made short work of the droids. "Amazing."
Twilight turned her attention to the droid in front of the gateway, which suddenly pulled a blaster off its back and was firing single-handedly. But Twilight was able to block and dodge all the lasers, as she got in close and eventually managed to cut the blaster's end off. She then spun around and cleaved her blade through the droid's waist, the machine sparking as it fell to the ground with a loud clang.
She sighed before turning to Celestia, who cut down the last droid which was also carrying a key in its hand.
That key was soon in Celestia's grasp, the omni grabbing it before turning towards Sunset. The girl looked relieved to see her, then saw the look on Celestia's face as she slowly approached. A look she knew as one of utter disappointment.
Sunset looked down in shame, as she realised what Celestia must be feeling at that moment.
Twilight said nothing, as she stepped up behind Celestia whilst the Jedi Grandmaster stood in front of her daughter. She also remained quiet, simply holding the key in her hand whilst Sunset looked down. An awkward silence filled the air, as Celestia waited to hear what Sunset had to say. And eventually, she spoke.
"I'm sorry." She appeared to be tearing up. "I'm sorry for everything. You took me in and I betrayed you. I don't deserve your help and if you only came to stop that spirit from returning, I understand. You can leave me here and I know I'd deserve it. All I can do now is say that I'm sorry. And if you can find it in your heart to forgive me and help me get out of here, I swear I'll spend the rest of my life making sure you never regret that choice."
Silence filled the air again, as Celestia kept staring at her.
Twilight feared Celestia might end up doing just that, wondering what she would do if she did. But then, Celestia's frown turned to a smile and she knelt down next to Sunset. "I forgive you." She began to undo the shackles and Sunset gasped, as the metal came off and she held her aching wrists.
She looked up, tears still in her eyes as she stared at Celestia. "You do?"
"Of course." Celestia pulled her in for a hug. "What kind of woman wouldn't forgive her child?" Sunset's heart beat strongly at this, as she hugged Celestia back. "But even if I forgive you, I can't forget what you've done. So you will need to earn my trust and make up for everything you've done. Do you understand?"
"Yes," Sunset nodded. "I will. I promise."
"Good." She pulled away from Sunset and stood up. "Now that the easy part's out of the way, we still need to get out of this castle and off this planet."
"We need to find Shining and Flash," Twilight stated. "They could be anywhere in the castle." She opened her gauntlet, but it didn't connect. "How are we supposed to find them, when we have no way to track them?" Sunset frowned, wishing she had an answer.
As they were trying to find a way to get out of the castle, none of them noticed the droid currently still active.
It was the one Twilight had cut in half. Despite losing its lower part, it was still partially functional. And as it turned towards the gate, its programming kicked in and the machine raised its arm up.
Sunset happened to glance in its direction as it did so, the girl gasping as its arm extended up. "NO!" The others turned to see it and before any of them could try and stop it, the final relic key was pushed into place.
As soon as it did, the keys exploded with light and it began to move through the archway. The three stared in shock until Celestia shook her head. "We've got to stop it!" She reached out and tried to remove the keys, but they refused to budge. "They're stuck!" She pulled harder with the force, but the keys didn't move. And as more light flowed into the gate, they realised they couldn't get close enough to pull them out by hand.
"The gate is opening," Sunset gasped.
Back in the throne room, Shining and Sombra continued their duel whilst Flash recovered from the head wound.
The pair appeared evenly matched, neither side able to get past the other's defences. Eventually, they locked blades and tried to overpower one another with their heads inches apart. "Why throw away your life so recklessly," Sombra asked. "You fight for the Jedi, but what have the Jedi ever given you?"
"A family," Shining groaned. "A home. A reason for living. You talk about me throwing my life away. You're the one who threw your life away. Joining the Dark Side, just because you didn't like how the Order was run."
"You would have turned to, had you lived in the order I grew up in."
"I know about it," Shining stated. "I get the Order used to be a lot more restrictive. But you had no right to try and destroy it."
