Derped Guardian

Finally, Derpy had a day off. She wandered through the castle, and headed toward the cafeteria for some breakfast.  She got a tray off pancakes, toast, and some orange juice. She found a lone table and sat down, sighing. She dug into her pancakes and drank some orange juice.

“Hello there” said a voice

Derpy looked up and saw it was Luna, standing there, she had a tray of dinner foods, seeing as how she sleeps during the morning, it would be natural for her to be eating dinner now.

“Oh, hello princess, what brings you here?” Derpy said in a cheerful voice, her cheeks flushed

“Do you mind if I sit with you?” Luna asked

“Of course you can, take a seat”

Luna smiled and slipped into a seat next to her, and smiling warmly before taking a bite of her spaghetti. Derpy tried to keep herself from blushing, but she couldn’t, this was the first time she had ever spent time with the princess, let alone somepony important!

“Aren’t you the guard I saw in the hall yesterday?” Luna asked, trying to break the silence.

“Yes, that was me, I’m a new guard here and-“

“Congratulations, where have you guarded?”

“Oh, I guarded your bedroom, and outside the castle gates. That’s all some far.”

“Well, new guards don’t get big places until they are at the top of the chain, soon you get to protect the ancient archives, which hold scrolls from over 50,000 million years ago”

“I can’t wait!” Derpy said with a smile, before their eyes met once again, locking onto each other.  Derpy gulped. The princess looked away.

“How about you come see me, later today? We could get to know each other better. And become friends?”

Derpy’s heart skipped a beat when she said ‘And become friends’ she just nodded. Soon the princess finished her meal, and left Derpy. How as she could be, she sprang into the air, and danced in joy, only to be escorted out of the cafeteria.
