Fluttershy is depressed. She's not only depressed she's struggling really badly just to get through her everyday life, but there may just be more to it than depression.

Pinkie Pie convinces Fluttershy to spend more time with her after both are left without their responsibilities for a while. After spending some time together, their friendship might grow into something a little more.

Fluttershy is probably the sweetest mare in all of Ponyville, but we know next to nothing about her past. Fluttershy finally tells the story of her past to her friends after a compromising situation is thrust upon her.