"I was trying to save those in the Order." He pushed Shining away and pointed his blade at him. "To show them they didn't have to sacrifice everything in order to be Jedi. I tried to convince the council to surrender the old ways, but they were too set in their old ways. I realised the only way to make a better Order, was to completely eradicate the one that had already existed. And I succeeded."
"No, you didn't." Shining ran forward and the pair fought against one another again, both once again appearing to be on an even footing. "Celestia was the one who reformed the Order. Not you."
"And how do you think she did that?" Sombra pushed his Lightsaber away and spun around, kicking him in the chest and knocking him back. "She was only able to rebuild the Order after I destroyed it. I'm the reason she is now the Grandmaster of the Jedi. If it wasn't for me, you would be forced to live in the stuck up order that was too obsessed with it's own self worth. It was too arrogant to realise what a threat I was."
Shining panted. "Fine. You got your wish. So why do all this now? I get you probably wouldn't be allowed back into the Order, but choosing to join the Dark Side..."
Sombra chuckled, as he pushed Shining away again. "I had nowhere else to go. I was alone and angry. I knew I could create a true and just galaxy. That was when he appeared to me."
"He?"
"The one who taught me what true power is. The power to make all those before you kneel in submission. He took me in, taught me everything and made me the warrior I am today."
"And let me guess," Shining frowned. "Once you'd learned everything there was to learn, you killed him off."
"Not yet. But eventually, I will. Once I have control of the dark spirit, he will see just how powerful I have become. And I will overthrow him, conquer this galaxy and create a universe where the strong survive."
"Not gonna happen!" Shining charged and struck with as much speed as he could manage, hoping to take Sombra by surprise. But the Sith Lord was able to block and dodge every attack before dealing a punch to Shining's face, knocking him back and causing him to trip. "Augh!" His Lightsaber flew from his hand.
Sombra rushed in to take advantage of this opening, but found another Lightsaber blocking his.
He glanced up and saw Flash, finally recovered from his head injury. The teen glared at the Sith. "Foolish boy. I would have thought you'd learn your lesson by now."
"I am a slow learner," Flash replied before pushing Sombra away.
Shining rolled to his feet and rushed over to grab his Lightsaber, igniting it as Flash and Sombra duelled. Sombra seemed to be having a bit more difficulty against Flash's blade, the broadsaber not something one would have much experience against.
As he slashed at Flash, the teen countered with the flat side of the blade and Sombra found his sliding down it towards the edge. Flash then gave the blade a flick and Sombra was pushed off, knocked slightly off balance by it.
Flash went in for the strike and when Sombra tried to defend, he found his blade being knocked out of his grasp and knocked away. But as Flash spun around to cut at him, Sombra reached out and grabbed his Lightsaber by the handle.
Sombra's next move was to grab Flash by the neck before sweeping his feet out from under him, knocking the teen onto the ground before Sombra used his superior strength to pull his Lightsaber up and push the blade towards his face. Flash groaned, trying his best to keep from being cut by his own sword.
He tried to switch the blade off, but Sombra was blocking his attempt to hit the button.
But when the blade was inches away from Flash's face, Shining ran in and tried to behead Sombra. The Sith Lord leapt back, releasing Flash and his blade before he could complete the action. Shining went on the attack, but Sombra leapt back to where his Lightsaber had fallen.
When Shining tried to strike him down, Sombra just managed to dodge it before rolling along the ground and grabbing his weapon.
He spun back and reignited it, blocking Shining's attack at the last moment.
Outside the castle, the hostage situation continued.
Chrysalis was still battling against Cadance and Thorax, having called upon the rest of her Destroyers in order to stop the one that had been commandeered by the Jedi. Unfortunately, her wings had reached their limit and she was forced to fly down towards the ground.
Thorax was also forced to land, Cadance being the only one still flight capable.
"It's over," she told the Sith. "Just surrender already."
