The farm girl hits a delay in having her next gym battle.

19. Roadblocks at Olivine

The noble trio of Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo continue their trek to Olivine City. They take a break, relaxing in a wooded area drinking from bottles given to them at the Moo Moo Farm.

"This Moo Moo Milk is delicious." Scootaloo praised. "I wish they had this kind of milk at Canterlot."

"I'm with you." Apple Bloom added. "I had fresh milk before. But, not like this."

Just then, they heard a gruff male voice. "Hello, young ladies. Fancy meeting you here."

The girls looked up, and saw it was a light brown skinned man wearing a brown suit. Sweetie Belle recognized him. "Mr. Cranky Doodle! What are you doing here?"

"I took a trip to have a look at a lighthouse in Olivine City." Cranky Doodle explained.

"We're heading there too." Apple Bloom said. "I'm hoping to take on the gym leader."

"You're taking part of the Johto Gym Challenge?"

Apple Bloom took out her badge cae, and showed the gruff teacher from CHS her four badges. "Does this answer your question?"

"Probably better than words." Cranky Doodle replied. "Let's go together."

Cranky Doodle lead the girls to their destination. After arriving at Olivine City, the girls dropped their empty bottles in the recycling bin.

"I applaud you, girls." Cranky Doodle said. "It's always good to recycle. But, where did you get that Moo Moo Milk?"

"We got that milk from Moo Moo Farm." Apple Bloom answered. "It's where we helped a sick Miltank."

"You three sure rose up from that unfortunate part of your past."

This made the girls feel good. The girls asked around for the gym leader. They were told that she was at the top of the lighthouse. Inside, they started climbing the stairs.

"I heard that this lighthouse is used to light the way for boats." Apple Bloom said. "This way, there won't be accidents at sea."

When they reached the top, they saw a woman with light brown hair and wearing a white dress looking at a yellow Pokémon with a long tail, and a red jewel on it's head.

"That's sn Ampharos." Apple Bloom said as she pulled out her Pokédex. "That's what my Flaaffy will evolve into."

Ampharos, the Light Pokémon and the evolved of Flaaffy. The Pokédex said. The tip of it's tail can flash so brightly, it can seen from great distances.

The woman heard the Pokédex, then saw the girls. "Hello, there. I'm afraid this lighthouse is closed for now. My poor Ampharos is sick."

Scootaloo looked at the Ampharos with concern. "What's wrong with it?"

"A bit of electric overload. Something common with electric Pokémon. There is a special medicine in Cianwood City that cures this condition."

Just then, a black haired girl bursted in and started at the girls. "What are you three thieves doing here?"

"Thieves?" Sweetie Belle gasped. "We're not crooks. We came by to meet the Gym leader."

The black haired girl got mad again. "You don't fool me. You're trying to steal our Ampharos for the Changelings!"

This got Apple Bloom upset. "We're not associated with those thugs. They caused trouble for us too."

They then heard a female voice from outside. "Gym Leader Jasmine. Hand over that Ampharos!"

The girls look outside, and saw Chrysalis and a few Changelings.

The woman turned to the girl. "Janina, watch over Sparkle. I'll deal with this."

As the woman walks downstairs, the CMCs follow her, hoping to help.

"So, this woman is the Gym leader, Jasmine." Apple Bloom thought. "I'll remember that when her Ampharos is healed."

The group assemble to face the hooded fiends.

"Get lost, Chrysalis!" Apple Bloom demanded. "That Ampharos is sick!"

"So, the Cutie Mark Crusaders." Chrysalis said. "We meet again."

In the lighthouse, Janina heard the conversation. "Cutie Mark Crusaders? The former creators of Anon-a-Miss? This changes everything."

"Changelings, unleash the Beedrill!" Chrysalis ordered.

The Changelings unleashed Beedrills to stop the girls. Apple Bloom has a big surprise. "Let's go, Scyther!"

Scyther comes out, and it shocks Chrysalis. "Scyther, the Mantis Pokémon. I wish we had that one."

"We'll back you up, Apple Bloom." Sweetie said. "Go, Croconaw!"

"You too, Wooper!" Scootaloo added.

The two water Pokémon come out. The group if Changelings spoke inunison. "Twineedle!"

The swarm of Beedrill charged to attack. But, Apple Bloom strikes fast. "Scyther, use Wing Attack!"

Flying fast, Scyther strikes at the swarm. Wooper and Croconaw blasted the Beedrill with Water Gun. This got Chrysalis nervous. "Let's beat it!"

The Changelngs recalled their Beedrill and left. Later, Jasmine talked with Janina.

"Now that the Changelings are dealt with," Jasmine said, "will you please take the ferry to Cianwood City to fetch the medicine?"

"No problem." Janina replied. "I'll help get Sparkle back to health."

This left the girls in a peculiar dilemma. Apple Bloom spoke up. "So, what'll we do until Janina comes back?"

Janina comes over to answer Apple Bloom's question. "You're still looking for a gym battle. Right?"

"Yeah. So?"

"There's a Pokémon gym at Cianwood City. The Gym leader there specializes in Fighting Pokémon."

Scootaloo soon had an idea. "Hey. Drowzee and Pidgeotto could be helpful here."

"Maybe, Scoots." Apple Bloom replied. "But, let's see what I can do with the Pokémon I have."

"Good point. Who knows what the gym leader will have."

With a game set, Apple Bloom and her friends join Janina on a boat ride to Cianwood City. While Janina gets the medicine to heal the Ampharos, Apple Bloom prepares for her fifth gym battle. Meanwhile, in Kanto, Rumble soon arrives in Celadon City.

"Going through that Rock Tunnel wasn't easy." Rumble said. "Luckily, my Golbat learned Flash to light up that tunnel.'

He soon looks around the city, and looks at an abandoned building.

"I hear that Diamond Tiara helped rid this place of Team Rocket." Rumble figured. "Maybe that elegant gal isn't so bad as Applejack said she is."

Soon, Rumble heads for the Pokémon Center to heal his Pokémon. This way, he'll be ready for his gym battle.
