Kamen Rider Shifter
Episode 28: The Return of an Enemy! Kamen Rider Gule
Previous ChapterNext ChapterNobody could understand what the heck they were seeing.
One minute, the Riders had been defeating Sheave and High and were about to destroy them all. But then, a new Rider had appeared. One that none of them had ever expected to see. Gule-Far-Tar. Timber Spruce.
Sheave pushed himself up and stared at his supposedly revived brother, hardly believing what he was seeing. "Gule? Is that really you?"
Gule smiled at him, "it is. It's good to finally see you, brother." He moved over to Sheave and the pair hugged one another, Sheave appearing to be close to tears. "We're finally working on the same side."
The others were still shocked, though Fleur and Thorax were having trouble understanding any of this.
"How is this possible?" Shining asked. "You were destroyed! Flash destroyed you!" As Gule pulled away from his brother, he turned to them and chuckled.
"Yes, he did destroy me. But a small part of me survived. Within my host." This shocked everyone, Twilight more than most. "It seems my generation of Mimics have evolved a new style of survival. Don't know if the rest of us can do it, but I managed it. During his time as my host, Timber absorbed some of my Mimic DNA. It remained within him, completely undetected."
"So you're not just another Mimic," Twilight realised. She checked her scanner and realised it wasn't going off. "What are you?"
Gule chuckled. "When my original body was destroyed, the mental link between me and Timber should have snapped. But instead, my mind was pulled into Timber's when his returned to his body. I remained inside of him, asleep and unaware. Maybe all Mimics suffer this fate when destroyed. But I was able to awaken thanks to a particular catalyst."
Everyone wondered what that catalyst was, only for Sheave to suddenly find himself reliving one of Flash's memories.
It was back when Flash had been captured by the Mimics and watched as Timber had another Mimic exposed to him. Had it not been for Morphic, Timber would have been taken over again. But he had been saved, or so Flash had thought.
Timber chuckled, as he looked himself over. "Slowly, my consciousness began to awaken and override Timber's own thoughts. And eventually, it was able to obtain complete control over the body. And at the same time, the remains of my cells began to activate and spread throughout Timber's body. Now we have evolved into something new. Not a human. Not a Mimic. Something all new and incredible."
"A hybrid," Shining relied. "Part human, part Mimic." They could hardly believe what they were hearing. If a human and a Mimic really could merge like that, what could this mean for them?
"Now then," the new Rider stepped forward. "I believe you have something belonging to my brother." He focused his attention on Fleur, who still had the Blade Mimicore in hand. "Now give to me." He took out his own Mimicore and prepared to transform, but a light suddenly appeared behind the Riders.
Everyone saw a portal form behind them, another quickly opening behind the girls. "Let's go!" Shining cried, grabbing Fleur and Thorax before pulling them both through. The Rainbooms followed suit, with Twilight and Rainbow holding back.
Rainbow ran around the portal and headed towards the park exit, whilst Twilight glanced back towards Gule.
As she locked onto Timber's eyes, they glared back at her in a way Timber never looked at her. She couldn't believe what was happening. She thought she had saved Timber, but now he was in a worse state than ever. And as he began to move towards her, she leapt through the portal before they both vanished.
The three Mimics stood there, Gule frowning whilst Sheave took out his last two Mimicores.
"Great," High sighed. "Now what?"
"Now," Gule stated, "we head back. It's been a while since I saw Maya and Frill. I'd like to see them again and catch up." He began to walk forward, as a portal formed in front of him. Shifter followed after him and High frowned, but did the same and the trio stepped into the portal.
In the blink of an eye, they were back in the Mimic Lair and Grey, Frill and Maya were waiting for them.
The Mimic generals stared at Gule in shock, as he simply smiled. "I can't believe it," Maya stated. "You're actually alive." She looked him over. "A human Mimic hybrid. I've never heard of such a thing."
Gule shrugged. "I guess I'm the first of my kind." The two smiled at him, whilst High rolled her eyes.
"Okay. Yeah. So he's back. Big whoop." They all turned to her. "Can I remind you that he failed his mission before. He was defeated and destroyed. So why are we so happy he's back. Chances are, he's just gonna fail again."
"Maybe," Gule told her. "But haven't you failed quite a few times as well? After all, I did just save you and Sheave from getting blown into nothing." The pair frowned, realising he was right. "Plus, I'm a Kamen Rider now. Which makes me much stronger than you." He moved closer to High, the pair locking eyes and glaring at one another. "With me here, we don't really have need of you."
