Things Are Alive

It's my turn to take watch over Octavia, and the now living Vinyl Scratch. It was going to be a long agonizing task; I could be at home researching. I want to find out everything I can about-

A scream of pure terror, Octavia?

I ran as fast as I could.

Something bad is going on.

Why would she scream that loud?

Was that pony back?

I burst through the door at the same time Vinyl was reaching the landing.

Vinyl was trying to push the door open.

She couldn't make it budge.

She has advanced levels of strength, why can't she open the door?

Octavia must be scurrying against the door in terror.

I willed the magic up in my horn and then teleported.

When I appeared in the room nopony was there. Only a shattered mirror and Octavia scrambling against the door unable to turn the door knob with her shaky hooves. I wasn't sure it would work but I welled up magic in my horn and then tried to sooth Octavia's pounding heart- I didn't think those still worked - she stopped trying for the door knob.

Vinyl was able to press into the room and shortly after she was at Octavia's side "what's wrong Octavia?" she was scared for Octavia.

Octavia was shaking and was only able to point at the shattered mirror; stammering "I-i d-d-don't" - Vinyl was stroking her mane - "ha-a-ave a-a" - she was on edge about to cry - "reflection" -Vinyl stiffened hearing this - "b-b-b-but it couldn't " -Vinyl was staring at the ground ashamed - "Vinyl had showed i-i-it to me."

I looked at Vinyl with my eyes slitted "explain" she avoided eye contact; shrinking under my gaze. She was trying to come up with something to say "and it better be the truth or I will just have to get Applejack to ask."

Vinyl was taking a breath looking down at the trembling Octavia "I thought I could keep her from knowing she had changed until she had some sleep-" beat "- she tends to stay in a common, err, umm position when she's-" we both blushed "- well you know." I cut the magic feeling drained having finally gotten Octavia to sleep.

"You better tell her tomorrow" - I was about to leave - "understand?" Vinyl nodded and I left to continue my watch.

I was dizzy but finally found my way, when I got outside I thought I saw somepony "is that you Fluttershy?" it was gone after I blinked; I shrugged I just need some sleep. I turned hearing something behind me. I was ready for a fight; was I on edge? and then I shrunk back in fear.

The pony charged me.

"Don't get involved Element of Harmony!"

It was fast; faster than Rainbow Dash.

I jumped aside.

It barely missed me.

I swore; I wan't the target.

I used my magic to slam the door in it's face.

I screamed "you aren't harming them!"

The creature roared in rage.

I was tackled.

It smelled horrible; like death.

It's teeth were sharp; sharper than Vinyl's fangs.

It's eyes; those weren't any pony I knew. They were sickly red with black veins jutting in every direction.

"You shouldn't have done that little filly.

And then a blood curdling scream tore from my throat or maybe that was the thing over me ripping my throat out.
