A Different Type of Love

Rainbow Dash soared through the clouds. She loved the feeling of the wind in her face, her feathers rustling from the air passing through them. The sky was so peaceful. She almost felt like she could just stay up there forever. Being a pegasus was the only way for her to live. To not be able to fly would be her worst nightmare. Basking in the peacefulness of the day, she soon began to doze off. Until, of course, a pink squealing blur shot through the cloud. “Wheee! Oh, hi Rainbow Dash! Ooooh, a cloud! Its poofy! Be right back, Dashie!”

Rainbow Dash hovered in the air, too confused for words. Something landed on her nose. It was… confetti? That could only mean one thing… “Pinkie Pie!” Before she had even finished her thought, Pinkie flew through the air (not literally flying) and slammed into Rainbow Dash’s wing, knocking her off balance and sending a jolt of pain through her wing. Then, as Pinkie Pie began to fall, Rainbow fell with her. “Pinkie!” she screamed in terror. “I can’t fly! How are we going to stop?!”
“Oh, don’t worry!” said Pinkie Pie. “I’ve got it all taken care of! I’m glad you decided to come with me, Dash! I’ve been meaning to run into you! Well, not really run into you, but you know what I mean!”

“Pinkie!” yelled Rainbow Dash, now beginning to panic. “We are falling fast! We are going to go splat!” As she said this, she saw the party cannon and a large trampoline that Pinkie had on the ground, far below her. The panic rising in her subsided and she let her muscles relax. When she hit the stretchy black surface, she had expected to bounce. Instead, her body went straight through the trampoline and hit the ground hard.

She felt like she had broken every bone in her body. Her face contorted as the excruciating pain gripped her before she mercifully blacked out.

She woke up to the sound of beeping. Her eyes slowly opened, before shutting defensively against the bright light. She felt something in her throat, and realized that it was a plastic tube. She tried to talk, but her mouth was covered by pristine, white bandages. She made a feeble attempt to move and felt rather than saw that her body was in a complete cast.

“Don’t try to move, Dash! You kind of took a hard fall.” She heard Pinkie Pie’s voice somewhere to her left. She opened her eyes again to find that the light was not nearly as bright as she had first thought. She managed to turn her head to the side a bit, grimacing as the pain hit her. She was in a hospital room. Everything was white. White walls, white, beds, white tables, white curtains, and white sheets. The room had only two beds in it. In the bed next to her lay Pinkie Pie, who didn’t look as if there was anything wrong with her except a bandage around her head, a sure sign of a concussion.

“I’m so glad you’re finally awake, Dashie! It was getting boring in here with nopony to talk to!”

“Mmmffh! Mmf mhf hmffm mfmmmm!”

“Oh, hang on; let me take that bandage off for you!” Pinkie hopped out of her bed and slid the bandage off Rainbow Dash’s mouth, allowing her to talk. Rainbow gasped in a breath of the clean, sterile air.

“Pinkie?” she asked. “What happened?”

“Well, you broke my trampoline, which I should really be mad about, but I’m not because you broke my fall and stopped me from getting hurt as badly as… well, you. But then again, I am the one who knocked you out of the sky in the first place.” Suddenly, a worried look crossed her face. “Ohmygosh! You’re not mad at me, are you Dash? You are! I can tell! Pleeeaaase don’t be mad at me! I’m so so so so sorry for making you get hurt! Forgive me?”

Rainbow Dash looked at Pinkie’s huge eyes, and she knew that she couldn’t be mad at the pink mare. “Sure Pinkie.” she said “I’ll forgive you.”

“Whew!” Pinkie let out the breath she had been holding and visibly relaxed. “But it’s still my fault that you got hurt! To make it up to you, I'm going to take care of you until you get better!”

“Pinkie, that’s really not necessary…”

“Yes! It is! I’m going to make it all up to you, Dash! I promise! Until you are well enough to fly, I'm going to nurse you back to health!” A look of steely determination appeared on her face.

“Fiiine.” sighed Rainbow Dash. “As long as this isn’t like Applejack and Spike’s dragon code thing.”

“Don’t worry!” said Pinkie Pie. “I’m not going to be in your debt for the rest of my life!”

“Good. I can’t imagine having to deal with that.” Just then, the doctor walked in.

“Alright, Miss Dash. I'm glad you’re awake. This means we can finish up our tests. However, when we let you leave, I don’t want you living alone just yet. You broke so many bones, there isn’t much you can do by yourself at this point.” He looked over his glasses at Rainbow Dash. “Is there anypony you can stay with that will take care of you until you’re better?”

“I think I might know somepony who would be willing.” said Rainbow as she smiled to herself and glanced at Pinkie, who was bouncing around the room. "But should'nt I stay here for a while to heal before I leave?"

"No." replied the doctor. "We already have you in a cast. The pain you feel is just stiffness. There is really nothing more we can do for you until your bones heal. And as for you, Miss Pie," He turned towards Pinkie, trying to follow her with his eyes.

“Not Miss Pie.” interrupted Pinkie. “Just Pinkie!”

“Okay.” said the doctor, looking slightly confused. “Miss Pinkie then. I want you to-“

“Not Miss Pinkie either! Just Pinkie.”

“Okay!” replied the doctor, now becoming frustrated. “Pinkie, I want you to get back in your bed right now! You’ve had a concussion, and bouncing around like that isn’t helping you!” Pinkie stopped bouncing.

The doctor walked out as two nurses walked in. They wheeled Rainbow Dash to a dark room with a long white tube in the wall. They put her in the tube, which made an odd humming noise for a little while until the nurses came back and pulled her out. They took her temperature and blood pressure, then gently placed her in her wheelchair. She was then wheeled through the halls to her room, where the doctor was waiting.

“Miss Dash, your test results have come back normal. I'm happy to report that there is no permanent damage. As I said before, you just need to be taken care of until you get better. Miss Pie- I mean, Pinkie has agreed to do that.” Pinkie Pie grinned and winked at Rainbow Dash. The doctor continued. “This means that we can remove a few parts of your cast and then release you. However, I want to see you back here in one week."

The nurse grabbed Rainbow Dash’s wheelchair and pushed her from the room again. They then took a strange vibrating saw and cut off the cast around her head. By the time they had finished, she could still hear the buzzing in her ears and her entire face was tingling. She was pushed back to her room, where Pinkie Pie had just got the bandage removed from her head.

“Alllrighty! Are you ready to go, Dash?”

“Yep.” replied Rainbow. “Let’s go see where I’m going to be staying for the next few months!”
As Pinkie pushed her along the streets to the bakery, Rainbow Dash felt all the townsponies staring at her, it made her uncomfortable. “I would rather be stared at because I'm doing awesome tricks in the sky.” she thought. “Not because I'm in a wheelchair and a full body cast.”

She was relieved when they arrived at Sugarcube Corner. Pinkie rolled her inside and parked the wheelchair in the corner.

“I’ll be right back.” said Pinkie. “I just want to go make sure our room is ready.” She walked into the back of the shop. A few seconds later, she was back. “Allrighty!” she said cheerfully. ”We’re good to go. Come and see where you’re gonna be staying for the next few months! Oh wait, you can’t come by yourself.” She grabbed the wheelchair and pushed it into the back room. Rainbow Dash sighed. It was going to be a long few months.

Author's Note

This chapter sort of implies a romance between the two but is just ment to start off the story. In later chapters, I'm planning to add a little bit of clop material, but not much. This is mostly just going to be funny. Also, i have never seen a Pinkie/Dash fic before, so i just decided to write one. I'm honestly not sure how this is going to turn out. So be warned! ;D