"You wanna say that again?" High took her monster form again and prepared to attack, with Gule about to transform. But before they could...
"Enough!" Everyone stood to attention and turned towards Sombra, the six bowing as he approached. "The last thing we need right now, is all of you arguing with one another." They nodded, as Sombra motioned for them to stand. "Gule. How did the Driver hold out?"
"So far, it's been perfect. I felt more powerful than I ever felt in my old form."
"Good," Sombra nodded. "Now that we're sure it'll work, we can move onto the next stage." The Mimics shared a look, wondering what that next stage was. "Once again, I'm going to need you all to gather some energy for me. Even more than what you gathered before."
"What happened to the energy we gathered already?" High asked, with Sombra giving her a look as if to say 'are you questioning me.' "Just curious."
"The energy was for me," Gule stated smugly. "To power up my Driver and the Mimicore Sombra made for me." Sombra nodded, as High frowned. She had busted her gut to get that power and it was all for him. "And now that I'm here, getting more energy should be easy."
"How'd you figure?" Greye asked, as Gule chuckled.
"Against me and Sheave, those Riders won't stand a chance. So let us deal with them whilst you go out and grab the energy. And if any of those fools do show up, you should be able to handle them. Am I right?" The Mimics all nodded, thinking the same thing.
With that, Gule followed Sombra as he showed him around the rest of the new lair.
Meanwhile, Sheave sat down and let his body recuperate after the thrashing he had just received. He let out a sigh, as he found himself in his mind once again. And as he turned towards the captured Flash, he saw his host glaring at him. "Well, I guess we're even. You tried to kill my brother and failed. I tried to kill your sister and failed."
"Just stay away from Scootaloo," Flash told him. "Or else..."
"Or else what? My brother wiped the floor with your friends. They're not gonna be any trouble at all." Flash glared at him, as Sheave tried to relax. But as he did, he was suddenly bombarded with a bunch of memories.
But these ones weren't Flash's. They were his, of the day he had spent with Scootaloo. The fun they had had and the guilt he had felt when he thought about her getting hurt. The memory of her being terrified washed over him and with a grunt, he managed to fight off the sickening sensation he was feeling.
"Stop it!" He flinched, as he left his mind and was back in the real world.
The other Mimics looked at him, clearly confused by what he was doing. "What's wrong with you?" High asked, with Sheave saying nothing.
The Mimic reached into his jacket and took out the Maleficore. As soon as his hand touched it, he felt all the memories he had been plagued with disappear. And the pain he was feeling vanished too. After a few moments of this, he felt much better and smiled. Who cared about Scootaloo and the rest of those humans. He was a Mimic. That was what mattered.
Inside the lab, Corvyn was staring at a scan of Gule that he had managed to get before the three Riders and Rainbooms had to escape.
Rainbow, Fluttershy and Sunset had also returned, having made sure Scootaloo was okay after what had happened. But the young girl had wanted to know what had happened to her brother, the three managing to convince her he was fine before Rainbow raced her back to the town.
Corvyn hummed, the sight before him like nothing he had ever seen. "A human with Mimic DNA within him. I've never seen anything like this."
"Never?" Shining asked, he, Fleur and Thorax having almost recovered after the beating they had received from Gule. "How is something like this even possible? If you've never seen it before, how can it be possible?"
"I don't claim to be an expert when it comes to Mimics," Corvyn stated. "I just use what I learned during our battle against them. And this never happened when they attacked my world. But to be fair, barely any Mimics were destroyed during that war. And when they were, the hosts were in the Mimic's possession. If anything like this has happened before, the Mimics never let us learn about it."
"I'm pretty sure this has never happened before," Rarity told him. "Tim...Gule, said he was something new. Something never before seen. That likely means he is the first hybrid."
"I see," Corvyn nodded. "My best guess is it's some kind of mutation. Something that appeared completely at random, but my repeat if Gule creates his own spawn and they inherit that power."
"How exactly do Mimics create spawns?" Thorax wondered, everyone turning to Fleur as the girl frowned.
"We don't know. Katar doesn't know anything about Mimic culture, remember." They sighed, as Twilight stared at the image of her ex-boyfriend.
"Corvyn. Do you think it's possible to free Timber from whatever's happening to him? Is it like what happened before, when Gule had his mind trapped?"