"Never," Chrysalis growled. "So what if you have a Destroyer? Even if you manage to get the slaves on board, that ship will never leave the planet." Cadance and Thorax knew she might be right. More Destroyers were on their way and if they reached the ship before the prisoners were all on board, it would be a sitting duck.
"Don't underestimate our friends," Thorax stated. "They can work miracles when they need to."
"Miracles aren't something that just happen," Chrysalis replied. "If they did, a miracle would have saved our race from the plague." She charged at him, but Cadance landed between them and blocked her attack. "That's why I had to make a miracle happen. And if I had to sell my soul to do it, so be it."
"We won't let you anywhere near Thorax," Cadance grunted.
"He is the key," Chrysalis announced. "With his DNA, the changelings we create will be much stronger than the ones we've made so far. I will take him back with me." She pushed Cadance back and the omni almost fell over, as Chrysalis prepared to attack. But Thorax blocked her this time and they continued their fight.
As they thought, they drew closer and closer to the Destroyer. There, Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie continued to help the prisoners be lifted up by the ship's tractor beam.
Luna, Skybreaker, Ruby, First and Tidal had arrived after their fight with Tirek, the lot of them watching as more and more people flew up into the ship. "We're running out of time."
"We're going as fast as we can," Rarity told them. "We can't send too many people up at once, or they'll get stuck to the ceiling."
Luna frowned and flew up onto the top of the Destroyer, taking out a pair of glasses that she put on to look around. And as they zoomed in, she saw a bunch of shapes in the distance. Though they were very very far away, they would be there in just a few more minutes.
She opened up her gauntlet and connected to the ones on the bridge. "How much longer until we're ready to leave?"
"Not long," Iron replied. "Once the last prisoner's on board, we can leave."
Luna frowned, but flew back down and saw the Padawans being forced into the tractor beam. Their teachers watched them fly up into the ship, as they began helping the prisoners themselves.
First wasn't looking too great, clearly not recovered yet from almost having his life force drained out of him. "First, get up into the ship." She looked shocked. "You're in no condition to help right now. Besides. If someone's injured in this fight, you'll need to be up there to help them."
First frowned, but nodded and stepped into the light.
More and more of the prisoners followed, Luna seeing the amount slowly growing smaller and smaller. She prayed they would make it in time. "If we don't. We're doomed."
Cadance grunted, as she was kicked back by Chrysalis.
Thorax flew in and attacked as well, but Chrysalis was able to block his strikes before kicking him away as well. The two Jedi hit the ground and Chrysalis moved towards them, Lightsaber at the ready to pierce them through if they tried to defend.
Cadance frowned before thrusting her hands forward, knocking her backwards with The Force.
Chrysalis grunted and was sent flying, but managed to spread her wings and stop herself before flying back down. But this allowed the pair to pick themselves up and prepare for another tussle, Chrysalis doing the same. But with how exhausted she was, she could feel herself becoming vulnerable to any lucky strike they might throw her way.
Then, she noticed the Destroyers approaching.
She pointed her weapon at Thorax. "Last chance. Come with me or you will be destroyed. If not by me, then by the Destroyers that will blow that ship to pieces."
Thorax frowned, as he looked back at the Destroyer that was their only way off the planet. He turned back to Chrysalis, who gave him a knowing look. He then smiled and stood strong. "I'll take my chances with them. The people who raised me and taught me what it means to be a good person."
Chrysalis frowned, "you'll come to regret this." With that, she spread her wings and flew off.
Thorax moved to follow, but Cadance grabbed his shoulder. "No. Let her go. We have more important things to worry about. Come on." Thorax nodded and they headed back to the ship. All the while, the Destroyers got closer and things didn't look good for them.
Celestia, Twilight and Sunset stared into the portal, which was swirling into fully forming.
They kept trying to pull the relic keys out, but they were jammed in tight. "What do we do?" Twilight asked, as Celestia glanced back at them. Her student and daughter gave her a worried expression, as she looked back at the gate.
