17. Meeting Legends

The Cutie Mark Crusaders and Diamond Tiara had a pleasant night's sleep after Apple Bloom's win at the Ecruteak City gym. The girls met Morty atba place called the Tin Tower.

"Good morning, girls." Morty greeted. "Thank you for meeting me here."

"So, what is this all about? Scootaloo wondered.

"You came at a good time. The legendary Ho-Oh has returned."

"Ho-Oh?" Apple Bloom said. "What's that?"

"If I'm not mistaken," Diamond Tiara answered, "that is one of the legendary bird Pokémon here in Johto."

"You mean like Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres?"

"Sort of. I read about the legendary Pokemon of Johto. You'll be impressed."

So, the four maidens followed Morty into the Tin Tower. As they climb up, Sweetie Belle started to get tired. "Somebody should install an elevator in this place."

"It's not too far." Morty said. "Just follow me."

The group climbed up to the top. The girls were waiting for this Pokémon Morty talked about. Even Eevee, who is with Diamond Tiara, looked around. Minutes later, everybody saw something in the sky. It was a majestic looking bird that looks like it has all of the colors of the rainbow. On the ground outside, the nefarious Scorch sees the bird.

"Is that Ho-Oh?" Scorch gasped. "I never thought I see one." He then got mad. "Those three dizzy dames are probably in that tower. When they come down, I'll crush them!"

On the top of the tower, the group sees this bird. Apple Bloom got out her Pokédex. Ho-Oh, the Rainbow Pokémon. Legend has it that if you receive a rainbow wing from this Pokémon, you'll be given good fortune.

The bird lands on the roof. The girls are all amazed by the sight of this Pokémon. Ho-Oh looks at Apple Bloom with interest. The farm girl starts to get nervous. Suddenly, she hears a male voice. There is nothing to fear. I will not hurt you.

Apple Bloom got shocked. "Was that your voice, Ho-Oh? Feels like you're using telepathy."

Yes. I feel that you and your two friends have been through many trials. And, suffered for such. But, be assured, your nightmares are over.

Diamond and Eevee watch with amazement. Soon, Ho-Oh rises, and flies off. Sweetie Belle notices something about Apple Bloom. "Hey, what's that on your head?"

Apple Bloom soon saw what it was. It seems to be a feather glowing in all of the colors of the rainbow. "Is this a Rainbow Wing?'

"It is." Morty answered. "Perhaps Ho-Oh senses something special about you. Those who receive a Rainbow Wing will have good luck with them."

Diamond Tiara stepped up. "When we get back down, Me and my mother can fashion that Rainbow Wing in something you can carry easily."

"Please be careful." Apple suggested. "That item looks delicate."

"Relax. We'll be careful."

Later, the girls are at the bottom of the tower and waiting for Diamond who borrowed the Rainbow Wing. Just then, Scorch showed up.

"You girls are getting on my nerves!" Scorch said angrily. "Time for you to go home. Go, Haunter!"

Scorch calls out a Haunter. Apple Bloom steps up. "Let's go, Drowzee!"

When Drowzee comes out, Scorch scoffed it. "This will be easy. Haunter, Shadow Punch!"

Haunter made a black fist appear. Apple Bloom reacted quickly. "Dodge it. Then, use Psybeam!"

After dodging the Shadow Punch, Drowzee unleashed psychic energy on Haunter. After it fainted, Scorch recalled Haunter and got angry. "You won't get in my way. Go, Magnemite!"

Out pops a metal orb with magnets on each side. Apple Bloom gets out her Pokédex. Magnemite, the Magnet Pokémon. It floats courtesy of electromagnetic waves.

Just then, Scorch gives out a command. "Magnemite, use Thunderbolt!"

Magnemite unleashed electric energy at Apple Bloom. Scorch laughed, seeing Apple Bloom frazzled. Scootaloo got angry. "You can't attack a person with a Pokémon!'

"Shut up, you dumb broad!" Scorch said angrily.

Scootaloo got out her own Poké Ball. "Come out, Wooper!"

Scorch saw Wooper, and got nervous. "Uh oh."

"Wooper, use Mud Shot!"

Wooper blasts Magnemite with a burst of mud. Magnemite soon fainted.

"That Wooper maybe a water type." Scorch said as he called Magnemite. "But, it also has ground traits, making electric attacks useless." He then makes another choice. "Ground attacks won't stop this. Go, Zubat!"

As Zubat comes out, Sweetie Belle steps up. "Call Wooper back. I got this. Go, Beedrill!"

Apple Bloom recovers, and saw Beedrill come along. "Sweetie Belle must've been training."

"Beedrill," Sweetie calls out, "use String Shot!"

The Poison Bee Pokémon shoots strong silk at Zubat before Scorch makes his move.

"Now, use Twineedle!" Sweetie calls out.

Using it's two front stingers, Beedrill strikes Zubat hard. Scorch recalls Zubat, and makes another move. "This is my last Pokémon. Go, Croconaw!"

When Apple Bloom saw Croconaw, she made her next move. "Let's go, Flaaffy!"

Scorch looked at Flaaffy. And, is not impressed. "Croconaw, drench that pink pest with Water Gun!"

Croconaw fired a Water Gun at Flaaffy. But, it wasn't very effective. Apple Bloom strikes back. "Flaaffy, let's show it your Electro Ball."

Flaaffy let's loose a ball of electrical power at Croconaw. When it fainted, Scorch was shocked.

"These dames are tougher than I thought." Scorch said as he recalled his Croconaw. "I'll never underestimate them again."

As Scorch leaves the area, the girls saw an old tower. Suddenly, bursts of yellow, red, and blue flew out of the tower.

"What was that?" Scootaloo asked.

Morty came along to answer her. "Somebody must've entered the Burned Tower and awakened three legendary Pokémon. Raikou, Entei, and Suicine."

This got the girls intrigued. Later, they are in the Pokémon Center, discussing their next move.

"Diamond said that she's heading back to her parents, who are staying here in Johto." Apple Bloom said. "She was very helpful to us."

"Meanwhile," Sweetie Belle added, "the next gym location is in Olivine City. That's our next stop."

They girls then went to sleep. Their journey continues.
