Derped Guardian

“Is it safe now, Princess?”

“Not yet, just be patient.”

Oh, ok then. I love you”

“I love you too”

A few months earlier

Derpy bounced with excitement, almost not believing what was happening, not only being a royal guard,  but have gotten a new uniform, helmet, and her first job was to guard the princess’s doorway!  She made her way through the castle and to the changing. She got ready in a flash, and flew to her position. Another guard standing there, he had a blank stare on his face.

“Hi there, fellow guard!” Derpy said, and then stood there, waiting for a response. “Um, hello?”

He didn’t move, just stood there, not saying a word. Derpy scratched her head then saw the princesses coming, she did exactly what the other guard was doing. Derpy’s crossed eyes became straight as she saw Princess Luna walking toward her.  Gulping, Derpy stood up tall and strong, and the princesses walk into the bedroom, closing the door behind them.  All through the night, Derpy  stood there, not a word spoken, not a muscle moved, only the sound of Luna’s magic, raising the moon was heard, Princess Celestia slept, Derpy guarded, and Luna entered dreams.

The next morning, all the guards were called to a meeting. Every guard marched to the meeting room where they were given position for the rest of the day, Derpy walked to her assigned spot. And saw Princess Luna on her way to bed. Her bright teal shining, her mane not flowing, but was down, and looked much softer than usual. They both stopped, and stared at each other.

“Ex-excuse me” Luna said, as she shoved past Derpy, whose cheeks were pink.

Derpy sighed and walked to her spot, hoping she would see Luna once more, and got a chance to become her friend.