"We can't risk that spirit getting through. Whilst it's possible without a body, it would simply die in seconds, we can't take that risk." She began to move forward, "we have to close the gate." They nodded and tried to move forward, but Celestia stopped them. "Stay back. It's too dangerous."
"You can't do it alone," Sunset told her.
"I have to try." She began to step forward, as the portal began to unleash a powerful gale of power. Celestia flinched, but kept her balance and pushed her way through to the gate.
However, as she got closer, she saw something appear within the portal. Some kind of purple energy, which was spiralling out of the portal and heading towards her.
"What?" She sensed something ancient and evil, as the light flew out of the archway. She raised her Lightsaber and prepared to defend herself, as the light flew straight at her. And as it got close, she swung the blade downwards and met the light head on.
Twilight and Sunset were shocked by what had just happened, Twilight turning to Sunset. "Do you think that could be..."
"Yeah," Sunset nodded, "that's got to be the evil spirit." They could only watch, as Celestia pushed against the evil spirit. The two struggled against one another, as a pair of sinister red lights appeared within the dark glow. These eyes stared at Celestia before two tendrils of light flew out and attacked from either side.
Celestia saw this and before the girls could yell for her to look out, she let herself be pushed back by the light so the tendrils missed.
Before she could be overwhelmed, she spread her wings and flew to the side. The light flew in the opposite direction and suddenly began to spin, morphing into a tornado of dark energy. Twilight and Sunset ran over to her Celestia, as they looked up at the tornado that had the red lights glowing within it.
The tornado then began to reshape itself, morphing into some kind of wyvern shape with the eyes now in the head.
It let out a roar, as energy exploded out of the mouth and shot towards them. "MOVE!" Celestia pushed the girls away with The Force and tried to dodge, but the light managed to clip her wing and make her cry out before the wyvern flew forward.
It swung its tail around and struck Celestia before she could recover, sending her flying back until she crashed into the wall of the cavern and hit her head. She gasped before going limp and falling to the ground, unconscious and vulnerable.
"CELESTIA!" Twilight screamed, as the wyvern roared again before charging at her.
The girls quickly realised that the spirit was intending to try and take over Celestia's body. And with her unconscious, she might not be able to fight it off. "NO!" They both yelled, Twilight running forward and managing to get between Celestia and the spirit.
She swung her Lightsaber at its head and the spirit collided with it, Twilight grunting at the impact but managing to stay on her feet. The spirit kept pushing, but Twilight held her ground. However, the tail suddenly swung around and looked ready to knock her away.
But before it could, Celestia's Lightsaber ignited and blocked it.
Twilight glanced around and saw Sunset, wielding Celestia's weapon, the two standing side by side as they held off the spirit. "Together!" Sunset cried, as the two used all their strength to push the spirit backwards. "RAAAAH!" The light exploded out of its wyvern shape and flew back, reforming the tornado as both girls stood their ground.
Tendrils began to grow out of the tornado and tried to swat the girls away, but the pair protected one another and blocked each and every strike. But whilst the light couldn't get past the Lightsabers, the energy blades didn't do any damage to it. The girls knew they were at a disadvantage, having no way of injuring this creature whilst it just needed to hit them once to take them out.
Sombra and Shining both pushed against one another trying to overpower the other.
Sombra had one hand on his weapon and the other, he was using to push against a pillar to keep himself from falling. And eventually, he managed to push off it and lift Shining's Lightsaber above his head before throwing a punch into his stomach.
"Augh!" Shining was winded and staggered back, as Flash rushed in to protect him from being attacked.
As he got in close, he slashed at Sombra. But the Sith Lord smiled before his body suddenly exploded into a cloud of shadow. "What?" He was suddenly surrounded by the cloud and the next thing he knew, he was struck with enough force to be sent hurting across the room. "GYAH!"
Shining watched this and was just as shocked, as the cloud flew through the air and landed in front of his throne.