Corvyn sighed. "I don't know. Like I said, I've never encountered this before. It's possible Gule trapped Timber's mind like before. But it's also possible that Timber's mind has been completely overwhelmed and erased by Gule's consciousness. Like saving a new game over an old file. Everything that was once there is lost."
"Damn it!" Rainbow cried, punching a wall of the lab. "Every time we think we've got one over the Mimics, they pull something like this on us. When are we gonna get a win that stays a win?"
"We did get a win," Shining stated. "It's clear that Sheave was planning to do something to Scootaloo and we managed to stop it. Gule might have knocked us down, but we managed to take another of Flash's Mimicores." He looked over at where the Blade core was located, alongside the Pierce core and Flash's Shift Striker. Now Sheave wouldn't be able to use any of them against them.
"Gule kind of makes up for Sheave not being at full power," Thorax stated. "You saw how strong her was." The others nodded, thinking the same thing. Gule was powerful. More powerful than they liked to admit. But he couldn't be unstoppable. If there was a way to stop him, they would find it.
On a Canterlot street, the people were going about their business until a portal opened up.
As soon as they saw it, they began to run and it was a good thing. For moments later, multiple Mimicreeps leapt out and started attacking. They roared and ran after anyone they saw, causing the street to quickly began deserted.
Moments later, Sheave and Gule stepped out of the portal. The two looked around and saw nobody in sight, making them both nod before taking out their Mimicores and summoning their Drivers.
"MALEFIC FLIGHT!"
"DARK STRIKE!"
The two placed their cores into the Drivers before striking a pose, both appearing almost identical as they did so. "HENSHIN!" With that, they both slammed the Drivers closed and let the dark power flow through them.
"MIMIC! OWL!"
"MIMIC!LIGHTNINGBUG!" They crossed their arms and allowed the slime to fly out of the pipes, Gule's hybrid status not changing how the transformation worked. And soon, the slime rained down and formed cocoons around them before shattering to reveal the Kamen Riders.
Slowly, the armor formed around them and as it settled, the Drivers began to speak out for anyone to hear. "Darkness, engulfs all that stands within it. Unlimited power awakens in the shadows!"
"Darklight,engulfingtheworldaroundit.Letallwhoseeit,trembleinfear!
Transformations complete, the two chuckled at one another before Shifter summoned his wings and took to the sky. Gule moved forward, the red energy sparking around him as he searched for someone to terrorise and draw the others out.
An alarm went off in the lab and everyone jumped into action, rushing towards the computer as it showed images of the two Riders appearing.
"They didn't waste any time," Shining sighed. "What are they up to?" As far as they could tell, all they were doing was attacking. Something he doubted was just for fun. "Alright. Fleur and I will head out and deal with them. Thorax, you stay here and be ready to deploy if the other Mimics show up. This is a distraction, but we can't leave them to do whatever they want."
Thorax nodded, as Twilight frowned. "Shining. Are you sure this is a good idea? You guys didn't stand a chance against Gule when it was three on one. Now it'll be two on two. Do you really think you can hold him off?"
"It might not be easy," Shining nodded. "But he took me by surprise last time. This time, I'm not gonna take him lightly. Besides, we don't have a choice." He turned to Fleur and took out his Mimicore. "You ready?"
She did the same, "let's do this?" They both activated their Mimicores, as their Drivers appeared.
"TRI-HORN!/FLUTTER!"
The pair placed them inside their Drivers and struck a pose. "HENSHIN!" With that, they slammed the drivers closed and the transformations began.
"MIMIC!TRICERATOPS!/BUTTERFLY!" Within moments, the two Riders were sealed within the cocoons and they shattered seconds later.
As the armor formed upon the two, both their Drivers spoke up at the same time. "The charging force of three horns, triple the destructive power."
"A graceful wing beat, creates a hurricane of power!"
"Good luck," Cadance told them as they nodded before heading out of the lab into the open space outside. There, they summoned their bikes and as a portal formed, they climbed on and revved the engine before flying forwards.
Shifter and Gule watched, as the Mimicreeps cornered a group of people that hadn't been able to escape in time.
They watched them approach, only for a portal to suddenly open behind them. And when they looked around, they saw two blurs shoot out and fly past them. They then barreled through the Mimicreeps and knocked them flying away from the people they were attacking, Morphic and Hudie skidding to a stop on their bikes once the people were safe.
"Back for more punishment?" Gule laughed, the two Riders revving up as they prepared to attack. "Good. I was looking forward to this." He gestured to the remaining Mimicreeps and they all charged, with the Riders racing forward on their bikes.
