Shortly after her coronation, Princess Twilight meets a pony named Hatless. He wants help getting home, but Twilight isn't sure she can trust him.

After Twilight becomes a princess, she encounters this pony–Hatless. He wants to get home, but due to magic blocking his way, he cannot. Therefore, he came to Twilight for help. A mysterious and illogical past is revealed, and the freshly-coronated princess finds it difficult to trust him. Thus begins the search for answers.
