Chapter 1: Her Perspective

He was cute, smart, funny, everything a mare looks for in a stallion. You see, I'm no like those other mares where the colt's gotta ask the mare out first. No I'm special, If I see something I want, then I take it, and this pony was no different. We were walking to a restaurant and...wait...let's go back. I'd been following him into a library. He was with two other ponies, both with the strangest looking mo-hawks. He had a blue coat and a white mane, with a musicians cutie-mark. I trotted over to him, my anxiety increasing with every step. By the time I reached him I was sure he was gonna say 'no', but I asked anyway.
"Hey, uh, are you busy this Friday?" I started nervously shuffling my hooves. He stopped talking to the other two ponies and turned to face me. The other two ponies bro-hooved.
"Friday? That's tomorrow. Yea I'm free. Why?" He asked as if it wasn't obvious.
"I, uh, was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me?" He looked over his back to the other two ponies, and I think I saw him wink. Then he looked back at me. "Go on a date, with a pretty mare like yourself? Of course I would."
"Cool," I said. "Meet me at 2500 White Owl Dr. Apartment number 32. It's here in Ponyville. Come pick me up at 7-o'-clock, OK?" He shook his head yes. "Yea, uh, we gotta go, but I'll meet you at the address tomorrow." He and his friends turned to leave. "Bye, thank you!" I said, immediately regretting it. "Thank you? Don't sound desperate." I thought. I was so relieved and excited. I actually had a date on Friday! I left the building and headed over to my apartment.

By the time I made it to my apartment, I had already gone through my entire wardrobe in my head and realized that I had no decent attire to wear, at least not for a date. "I guess I need to buy something. Well I could always head to Rarity's." I thought to myself. "But shit, it's 4:00 and her boutique closes at 5:00! I better hurry!" I turned and galloped down the road taking lefts and rights. I galloped down sidewalks and finally made it to downtown Ponyville. I kept moving until I saw it: Rarity's boutique. I looked down at my watch. It was 4:50. "Damn it's late, I hope she'll still be open." I said out loud. I quickly cantered over to the building and when I get there, I see a 'Sorry, We're Closed' sign on the door, yet the lights are on in the window. I look in the windows but all I can see are maniquins of ponies in different dresses. I knocked on the door.
"Hello, is anypony there?" I hear something shout "Hold on" and then clicking and the moving of metal objects behind the door and when it does open, I am greeted by the most beautiful, ravishing, and illustrious mare.
"Yes darling, is there anything I can help you with?"
"Y-yes, c-can I b-buy a dr-dress?" I stammer, stunned by her.
"Relax darling, you stutter more than dear Fluttershy. I'm afraid to say the store is closed. We will, however, be open tomorrow." I look down, dissapointed. "Oh but you see, it's for a special date, and it's just that, well I haven't been on a date in a long time..." I said, trailing off. I turned away, heading home.
"Wait dearie, I can take this one small request, after all you did say it was a special date." Rarity says, smiling. I rush up to her and hug her. "Oh thank you, thank you!" We both walk into the shop.
"So what is it that you're looking for?" She asks, her horn glowing as she uses her magic to pull back a curtain, revealing tons of maniquins all dressed in fancy dress attire.
"Uh, something that's casual, yet still fancy. I-if that makes sense." I say, picturing in my head the perfect casual dress.
"I think I have just the thing." She says and goes in the back closet. When she comes out she has a green dress levitating in the air. "A bit frilly, but beautiful nonetheless." I think. "It's cotton, so I hope that's OK with you. But if it's not I got some silk ones." She says, moving to me. "No," I gasp. "It's perfect!"
"Then here darling, try it on." Rarity says as she gives me the dress and pulls a curtain around me. I try it on and am surprised by how smooth it feels. "I love it." I thought. I undress and fold the dress, then I open the curtain and trot over to Rarity, who is over at the cash register. "How much?" I ask, getting out my wallet.
"Well it's usually 50 bits, but for you, I'll charge 25." I gasp and hand her my credit card. She takes it and slides it through the machine. "Thank you SO much." I say, taking my credit card when she hands it to me. She grabs a box and places my dress in it. She hands me the box and I put it on my back and head out the door. "Thanks again, goodbye!" I shout
"Yes goodbye, have a fun time on your date dear!" She shouts back. I gallop all the way back to my apartment. By the time I get there it's 6:00. I open the door and trot in, turning on the lights. I move to the T.V. and turn it on. I watch the latest episode of 'Freaks & Geeks' and then I make myself supper. After supper, I head to bed, anticipating tomorrow's date.