As they did, Morphic started punching any that got close, whilst Hudie kicked more away before summoning her Grace Grazer and flicking it around.
The Mimicreeps didn't stand a chance against them, the large group quickly getting blasted into sludge by the pair as the Riders leapt off their bikes and shrank them back down. And when the last Mimicreep was dealt with, the four turned to one another and got ready for a fight.
Back at the lab, the others watched as Shifter charged first. He took to the air and charged at Hudie, who spread her own wings and flew up to dodge his attack.
Gule then rushed towards Morphic, his body sparking with energy as Morphic took a defensive stance. And as Gule threw a punch at him, Morphic managed to block it and threw his arm away before punching at him. Gule ducked under the punch and laser that fired before punching Morphic in the gut, knocking him backwards.
Cadance flinched at this, but Morphic managed to regain control and fire several lasers.
The four Mimics kept fighting, whilst all the others could do was watch. But soon, their attention was pulled away from the fight by another alarm going off. And as Corvyn rushed over to his computer, he frowned. "Shining was right. Those two were just a distraction. A food processing plant is being attacked."
"Food processing plant?" Rainbow frowned, "why are they attacking there?"
Applejack nodded. "Do ya'h have any idea how much power is needed to run those places. If it's a meat plant, they'd need to keep the whole place refrigerated ta keep the meat from goin' off."
"She's right," Twilight agreed. "If they're trying to steal more power, they must be targeting the areas that have a lot of power. That explains why they attacked the amusement park."
"So what do we do?" Thorax asked. "How many Mimics are there?" Corvyn frowned as he checked and sighed.
"Four. I'm guessing that's all the Mimic Generals." Everyone frowned, knowing that beating them wouldn't be easy with just Thorax. "What's the plan?"
"Do you have any more weapons we can use against Mimics?" Sunset asked, with Corvyn nodding before opening up a box on the ground. They looked down and saw four blasters, Sunset and Fluttershy picking one up. Pharynx also grabbed one and much to everyone's surprise, Cadance followed suit.
"I'm helping," she told them before any of them could argue. "You're gonna need all the help you can get." They frowned, but nodded.
"Just be careful." Thorax took out his Mimicore and activated it.
"SLASH!"
He moved into the other room and placed his Mimicore into the Driver, the others stepping out behind him as he struck a pose. "HENSHIN!" With that, he slammed the draw closed as the portal formed in front of them.
"MIMIC! MANTIS!" The cocoon began to form, as the portal flew forward and they all travelled through it. Once through, they found themselves outside the food processing plant. And sure enough, a bunch of Mimicreeps were terrifying anyone who had been working that day.
As the Mimicreeps turned to them, the cocoon shattered and Changeling stood there. His armor slammed onto him, his arms quickly forming his swords out of them as his Driver spoke up. "Bladed arms that slice through anything, cutting down the evils of the world!"
Before the Mimicreeps could attack, Cadance, Sunset, Fluttershy and Pharynx began to fire their weapons and blast several of them down.
This gave Changeling the time he needed to rush up to the group and start slicing away at the monsters. They all screamed, as they were destroyed by each and every cut. The other Rainbooms also got in close, with Applejack and Rainbow getting up close and personal.
Twilight pulled some of them into the air, giving Rarity and Pinkie free rein to launch their attacks at them without damaging the building.
Within moments, the Mimicreeps had all been dealt with. This allowed them to enter the production plant and start looking around. "I've got a lock," Twilight explained as she held her scanner up. "This way!" She ran forward and the others followed, as they eventually arrived at the main work room.
A bunch of conveyor belts and other machines filled the room, all requiring a large amount of power. The place was also freezing, to keep the food from stalling. And standing in the middle of the room were the four Mimic Generals, all with a power pack in hand.
High was the first to notice them, the tiger standing up and glaring at them. "So, you guys showed up? I was hoping all three of you Riders would come. But I'll happily take this one out." The other Mimics also prepared for battle, with High charging forward first.
Changeling ran forward and they both leapt into the air, their swords and claws grinding against one another as they fell down and landed. They pushed against one another, as the others began to battle the other Mimics there.
Twilight, Rarity and Cadance found themselves facing off against Frill, whilst Sunset, Rainbow and Pinkie were fighting Greye. This left Applejack, Fluttershy and Pharynx staring down Maya, as the Spider Mimic fired webs at them.
