July 2-Joke Boat

Apple Bloom looks out the window of her room, and watches a rainfall. Fortunately, it's at night.

"Maybe the sound of the rainfall can relax me." Apple Bloom said to herself. "I've got to get these feelings of sorrow away from me."

The farm girl climbed into her bed, and let's the sound of the rain lull her to sleep. The next day, Apple Bloom walks around the neighborhood, looking around and see a few puddles on the ground.

"I remember back at Sweet Apple Acres, I would jump barefoot into puddles after a rainfall." Apple Bloom chirped. "Maybe, if I think of the good times me and Applejack had together, my sorrow will go away."

As she sat on a bench, Apple Bloom thought of how Applejack gave her a hug, forgiving her for the Anon-a-Miss conspiracy. She felt a lot better, despite she and her partners getting detention for their stunt. As Apple Bloom recently got a cone from an ice cream truck, she sees Pinkie Pie passing by.

"Howdy, Pinkie." Apple Bloom greeted.

"Hi, Apple Bloom." Pinkie said happily. "How are you enjoying your stay in Jackbox Village?"

"It's okay. I did have a snag while visiting that Wheel of Enormous Proportions."

"I heard of that. No wonder Rainbow Dash had to tie you up before she took you to the Scrawleseum."

Apple Bloom nodded sadly before going back to her ice cream. Pinkie then had an idea to perk her up.

"Maybe what you need is a boat ride." Pinkie suggested. "I'm meeting my friend, Cheese Sandwich, at the dock."

"You mean, I'm coming along with ya?" Apple Bloom wondered.

"Of course, silly. Follow me."

Apple Bloom followed Pinkie down the road. They soon made their way to the dock where they stopped to marvel a magnificent ship.

"Here we are." Pinkie announced. "The good ship Sea Minus."

"Sea Minus?" Apple Bloom gasped. "That's the Joke Boat!"

"That's right!" Said the voice of an excited young man.

That voice belonged to the entertaining Cheese Sandwich. He waved to the girl from the boarding plank.

"Hello, Pinkie." Cheese greeted. "I see you brought miss Apple Bloom along."

"I sure did." Pinkie replied. "This poor darling needed some cheering up."

"Okay, then. Let's go. Captain Chuck Hull awaits."

The three went aboard the boat. They saw there were quite a few people on this ship. Apple Bloom notices that Pinkie and Cheese were joining six other people in a special section.

"Hey, you two." Apple Bloom called out. "Why are you guys in this group?"

“They'd be the entertainers." Said the voice of an old man.

In steps a elegant looking man wearing a Captain's outfit. Apple Bloom notices that this man has a hook for a hand and a parrot on his shoulder.

"Captain Chuck Hull, I presume?" Apple Bloom said.

"That be me, matey." The captain said. "You must be Apple Bloom. I heard so much of ya."

This made Apple Bloom nervous. "Then, ya don't need me around here. So, bye bye."

"Just a minute, dearie." Chuck Hull brings her back on board. "This is the reason why miss Pie brought ya here. To help you relax and forget about your dark past. After all, laughter is the best medicine."

"Would it really help me feel better?"

"I guarantee it, matey. So, mingle with the other guests. You'll know when the comedy fun will begin."

Later, the ship was sailing smoothly as Chuck Hull appears on a stage with many people attending, Apple Bloom included.

"Hello, folks." Hull greeted. "Time to have some laughs with our comedians."

A black haired girl came up to tell her story. "I treat my boyfriend like I treat a dog. I make sure he's always obedient."

The crowd looks not so impressed. Pinkie Pie steps in for her turn in the spotlight. "A box of chocolates remind me of birthday parties. Always full of surprises."

The crowd applauded. They think that was good. More comics had their chance. Soon, Cheese Sandwich came onto the stage. "What's a good thing about skeletons? They have a good rhythm. No bones about it."

Every liked that bone reference. Just then, the boat bumbed onto a rubber duckie in the water. The boat started to wobble. The people started to panic as the ship is starting to break apart.

"Don't fear, folks." Chuck Hull assured. "When we hit that obstacle, I called an emergency station. Rescue boats are on the way. In the meanwhile, let's have a contest."

The captain gave the comics pieces of paper and explained the game. "These are the jokes you guys told. Now, I want you to change the punchlines depending on who's joke you received. You'll get points if your punchline is better or if the original one is better. Whoever has the most points wins."

As the contest went on, a bald man redid Pinkie's joke. "A box of chocolates remind me of birthday parties. Oh so sweet. Especially the presents."

Some of the people clapped. But, Pinkie's version was better. Soon, Pinkie was on stage. "I like mystery novels the way I like yoga. Full of twists and turns."

Everybody cheered. Including a yoga teacher who originally told that joke.

"That's a great punchline." The yoga teacher praised. "Bravo, miss Pinkie Pie."

Pinkie bowed to the crowd. Later, the passengers were brought back to shore as the Sea Minus is looked at to see where the repairs are needed.

"Sorry about your boat, Captain." Cheese said sadly.

"Not to worry, matey." Chuck Hull replied. "I had worse disasters than this."

Meanwhile, Apple Bloom was talking to Pinkie Pie, who won that contest.

"The people loved ya, Pinkie." Apple Bloom praised.

"Thanks." Pinkie Pie replied. "I hope all of that fun helped you forget your woes."

Pinkie was right. A day at sea helped Apple Bloom relax and enjoy herself. After being given a warm hug from the party girl, Apple Bloom went back to the Felmanders' house. On the way, she thought that maybe Applejack put the Anon-a-Miss stuff behind her and moved on. Hopefully.