As Sombra reformed, Shining looked down and saw the orb on his belt was gone. "Looking for something?" He glanced back to Sombra and saw he was holding the orb, having clearly stolen it when he punched Shining in the gut. "This makes things a lot more fair...for me." Shining glared at him, as Flash picked himself up.
Sombra once again exploded into a shadow cloud and filled the room, slamming into Shining and knocking him backwards.
The cloud attacked Flash and he tried to fight back, with little success as his Lightsaber simply flew through the smoke. "It's useless!" Flash suddenly felt something coil around his leg and lift him into the air, making him cry out as he was lifted up. The cloud then flicked around and sent the Jedi flying.
"GYAH!" He crashed into the side of the wall and fell to the ground, moaning as the top half of Sombra's body reformed.
The Sith raised his Lightsaber and charged, flying towards Flash with the cloud sailing forward. He pointed the weapon at Flash's chest, ready to stab him through. But before he could strike, Flash suddenly slid along the ground and Sombra's attack missed.
Shining was kneeling on the ground, pulling Flash towards him as his student recovered. "You okay?"
"Ah," Flash groaned, "this was a lot easier when we had that gemstone." He pushed himself up, as Sombra completely reformed.
Red lightning sparked around his body and he fired a bolt towards them, the pair barely managing to leap away at the last moment. As they did, they summoned their Lightsabers back to them to deflect the next bolts that came their way.
Sombra exploded into a shadow that was charged with energy, which shot towards them and spiralled into a drill of smoke and lightning. That drill shot past them and knocked the pair flying, as the electricity flew into their bodies.
Both of them screamed, as they crashed into the walls before hitting the ground. Both sparked with the red energy, their bodies feeling like they were on fire.
The cloud laughed, as it flew back towards the throne and landed in front of it. Sombra slowly reformed and smiled at the pair, as they both laid there. The two didn't look like they were in the best of conditions, both simply laying there with a mild twitch being the only movement coming from them.
"Looks like I didn't have anything to worry about," he sat down. "You two might have concerned me when I saw that vision, but you couldn't stand up to my power. Nothing can stand up to my power. Eventually, I will be the most powerful being in the galaxy. Nothing will stop me."
Back at the Destroyer, the Jedi were almost finished boarding the last of the slaves.
Iron had finished all the pre-flight sequences. As soon as they were finished boarding, they would head up into space. But they were sure that the other Destroyers would be there before they had finished boarding.
Even as Cadance and Thorax arrived and helped fly people up, they still had another minute or so before the prisoners were all on board. "We need to find a way to slow some of those ships down," Heather stated. "Iron. Does this thing have any weapons we can use to blow those ships up?"
"I think so." Iron checked and nodded. "Yes. But they haven't been tested yet. They might either fire properly or blow up and take half the ship with it."
"Can we risk that?" Spitfire asked, the others unsure how to answer that. They had to find a way to slow the ships down, but how?
They didn't have time to think of another plan, as in that moment a laser suddenly shot at them and hit the ship. Luckily, the shields were up so the laser didn't cause any damage. But it did cause the ship to shake. "Shields down to ninety-three percent."
"We're in firing range of the first ship," Heather stated. "And the other ships will be in range soon as well. Our shields won't last long with so many hits flying at us at once."
"Ahhh!" Spitfire cried, opening her gauntlet. "How much longer?"
"Almost done," Luna explained. "We just need another minute or so."
"We don't have a minute," Heather yelled as another laser bounced off the ship.
"Eight-six percent!" Iron yelled, as Spitfire groaned.
"We have to try. Iron, fire the lasers. Set them to low power. If they do explode, that should keep them from causing too much damage to us." Iron nodded and set the laser's power to twenty-five percent before taking aim. And as the other ship fired, he launched their lasers and they flew out without issue.
They sighed in relief, as the laser hit the ones fired at them and destroyed the energy attack.
The opposing Destroyer fired again, Iron firing his own back and managing to get the lasers to collide. But as they did, another Destroyer came into range and started firing as well. Iron couldn't counter both lasers and soon, the shields were struck again.