Applejack grabbed a piece of machinery and ripped it out of the ground, using it to shield the three of them until Maya stopped firing. And when she did, Pharynx jumped out and started firing at her. But she was able to avoid all the attacks, even when Fluttershy fired as well.
Applejack then threw the machine at her and Maya leapt up, using her web to catapult herself up and over it.
Rainbow got in close to Greye and threw several kicks at him, but Greye was able to block them all before slashing at her. Rainbow avoided the blades and staggered back, as Sunset and Pinkie fired. The explosions that followed, knocked Greye staggering back.
Frill launched several darts towards the girls he was fighting, but Rarity shielded them and Twilight grabbed a few in her magic. And with a grunt, she threw the attacks back towards him and he took off to fly over them.
But as he did, Cadance fired her laser at him. She aimed for his wings, making him flinch when several shots struck them and he fell to the ground. But he managed to land and glared at Cadance, who gave him a smirk whilst he summoned his swords.
"I'm going to make you pay for that." But before he could attack, Rarity put up another wall of shields. And as he stepped backwards, Cadance fired her blaster through a hole Rarity made. Frill slashed at the blast, deflecting it, then fired a dart in an attempt to hit Cadance through the wall. But Rarity closed it at the last moment.
As this was all happening, Changeling and High were fighting one another.
Changeling found himself getting thrown across the room, landing on a conveyor belt as it somehow switched on. And as he rolled along it, High charged up her lightning and fired it at the machine. When the bolt struck, it made the belt speed up whilst charging the metal up.
Changeling barely had enough time to kick himself off the belt and fall to the ground, barely missing getting zapped.
He pushed himself up and High charged, slashing at him only for the Rider to block with his swords. He then dealt a kick to her side, only for High's electrified body to zap him. "Gyah!" The shock knocked him off balance and allowed High to overpower him, knocking him back before unleashing a blast of lightning.
The attack struck and blew Changeling backwards, making him cry out as he flew across the room and slammed into another machine before hitting the ground.
Changeling groaned, as he picked himself up. And as he did, High approached him. He needed to find a way to turn the tables. But how?
Back with the other Riders, their fight was just as fierce.
In the air, Shifter attacked Hudie with everything he had. He soared forward and tried to kick her, but the butterfly Rider managed to block his attack and deal her own kick right into his chest. "Gyah!" He was pushed backwards and spread his wings to keep himself from falling too far.
Shifter glared at her, as Hudie giggled. "I bet you're wishing you still had your Shift Striker and those two Mimicores. Now what happened to them?"
"Shut up!" Sheave charged at her and with a powerful beat of his wings, he unleashed a blast of wind that flew towards her. And before Hudie could prepare herself, the gale pushed her backwards and she almost lost control.
At the last moment, she managed to launch her Grace Grazer towards a nearby lamppost and used it to swing herself around and land on a nearby rooftop. But as she retracted the ribbon, Shifter flew up and tried to attack again.
Down on the ground, Morphic and Gule continued their fight. Morphic launched several punches at the hybrid Rider, who managed to avoid them whilst dealing his own swift kicks to him. Morphic's higher defensive powers allowed him to withstand these attacks, the energy flowing into him hitting areas the Rider were tensing to guard.
One kick was eventually caught by Morphic, who withstood the zapping he got as he dealt a punch straight to Gule's stomach.
"GYAH!" He was blasted back by the laser, barely managing to spin around and land on his feet with a slight stagger.
"That was for tricking my sister," Shining stated. "And it's only the beginning." He charged his gauntlets before thrusting them into the ground, unleashing the energy which flew through it and was about to explode under Gule's feet.
But at the last moment, Gule unleashed a bunch of his own energy. This energy swirled around him and as the explosion occurred, it acted as a shield to protect him.
As the explosion rocked the street, Hudie flew at Shifter and dealt several swift kicks to him. But Shifter managed to dodge them all and deal his own punch straight to Hudie's chest, making her flinch as she was knocked backwards and landed on the edge of the building.
Shifter chuckled. "Don't you know that owls vastly outclass butterflies when it comes to aerial skills?" He spread his wings and began to take off. "We're bigger, faster, more manoeuvrable and are just better in every way!" With that, he started to create a powerful wind that threatened to blow Hudie away.
The female Rider grunted, as the wind smashed into her over and over again.
