Big Macintosh has always been a simple stallion. Though a pony of few words, he is kind, noble, dedicated to his family, and a hard worker. Recent events in Ponyville, however, have turned his life upside-down.

On a trip to deliver a cart full of apples to Fillydelphia, there is an accident, and Big Macintosh gets caught in the wreckage. Lying victim to a massive rock-slide, and miles away from any civilization, he has nothing left to do but reflect upon the tragedies that befell upon him, his family, and his friends. There is something haunting him, however, that is much darker than his memories. Lying lame and injured, he is helpless against this mysterious stalker that hides in the shadows.

He begins to understand; there are some things far worse than death.