On the lead Destroyer, Chrysalis stepped onto the bridge.
"Destroy that ship. Open fire with everything we have. I want it blown to smithereens!" The changelings controlling the ship increasing the power before firing. The shots began to bounce off the shields, whilst the ship fired back at them. But it couldn't attack all the ships and soon, more and more were getting into range.
Chrysalis watched and prayed her son wasn't on board. If she could destroy the ship before he got on, she could capture him and return him to where he truly belonged.
"You will join our ranks. One way or another."
The ship shook again, each hit weakening the shields more and more.
Iron was doing whatever he could to reinforce the shields, redirecting power from the unneeded sectors of the ship. "Why is there a power system solely for icy machines? How many of those are there on this ship?" A laser struck and this time, part of the ship exploded and an alarm went off.
"What happened?" Heather cried, "the shields are still up?"
"They must have figured out the frequency and matched their lasers to it." Iron quickly changed the shield's frequency, right before the ship was struck again. "They're gonna keep matching it. We can't stay here much longer." But in that moment, Luna's voice echoed through the gauntlet.
"Everyone's on board. Get us out of here." Iron smiled and quickly powered up the thrusters, which lifted the ship upwards towards the edge of the atmosphere.
The other ships followed suit and soon, they were all heading up into space.
"Hurry," Heather told Iron. "Our shields aren't gonna last much longer." The ship kept getting hit from behind, their shields growing weaker and weaker.
As they reached the edge of the atmosphere, Luna and all the other Jedi arrived. They looked down at the planet and saw the ships following, but also worried about their friends down below. They had left them behind and if they couldn't find a way off the planet, there was no telling what might happen.
But they didn't have time to worry about that, as the shields were soon at critical power.
And as they entered the vast expanse of space, they found themselves staring down several more ships heading their way. These were obviously the ships that had stayed in space, likely to stop this exact thing from happening.
"Can we get past them?" Cadance asked, as the two groups of ships approached them.
"Maybe," Luna frowned, "but I doubt we can without getting heavily damaged. And if the shields grow too weak, we won't be able to enter Hyperspace without getting ripped to pieces."
Everyone began to worry. They would either get blown to pieces, made dead in the water, or ripped apart when they tried to escape. Either way, things weren't looking good for them.
But just when things looked bleak, they suddenly heard an alarm going off on the console. "Now what," Rainbow gulped. But suddenly, something came out of hyperspace. Something big.
It was another ship. And whilst its shape made them think it was another Sith Destroyer, they quickly realised its design was slightly different. "A Republic Battleship," Cadance gasped as it appeared. And it wasn't the only one.
Two more Battleships came out of hyperspace and before the Destroyers could react, the three ships began blasting at them. Within moments, the ships were either destroyed or taken out of action. And as the Jedi Destroy drew closer, they realised it was likely about to attack them.
"Send out the Jedi clearance code," Luna stated. "Tell them this ship is under our control!" Iron quickly did that and not a second too soon, as the Battleship had powered up its weapons for another attack. But at the last moment, they moved before the lasers fired.
Doing so caused it to barely miss the Jedi's Destroyer and fly off to hit nothing, as the Jedi Destroyer flew through the wreckage of the destroyed ships. As it did, the Jedi found themselves being hailed.
"On screen." Moments later, the screen showed an image of another member of the Jedi Council. "Am I glad to see you," Luna smiled.
"Yes," he nodded. "It's a good thing you kept sending us coordinates whilst going on this suicide mission. Otherwise never would have found you in time." Another screen appeared and on it, Stax was smiling at them.
"Hey," he smirked. "Looks like we made it to the party just in time." He looked around, "where's Flash and Shining?"
"And Celestia and Twilight?" Luna frowned, also worried about those four.
Back in the chasm, Twilight and Sunset continued to fight against the evil Sith spirit.