Shifter smirked, thinking she would spread her wings and let the wind push her off the roof. But instead, Hudie's wings shrank and she was blown over the edge. "What?" He stopped and flew over to the edge, looking down only to suddenly find Hudie flying straight up and dealing a kick into his chin. "GYAH!" He was thrown backwards and as he was off balance, Hudie unleashed her own gale.
The corrupted Rider was blown backwards, crashing into the edge of the building and bouncing off it before falling to the ground.
He barely managed to spread his wins and stop his descent in time, landing on the ground and staggering around without too much damage. But as he tried to regain his balance, Hudie flew down and summoned her Grace Grazer to whip at him several time.
He was forced to dance around, eventually getting a good distance from her as she landed. He clutched his chin in pain and glared at her. "Lucky shot."
"Maybe," Hudie chuckled. "But you can thank Katar for the idea. She was the one who came up with it." Shifter growled. "Too bad you don't have anyone to bounce ideas off of."
"It's unnatural for a Mimic to help a non-Mimic. You two disgust me." Hudie shrugged before the two charged at one another, ready to end this battle.
Back at the food plant, the fights continued and caused the place to be absolutely destroyed.
High was launching a bunch of lightning bolts at Changeling, who was jumping around trying to get away from attacks. And with each dodge, a machine was fried or electrocuted. At one point, Changeling managed to dodge and a lightning blast hit a machine behind him.
At the same time, Rarity sent a wall of gems at Frill. They slammed into him and pushed him back, until he slammed into a machine behind him. The same one that had just been struck by the thunder bolt, causing him to be electrocuted. "GYAH!" He was blasted away, smoking as he staggered around.
Changeling chose this moment to slash at High, but the tiger managed to avoid his attack and jump away.
She then transformed into a blur, which shot around the room before attacking Changeling from multiple directions. "Augh!" He was thrown backwards and crashed into a bunch of metal barrels, knocking them down and causing them to be sent rolling in different directions.
He groaned, as High landed and charged up for another attack. Her claws sparked with serious energy, as she prepared to run forward and deal serious damage to the Rider.
But as Changeling pushed himself up, he noticed the cans all around him and caught sight of the label. And as High was about to attack, an idea appeared in his head.
Grabbing his sword, he threw it at the can between them and as High charged, it pierced the metal and caused what was inside to be released. And within seconds, a cloud of white smoke filled the room and High ran right through it.
Time seemed to slow down for High, as she suddenly felt an incredibly terrible stinging sensation at her feet. And as Changeling jumped away, High looked down to see her feet suddenly covered in a layer of white stuff and slowly spreading up her body.
"What?" She leapt up and out of the white stuff stopped spreading around her feet, but it didn't reserve what had happened. And as Greye looked around, around, he saw what had happened to High and realised what she had just walked on.
"HIGH! Don't land on your feet!" But it was too late, as High did exactly that. And the impact caused her feet to shatter, making her scream as she fell to the ground. The pieces of her destroyed feet scattered about, as High stared at the lumps that had once been her feet.
"What...what happened?"
Twilight saw this and laughed. "Liquid nitrogen. Lots of plants use it to keep their equipment cool. And you just ran right through it."
High panted, as Changeling retrieved his sword and slammed the side of his Driver.
"CLIMATIC SLASH!"
"I will change your fate's design." Everyone watched, as the blades of his swords glowed and with a quick swing they launched an X-shaped attack towards High and slammed right into her. She screamed, as the energy locked her in place and prevented her from being able to escape.
Changeling then ran forward, his swords melting back into his armor as he picked up speed. And as he prepared to Rider Kick her into destruction, Maya finally acted and launched a web towards High.
It struck her in the back and with a pull, High was yanked away from the X-shaped blast. So when Changeling slammed into it, the blade was fired towards a wall and caused it to explode. The damage this caused was incredible and as the building around them started shaking, everyone realised they had to get out of there.
"Let's move!" Twilight cried, as the Mimics ran over to where their power packs were plugged in.
"What about them?" Rainbow asked, as Frill unplugged them. Maya had High on her back and was carrying her towards an opening portal, Greye and Frill following them.
"Leave them!" Sunset yelled, as they ran for the door. By some miracle, they managed to get out before it was too late. But a few moments later, the whole building crumpled and they were all bathed in dust and started coughing.
When the dust settled, they saw that the building was completely destroyed. "That was close," Applejack coughed. "Another second and we would have been buried alive."
"But the Mimics got away!" Pinkie frowned, as Changeling transformed back to normal.