I get dressed in my new dress and apply eyeliner and eye shadow. I grab my wallet 'just in case' and check my watch. 7:05. That's when I hear a knock at the door. I open it and there he is, ear-buds in his ears. He takes them out and smiles. "Here I am." I giggle. He laughs. "I know this awesome restaurant. And after that we can go to the park and after that-" He begins, when I put a hoof to his mouth, hushing him. "Don't spoil all the fun. Let's go." We exit the apartment and head down the stairs, leaving the apartment complex. We begin talking and I find out his name is Starshine. I tell him mine, Pentel. I also find out he's the lead singer in a band. "Ooh that's cool. DO you have some of your music on your MP3-Player?" I ask, intrigued.
"Yea, here listen to this song, it's my favorite." He hands me his MP3 and I listen to what's playing. It sounded like a mixture between Rage Against Celestia and The Zz. I handed back his stuff. We kept wandering the streets, slowly making our way to the destination. While we wandered, we kept talking and the more we talked, the more I learned about him. Those two ponies I saw with him yesterday were his band members. He also told me he and his other band members had made a bet, but he wouldn't tell me what It was. I guessed it was private, or embarrassing, and didn't question him further. We finally make our way down the gravel road and find the restaurant. There are a few wooden carts surrounding the building and a long line of ponies standing outside the front door. I begin to worry and Starshine notices and says: "Don't worry, I made a reservation." We walk past everypony and I can feel them all looking at me, glaring. We open the door and find a waiter. "Howdy folks," He says, his Appleloosian accent painfully obvious. "I'm sorry but y'all can't just cut everypony like that, unless y'all got a reservation." Starshine smiles. "We do, Starshine, 8-o'-clock, table for two." The waiter shakes his head.
"I'm sorry, but we cancelled that yesterday. Didn't y'all get the call?" Starshine's face sinks in dissapointment.
"Oh dang, I never got a call. OK then, let's go Pentel." We canter away slowly. "Hey I'm sorry Pentel. I was hoping to have a fancy dinner as our first date but I guess we can't. We can try another restaurant but this place is the best and..." He begins, trailing off. I place a hoof under his chin and lift his head.
"It's cool, we can still go to the park like you mentioned earlier." I said. He suddenly stomps his hooves in joy.
"I have an idea, why don't we go to my place and I make us dinner. Unless that's, uh, too straightforward for you." I blush and shake my head. "No, no, that's fine." He grabs me and drags me away all the while listing off the various meals he could make for us.

When we arrive at his house, I'm stunned by how run down it looks. I look to my left at Starshine and wonder how he can look so good yet have a home that's so shitty looking. But when he opens the door and we step inside, it looks amazing. The walls all painted green, the ceiling painted blue in contrast. He bounds down a hallway and I follow him into a kitchen. "Hey why don't you wait out in the living room on the couch. I'll go get you a drink." I trot back down the hallway and see the couch. I lay down on it and get comfy and wait. When Starshine comes back he's carrying a platter with two glasses of water. He hands me my glass and I take a sip. I notice that he downs the entire glass so I take another sip so that he doesn't think I'm picky. We start talking and he tells me more about his band and about the success of their first album. I giggle and tell him about my job as a nurse. "Wow a nurse huh? That's cool." He says. I nod my head.
"Yea, I work at a nursing home. By the way, what are we having for dinner?" I ask eagerly.
"Just some pasta with a side of salad. I hope that's OK with you." He says.
"Damn he can cook too?! KEEPER!" I thought.
"Here, let me go back in the kitchen and prepare our meal. It might take a while so get comfy. I apologize, I thought the restaurant could take us." He says, getting up and heading to the kitchen. I lie back on the couch and relax. I close my eyes and then I feel a dripping on my head and back, like it's raining on me. I open my eyes and look up and see that the ceiling is melting. I get up off the couch and wobble, falling to the floor, my hooves losing traction. I look up again and see Starshine, yet he's smirking. He offers a hoof and to pull me and I reach for it, but then he pulls his hoof away and I stumble again.
"It looks like it's taking effect." He says.
"What's taking effect? Don't tell me you-" I ask, the room spinning.
"Don't worry, I'm just about to win a bet." He says, and with that I collapse, unconscious.