The swirling mass of light kept changing shape, attempting to overpower the two girls as they worked to protect Celestia. But even though they could deflect its attacks, they couldn't seem to do any damage to it. "What do we do?" Sunset asked, as a tendril flew down at them and she barely managed to block it in time.
Twilight was wondering the same thing, worried they would eventually slip up or get tired and it would capitalise on that.
She then looked back at the portal, which was still open though no longer unleashing a wind-like force. The spirit had come out through that portal. The only way to stop it was to somehow knock it back in and close it forever.
"We have to get it back in the portal!" Twilight yelled, Sunset looking shocked but realising she was right. And as a tendril tried to stab Twilight, the Padawan swinging her blade around to deflect it, Sunset had an idea and prayed it would work.
She ran at the tornado of light and as Twilight called out to her, the energy's red eyes focused on her and attacked with another tendril. But Sunset jumped to the side and narrowly managed to avoid it, rolling along the ground until she stood with it between her and the archway.
Using all her strength, Sunset thrust her hands forward and tried to Force shove the spirit backwards. And to their shock and delight, the spirit actually fell backwards towards the gate.
"It worked!" Sunset laughed, only for the spirit to attack again. "WOW!" She leapt out of the way, as it threw a tendril of energy at her. She managed to avoid it, as Twilight ran over and tried to Force push it again. But this time, the spirit appeared to be ready and slammed its tendrils into the ground.
Sunset saw this and ran toward a tendril, slamming it with her Lightsaber.
But the blade just bounced off the energy and did nothing to stop it. Instead, another tendril suddenly shot out and wrapped around Sunset before she could stop it. And next thing she knew, she was being lifted up into the air and letting out a cry as the energy stung her.
"Sunset!" Twilight screamed, once again trying to Force Shove the being backwards. But this did little to stop it, as it once again held onto the ground and kept itself where it was.
Sunset struggled against the hold, only to then be suddenly thrown behind the spirit towards the archway. She screamed until her legs slammed into the top of the arch, causing her to spin out of control until she crashed into the ground behind the gate.
She moaned, as Celestia's Lightsaber rolled out of reach.
Twilight gasped and as she tried to see if Sunset was still awake, the spirit exploded into several streams of light. These streams flew around the room before all shooting towards the same spot. Celestia.
"NO!" Twilight screamed, running to her mentor and shielding her just in time. The many streams headed towards her and Twilight summoned all of her power with the Force, thrusting her hands out and forming a wall of the universal energy between her and the energy.
The power slammed into the wall and made Twilight gasp, but she held firm and kept her footing.
The Sith spirit tried to power through it, but Twilight wasn't letting up. Even so, the spirit's strength slowly began to create small holes in the shield. Holes that it could send little bits of itself through.
Twilight saw the dark energy flow past her wall and slowly move towards her, reaching her arms and beginning to coil around them. As they did, she flinched feeling like she was being stabbed by many small needles. And as the energy reached her shoulders and began to spread around the rest of her body, she felt herself growing overwhelmed by the dark aura flowing through this being.
It was just too much.
Back in the throne room, Sombra kept watching as the pair lay on the ground.
He knew he should end them there and then, but he was enjoying their pitiful states. However, Flash soon started moving and let out a moan. "Stay down," he told the boy. "Going on at this point would just cause more pain. Give up and I'll make your end quick."
"No...thank you." He pushed himself up, grabbing his Lightsaber as he got onto one foot. "You might have forgotten what it means to be a Jedi, but I haven't." He forced himself to his feet and whilst he seemed shaky, he was able to keep himself from falling over. "To fight evil with everything you have. Even if you're moments away from collapsing, you keep pushing forward."
"How noble," Sombra chuckled. "But futile." He stood up and as Flash began to move forward, the Sith's body sparked before unleashing a stream of energy.
Flash saw it coming and barely managed to activate his Lightsaber in time, the red lightning smashing into it and exploding.
