Before Sombra is defeated in the events of The Crystal Empire Part 2 he uses a spell to save himself by switching bodies with Twilight. Twilight is left to die in his own body and Sombras eyes turn from the empire. He wants more. He wants Equestria.

I spread my wings and flew. My fire dosed by the storm inside of me. I had a family. A small nest to call my own. A home. And they were all taken from me. Taken by those who feared us. Who despised us for what we weren’t.

One will alway see the sky and wish to touch it. To soar like the thousands who do it everyday. Naive to the gift they have been blessed with. But what will one Earth pony be willing to do to fly like his heros?
