After a year of inprisonment, Luna is freed from the Equestria Mental Asylum, by a mysterious force. Now on the run, she must make new allies with old foes, and but back together the remnants of Equestria that her sister has torn to shreds.

Princess Cadence has always wondered why she doesn't hear of her father or mother. When she tries to dig into her past, she is swept up by the chaos and adventure. The dark secrets of her past have come to wreak havoc over all of Equestria.

Inspired by the video, "Friendship Was Magic," Discord and Chrysalis return, and take down Canterlot Castle. Luna, who saves Twilight from the Castle, flees to the Ancient Ruins in the Everfree Forest. From there, she must save her empire.
