Things Are Alive

The sound of death tore me from the blackness; a scream like a banshee.

I was running outside; Vinyl was on the floor stunned.

I ripped the door of it's hinges in my dash.

The masked thing was there.

Somepony was underneath it; Twilight?

I didn't think; I was trowing the thing like it weighed as much as a piece of grass.

I was at Twilight's side waving my hoof in front of her face; no response. That thing had made her face seem to distort in terror; I lead her to the library. Vinyl was at our front door confused "Octy where'd the door go?" when she saw Twilight she started to help me carry her; I didn't really need the help.

I saw Fluttershy peeking around the corner "oh, I'm terribly sorry, I'll go."

I stopped her with soft words "will you go and get the Elements of Harmony? she had squeaked but nodded before disappearing. I turned my attention to Twilight and felt like my voice was honey as I spoke to her, "Twilight can you hear me?" - no response - "you're going to be alright honey" - "great choice of words" - the voice almost threw my concentration but I keep speaking in the same tone.

Vinyl was wide eyed watching me; I didn't stop stroking Twilight's mane speaking soothing nothings and I felt drained by the time I had calmed her down. I fell to my haunches before Vinyl was able to stop staring at me; in fear? "Are you okay Octy?" when she brushed against my side I smiled wide cuddling into her; I felt as weak as a kitten suddenly. "Octavia?" - was she worried or way it a quiver of fear I heard? - "what did you just do?"

I was confused but tried to answer "I talked, had wanted to calm her fear" the words were barely louder than when Fluttershy talked.

Vinyl wasn't as warm as normal but I still cuddled into her; something was on her mind as she mumbled "she shouldn't be able to do that yet."

I smiled softly "do what love?" at this point Twilight was starting to wake; if she had waited a half second longer the Elements of Harmony would have seen it happen. "Come in ladies" I had tried to stand so I could greet them properly but could barely move.

Applejack was the first one in checking on Twilight "what happened to y'all?" then Pinkie Pie was dragging Rainbow Dash in who was in turn dragging Fluttershy and then Rarity walked in calmly "Octavia your hair is simply breath taking" I smiled slightly at the complement.

Twilight was up trotting around "what happened?" she was trying to clear her head. Suddenly she laid on her belly in front of me like I did to Vinyl when I wanted to… you get the idea.

"Are you feeling okay Twilight" I was baffled by her attention; was she trying to seduce me?

When she spoke I cocked my head "never better" her voice was laced with something I wasn't quite sure of but Vinyl didn't like it and held me closer; was she jealous? and then she kissed my nose; I had flushed.

Vinyl was pissed and pushed Twilight back and the anger was obvious when she spoke "she's mine!" I shrunk at this hiding my muzzle into Vinyl's coat; I could hear Twilight scrambling around. Vinyl was breathing fast, almost huffing; she was upset.

"Twilight what'd you go an' do that for? Applejack sounded mystified by this. A sudden fear was rising in my mind; had I somehow seduced her? I let out a whimper when I felt Twilight's nose nudging my side. When I felt Vinyl tense to strike Twilight I nearly screamed pinning her under me; he body was really, really warm under mine "you're cute when you're jealous" I nipped her ear and was about to kiss her when I heard Fluttershy squick.

I was suddenly aware that everypony was watching us and I rolled over to hide my muzzle into Vinyl again. After the sudden desire faded I felt bad for what I did to Twilight, and my body was weak; Vinyl must have noticed because in the next moment she had me sitting against a wall with a blanket over my back.

She turned to Twilight with a menacing tone "if you so much as touch her" I had flushed slightly and just as my eye's were going to close they went wide "was that thing outside Flutershy?!" - Fluttershy screamed at that one scrambling behind Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie, I softened my voice - "I'm sorry, Fluttershy did you seen any other pony out in the streets?

She squeaked her answer "n-no" I had nearly let out a roar of anger but caught it before it had escaped my lips; I was almost trembling "Applejack?"

She looked right at me her hat was slipping down a little bit "what can I do for y'all?"

I was only a fraction of a second from trembling under a primal fear. "Could you fix my door? I kind of, err, broke it." If I remembered right it was in the street from where I dropped it.

She looked at the door frame and I was sure I heard her jaw drop "how'd you do that?" I didn't really know myself and was trying to come up with an answer.

I was grateful when Twilight spoke up for me; her voice was uncomfortably smooth "she's become stronger over night because of the transformation that Vinyl Scratch caused" I was surprised to learn that; had I changed? What was she talking about? - "Vinyl has some sharp fangs doesn't she? - I gasped in pain as the voice made it's self heard and I blacked out.

When I came to I was on Vinyl's bed and she was holding me close, she was shaking slightly; was she crying? I cuddled into her wanting to go to sleep "I love you Vinyl Scratch.

She nipped my ear slightly before holding me closer on the bed "get some sleep Octy" she had been crying… I did as she asked.