"Maybe. But they didn't get all the energy they were after." Thorax turned to the others, as they heard a siren in the distance. "We should probably get out of here." They nodded, as a portal opened for their escape. And as they jumped through, they wondered how the other fight was going.
Back on the street, Gule's energy field remained up as he attacked Morphic.
Morphic leapt from side to side, doing his best to avoid the energy blasts that Gule was firing at him. He then launched his own laser, which just bounced off the energy field and let Gule get in close. But Morphic refused to let it stop him, as he charged at Gule.
"Raaaah!" His blasters fired and he actually caught the energy, his hand glowing as he thrust it right into the energy whilst releasing the power he held. The energy flowed into the energy shield and pushed against it, causing it to flux as Morphic thrust his other fist into the shield and unleashed a trio of lasers.
Said lasers exploded against the barrier and knocked Gule backwards, Morphic staggering back at the same time. But the energy field remained up, despite Gule being off balance. And as he began to regain his balance, Morphic slammed the side of his Driver.
"CLIMATIC TRI-HORN!"
Morphic's hands and his right foot glowed, as energy spikes formed around them. And as the T-Rex pushed itself up, Morphic thrust the three spikes forward and they shot off him. They flew towards the Mimic Rider, two moving through the air whilst the third travelled along the ground.
Gule saw them coming and quickly reinforced his shield, as all three slammed into it at the same spot.
Morphic then ran forward before leaping into the air, thrusting his leg forward as the three spikes suddenly merged into one. His foot slammed into the back of the now extra large spike and pushed it forward, causing it to stab into the forcefield and cause the energy that created it to become unstable.
"RAAAAH!" Morphic roared, as he finally managed to push through the energy and knock Gule back.
The field exploded and Gule cried out, as he was sent spinning through the air until he managed to land and keep himself from falling over. Morphic then landed and charged, attempting to finish this with a punch. But Gule was ready.
At the last moment, Gule ducked under his punch before dealing one to Morphic's chest. This knocked Morphic back and allowed Gule to leap up and summon his energy wings. He then dived at Morphic and as he reached him, all the energy flew off his wings and into his boots before he thrust them forward.
"GYAH!" Morphic cried, getting blasted backwards and crashing into the side of a building.
He hit the ground, but managed to keep himself from collapsing. And as Gule landed, Morphic pushed himself up. "You need to learn when you're beat."
"No way," Morphic growled. "Not gonna happen!" He charged again and Gule met him head on.
Over with Hudie and Shifter, Hudie was doing her best to avoid Shifter's punches and kicks. And as she jumped back, avoiding another punch, she spread her wings and flew up before unleashing a powerful wind.
That wind flew down and slammed into Shifter, making him cry out as he was thrown backwards. And as he spread his wings to gain control, Hudie whipped her Grace Grazer around and it quickly wrapped around his leg. "RAAAAH!" Hudie pulled with everything she had, forcing Shifter towards the ground as she ran at him.
Before Shifter could regain control, she leapt at him and smashed her boot into the Rider's chest.
He screamed out as he was thrown backwards, only for Hudie to pull him back towards her and do and front flip kick. This forced him down into the ground, as Hudie jumped back and uncoiled her ribbon from around his leg.
Shifter groaned, but forced himself up as Hudie slammed the side of her Driver.
"CLIMATIC FLUTTER!"
Shifter growled before smashing his own Driver, making it glow as the dark energy surged.
"MALEFIC CLIMAX!"
The two spread their wings and started unleashing a pair of gales, which slammed into one another and swirled into a tornado between them. And soon, the pair were running into it and flying in a spiral around one another. With every second, they picked up more and more speed.
Eventually, they both shot towards one another and thrust their legs forward. They impacted one another at the same time, attempting to overpower the other. And whilst it seemed they were even, Hudie used her Grace Grazer to fly past Shifter and wrap around a nearby lamppost.
"RAAAAAAAAAAH!" She pulled and the added force allowed her to overpower Shifter, the ribbon pulling her and pushing him towards the lamppost until they smashed into and through it before Shifter was slammed into a wall behind it.
"GYAH!" The next thing he knew, Shifter was consumed by an explosion with Hudie spreading her wings to be blown away from it. The Malefic Rider fell towards the ground, the explosion still going on and dealing him more damage. And soon, his Driver was thrown open and his Mimicore was launched out of it.