He grunted, as he was pushed backwards, but managed to keep himself from being blown over. The lightning bounced off the blade, but the occasional bolt flew past him and he flinched as the shock. "You can't defeat me," Sombra stated. "My power is far beyond what you could possibly hope to aim for."
"Maybe," Flash groaned, "but I'll still keep fighting." As he said that, Shining started to come around and saw the situation his student was in.
"Flash." He tried to move, but his body was still feeling numb. And as Flash stood in place, Sombra increased the intensity of the energy he was shooting at him. "Hold on." As he said that, Flash suddenly took a step forward. "No way."
"Impossible," Sombra gasped as Flash took another step. He increased the power of his lightning again, stray bolts flying off the side of it and slamming into the ground, walls and ceiling. "FALL!"
"NEVER!" Flash yelled, taking another step towards him. "I won't quit. I don't care how impossible it is to beat you, I'll keep pushing. And eventually, I'll find a way to stop you."
Sombra growled, "anyone ever tell you what an annoying little pest you are?"
"All the time!" Flash took another step, then another and another. With each step, the power being thrown at him grew stronger. He could feel it flowing into him, stray bolts cutting into his clothes and flesh. He screamed, but kept going.
Sombra could only watch in shock, the sight of Flash approaching being too impossible for him to comprehend. 'He should be burning to a crisp. How is he doing this?'
Flash screamed, but kept pressing forward. He was so focused on getting to Sombra, he ignored the blinding pain flowing through his body. He was so focused on moving forward, he didn't notice something happening to him. His body was also sparking, but not the red lightning that was being blasted at him.
This lightning was a light blue, almost white colour. The light was being blocked by the dark glow of the red lightning, but it was still coming off Flash's body and appeared to be cancelling Sombra's attacks.
Shining watched this and was amazed by Flash's ability to withstand such brutal punishment. "You've sure come a long way." Shining began to force his own body to move, in order to get up and pull himself towards his Lightsaber.
Flash was really starting to feel the pain, but he still refused to give up. And this seemed to terrify Sombra.
"STAY AWAY!" He roared, upping the power of the lightning as he stepped forward. But Flash refused to let himself be stopped and unleashed a mighty roar.
"RAAAAAAAAAAH!" He ran forward and with a swing of his blade, he sent the lightning flying towards one of the walls.
The red energy slammed into it and ripped through the stone, carving a deep cut into the wall and destroying several pillars. But nobody cared about that, all of them too focused on Flash as he charged forward with his hand out.
"NO!" Sombra burst into smoke and Flash flew through it, slamming into the ground behind the cloud as it flew up. "DIE!" He curved around and Sombra's Lightsaber pointed out the tip of the now drill shape, looking ready to run Flash through completely.
But before it could get to him, Flash spun around and held something up. The orb.
Before Sombra could stop him, Flash opened the orb and the gemstone's energy flooded the room again. As soon as it did, the shadows around Sombra disappeared.
The Sith was now falling towards Flash and couldn't stop, Flash swinging his blade around to try and cut him in half. But Sombra managed to manoeuvre himself and use his own to block it, the two blades clashing with Sombra landing whilst Flash was stuck on his butt.
The Sith growled as he tried to overwhelm Flash, his red blade drawing close to Flash's face. The teen tried to push Sombra away, but he was too weak from the damage he had taken before.
"It's over," Sombra stated as he prepared to finish him.
"FOR YOU!" Suddenly, a piercing pain shot through Sombra. He gasped and looked down, seeing the tip of a blue Lightsaber sticking out of him just above the stomach. Then, he looked back and saw Shining standing behind him.
This sudden impalement gave Flash the opening he needed, the Padawan using the last of his strength to push Sombra's Lightsaber away before thrusting his blade forward. And his aim struck true, hitting Sombra right in the chest where his black heart should be.
"RAAAAAH!" Flash yelled, as his attack struck true. He didn't know what would happen next, but he was sure this would be the attack that would decide this fight.
Author's Note
