Fluttershy was reading a book, but was greeted by a scream in the dark. She is attacked by a monster wearing a mask, and a young colt in a black suit comes to the rescue. He calls himself, "A Soul Reaper"

CHAPTER ONE

THE SUBSTITUTE SOUL REAPER

It was a dark, gloomy night. Everypony was asleep, and ponyville was calm. Everypony, but Fluttershy. She couldn't sleep, she had no idea why. She felt as if though somepony, or something, was watching her.

The pink-maned mare looked around her dark and empty house, and decided to pass time by reading a book. She took one off her shelf. Make-out paradise Rainbow Dash had given it to her, but she hadn't read it yet. She decided to give it a go, what was the worst thing that could happen?

Fluttershy turned to her door quickly. What was that? She asked herself. It sounded like a growl... She ignored it, and looked back at the book. She could feel something was wrong, but she had no idea why.

She sat down on her couch and turned on a lamp. Three pages in, she heard loud "RAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR". She jumped, then started to shake. "W-w-w-what was that?!" She squeaked out.

Fluttershy ran upstairs, then she hid under her bed. She closed her eyes and imagined something to help her calm down, but a large explosion interrupted her thoughts. She was pulled out from under her bed by a large hand, and came face to face with the source of the noise.

The pegasus almost fainted when she saw the creature. It was large, and had a hole on its chest. It had on a weird mask, and had large teeth. She tried to wiggle out of the hand, but the creature had a tight grip. She bit down hard on it's hand, and the monster lost his grip on her.

Fluttershy was falling, but her wings would not open. She was frightened, then closed her eyes. I'm going to fall and die. I need somepony to help me. The monster reached its hand out, trying to grab her. Help me! She tried to yell out as she neared the ground. Somepony, anypony! The monster's hand came closer.

"HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

A young colt appeared, and grabbed Fluttershy. He had on a black cloak, and was holding a sword. Fluttershy stared wide-eyed at him as he landed on the ground. "W-who are you?" She asked him/

"I'm Ichigo Kurosaki," He said to her as he placed her down. "Substitute Soul Reaper."

Just then, another pony in a black cloak came. She had black hair "Ichigo!"

"Rukia, Take care of her! I got the hollow!" Ichigo yelled behind his back. Rukia nodded, then picked up Fluttershy and flew away.

"Who are you?" Fluttershy asked, confused.

"I'm Rukia Kuchiki, I'm a soul reaper." She said, and then she looked at her. "Wait.. You can see me?"

Fluttershy looked confused. "Why wouldn't I be able to?" then quickly added, "And what are 'soul reapers'?" Rukia looked at Fluttershy and sighed.

"I'll explain later, right now we need to get you safe." Rukia placed Fluttershy on the roof of her cottage. "Stay here." Rukia said, then took off to help Ichigo.

Fluttershy looked in the direction of Ichigo. His sword was as long as his body, and his mane was a bright orange. "I..Ichigo.." She said, "Are you sure you're going to be all right? The monster is really big!" Ichigo looked at Fluttershy, then at the hollow. "You're right, he is pretty big." He put both hooves on his sword. "And that's why he's going down!" Ichigo charged at the hollow, then jumped at it. He sliced it down the middle, and it dissolved into the air.

Ichigo went over to Fluttershy. "Are you okay?" He asked as he helped her up. Fluttershy nodded, then said "What was that thing?" Ichigo looked at Rukia, they nodded.

"The monster you just saw is called a bad spirit, also know as a hollow. It eats souls, such as good spirits. Good spirits are the ones you normally see, also known as a 'Plus'." Rukia held up a notebook of drawings explaining. "A soul reaper's job is too purify the hollows of their sins and send them to the soul society." Rukia looked at Fluttershy. "Any questions?"

Fluttershy looked confused.

Ichigo said "Maybe she doesn't understand because of how crappy your drawings are-" Rukia hit Ichigo in the head with the notebook. "D-don't fight!" She said, "I understand perfectly!" Rukia sighed.

"I guess that explanation was wasted.." She pulled out a device.

"What's that-" A flash of light came from it, and Fluttershy fainted.

CHAPTER TWO

THE QUINCY

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Fluttershy slowly opened her eyes. "Ichigo..." She said. She then sat up, and rubbed her head. "Wow, what a weird..." She looked at the gaping hole in her wall. "Dream.." Her eyes were wide. She got out of bed and looked out of the gaping hole in her wall. "Hopefully Applejack can help fix this," She said, feeling the rough edges of the broken wood. "I wonder if Twilight knows anything about soul reapers?" She asked herself.

After breakfast, Fluttershy went over to Twilight's house. She knocked on the door. After a few seconds, Spike answered the door. "Oh Spike! Is Twilight home?" Spike nodded.

"Would you like to come in?" He asked her. Fluttershy nodded, then entered. Twilight came downstairs, "Oh, Hi Fluttershy." Twilight picked up a book from the ground and place it on the shelf."Do you need something?" Fluttershy nodded."Do you know anything about Soul Reapers?" She asked politely. Twilight dropped the book she was holding with her magic.

"Twilight? Are you okay-" Twilight walked over to Fluttershy and slapped her so hard she tumbled into a stack of books. Spike ran over to Fluttershy. "Twilight! She had just asked about them, why did you hit her?!"

Twilight, now realizing what she had done, covered her mouth in horror of what she had done. "Fluttershy, I-" Fluttershy backed away from Twilight. "Fluttershy, please-"

"Please, Don't hurt me!"

Twilight was heartbroken. She never wanted Fluttershy to say 'Don't hurt me' to her. She turned away from her friend, and said, "I hate soul reapers." Fluttershy looked at her friend. "Why? Why do you hate them?"

Twilight sighed. "Because I'm a Quincy."

Fluttershy looked at Twilight, confused. "What's a Quincy?" She asked.

"The Quincy are pony mediums, having the ability to detect the existence of Hollows. It all started when they began training to confront Hollows in order to defeat them, the same as Soul Reapers do."-She showed off her reishi bow-"Most of the Quincy were destroyed by the Soul Reapers over 200 years ago in order to prevent the destruction of the world. Quincy are the complete polar opposite of Soul Reapers."

Fluttershy nodded. "But.." She thought for a moment. "If you could of saved me last night, why didn't you?"

"Because those damn soul reapers got there first!" Twilight stamped her hoof on the ground. "When I got there, the were placing you in your bed."

"Well if it weren't for them, I would be dead." Fluttershy said quietly.

Twilight, not hearing fluttershy, shook her head. "I knew you would be involved sooner or later. Your spiritual pressure is too high." Fluttershy looked at Twilight, then bowed her head.

"I'm sorry..." She squeaked out. Twilight turned around, "DId you say something?"

"I'm sorry. I had no idea about hollows, or soul reapers, or quincys. I'm sorry I got involved, I-"

"Stop. You don't need to apologize. It's not your fault, I should've told you sooner. You're the only one I've noticed who has high spiritual pressure in Ponyville." Twilight helped Fluttershy up, "We need to get you to control that spiritual pressure of yours, it could draw more hollows to you, when I may not be able to help." She looked at her door. "I know just the person to help you with that." Fluttershy looked at the door also.

"Who can help me?" She asked. Twilight smirked.

"Kisuke Urahara." She said.