Morphic and Gule saw this and Gule gasped, "NO!" He unleashed another burst of energy, which struck Morphic and knocked him away. This allowed him to fly towards Shifter, as the Rider's suit disappeared whilst Hudie flew down and grabbed his Mimicore.
Sheave laid there, looking seriously beat up.
His clothes were a mess, his body was covered in slime oozing cuts and he even had several burns. All he could do was lay there, groaning as Gule reached him. "Hold on!" He picked his brother up, as Hudie tried to stop them. But he unleashed a blast of lightning that forced her back. And when the explosion ended, Hudie saw they were gone with a closing portal the only thing to indicate where they went.
Hudie sighed, as Morphic moved over to her. "You did good," he told her before looking down at the Flight Core she had retrieved. Now that Shifter was down to only one Malefic Form, he would be less of a threat. "Come on. Let's get back to the base." Hudie nodded, hoping the others had managed to stop whatever the Mimics had been distracting them from.
At the Mimic Lair, Gule and Sheave had returned and as soon as they did, they heard screams of agony coming from one corner of the room.
With Gule helping Sheave over to this area, they found High on one of the tables with her legs much shorter than they should have been. "What happened to you?" Gule asked, with High panting as she glared at them. They watched as Maya pushed a machine towards her, which had a long arm with a satellite dish on the end of it.
"She got cocky and had her legs frozen. If it hadn't been for me, she might not even be here right now."
"Oh, how horrible that would have been." High's glare at Gule grew venomous, as Maya activated the device. This caused it to unleash a green beam, which struck one of her legs and caused it to start slowly growing.
"This will take a while." High screamed, the energy flowing into her feeling horrible. Maya then turned to Sheave, noticing how badly damaged he was. "Seriously? Did you get beaten up by that traitor again?"
Sheave blushed, as he was carried over to another bench by Gule. As he did, Sombra stepped into the room and noticed the two damage Mimics. "What happened?" He moved over to them, focusing on High first. "Not only did you allow yourself to be defeated by that Rider. But because of you, the mission was called off before you could get a complete charge."
"I'm sorry, master." High couldn't look him in the eye. "That Rider got lucky. He won't be so lucky next time."
Sombra then turned to Sheave. "And you. Defeated again. You had the most diverse power set of all my Mimics and you lose over and over. You even had the Maleficore and you let that get beaten."
"I'm sorry, Master." Sheave looked down. "Katar and her human are...their combined might is incredible."
"I don't want to hear excuses!" Sombra growled. "I want to hear how you intend to fix this. Now that you've lost three of our four Malefic Forms. You had better find a way to make this work or you will be sorry." He left them to get healed, as the pair just remained there fearing their futures if they didn't change things soon.
"Yikes," Flash said in Sheave's head. "Talk about a hostile work environment."
"I don't see why you're making jokes about this."
"Because if you keep failing, it could mean your boss will destroy you. And if that happens, I'll be free." He smirked, but stopped when Sheave smiled back at him.
"Don't be stupid. You know who Sombra is now. Do you really think he'd risk you exposing him. If he does choose to get rid of me, it'll be in a way where we both don't come out of it alive. I'm not sure what that would be, but I doubt you want to risk finding out." Flash glared at him, as he chuckled. "So yeah. Don't go celebrating my failures. Because it brings you one step closer to never being free at all."
Now Flash was worried and Sheave was sharing that sentiment, he and High knowing they needed to find a way to prove themselves and quickly.
The next day.
School was back in session after a little break they had taken due to the situation with the Doom Pillars. And as the school bell rang, Thorax, Pharynx and the Rainbooms were making their way towards the school whilst looking worried.
"You think people will wonder where Flash is?" Pinkie asked, as they stepped into the building.
The others nodded. Shining had spent the previous night keeping an eye out on Flash's home, fearing Sheave might try something to Flash's family. But he hadn't been there, Shining having barely gotten any sleep because of his stake out.
Now that school was back in session, they worried people might wonder where Flash was. But as they turned towards their lockers, they all stopped and stared in shock at someone looking through a locker. The very person they had just been thinking about.
Flash, or should that be Sheave, did not look happy as he sorted through everything in the locker. And when he finally found what he was looking for, he closed the locker before noticing the lot of them. A smirk appeared on his lips, mocking them as they tried to figure out what the heck was going on.
Author's Note
So now we have an explanation for Gule's return. Human Mimic Hybrids. Bet you weren't expecting that. How will all of this play out in the future? Only time will tell.
