Doctor Whooves and the Unexpected Visitor
Chapter 1

The moon shone high in the sky, illuminating the ground in its blue glow. It was a relatively clear night, except for a few small clouds that still lingered from the storm. The forest floor seemed to be completely barren of life, while in the tree owls sat, staring at the ground, waiting for some kind of movement that would signal a chance at dinner.
The silence was broken by a slow, but growing 'Vworrrp Vworrrp' noise. Most of the birds that had been nesting in the nearby trees took flight, echoing their cries throughout the quiet forest. A small light illuminated the ground, as a blue box slowly began to materialized beneath it. The light turned off, only to be replaced by the glow from the box's windows; it bathed the surrounding area in a yellow glow. The box’s doors suddenly flew open, and a Chestnut Stallion ran outside.
"That's not right; this isn't Thala," he said, turning back around and running into the box. He reappeared seconds later holding a device in his left hoof, pointing it at the ground; the device produced a high pitched ‘hum’ and illuminated the nearby ground in a green glow.
"Doctor? Where are we now?" yelled a female voice from inside the blue box.
"Well I have good news and bad news Ditzy," said the doctor, looking back thru the doors. A grey pegasus walked out of the box and looked around; she had a bright yellow mane and eyes that looked to be rimmed by gold.
"Well?" she said impatiently. The Doctor couldn't help but smile at her wall eyed stare.
"Well, the bad news is that I can't show you the crystal ocean that covers half of Thala, but the good news is that the TARDIS has decided to bring us back to Equestria. Hmm, not bad timing either; seems we are back about 2 hours after we left," he announced, smelling the air.
"I guess the TARIDS is letting us know she needs a break?" Ditzy said as she looked at the box.
"Yep I guess you can head home tonight and sleep in your bed for once, while I do some last minute checks on the TARDIS before I go to sleep myself." He said, turning around and walking into the TARDIS, past Ditzy.
Ditzy looked out into the forest before turning and walking into the TARDIS herself; she was happy to be home but was afraid to walk home alone at this time of night, especially if it meant walking through the Everfree Forest. "Um...Doctor? Could you walk with me back to town?" she said, looking at him forcing both her eyes to stay locked on him.
"I guess I could spare a few minutes before I start work. Sure lets go, I need to stop by the Library and let Twilight know we’re back anyway," he said running out of the TARDIS doors, followed closely by Ditzy. She couldn't help but smile as she thought about how much the Doctor acted like Pinkie Pie sometimes, always running off and getting into trouble, and never staying in one place for too long.
She followed the Doctor as he ran down the path through the forest. "Come on Ditzy, try and keep up," the Doctor said, smiling over his shoulder. He stopped suddenly, causing Ditzy to slam into him, which sent them both flying through the air and into a nearby bush.
"Ow... Doctor what happened? Why did you stop?" Ditzy said before she climbed out of the bush. Her eyes had inverted again, but she was too busy checking her wings to fix them at that moment.
"Yeah... Sorry I got distracted," he murmured while looking up into the sky in the direction of Ponyville. He climbed out of the bush and walked over to Ditzy, still looking at the sky. "This isn't good," He said under his breath before he started walking again.
"What isn't good?" she said as she ran up beside him, trying to read his face. She knew she wouldn't see anything, since the Doctor rarely showed emotion when something bad was about to happen, but she couldn't help but try.
"Hmm? Don't worry, it was just something I thought I saw; it was probably Rainbow Dash testing out one of her stunts." He said it with a smile, but Ditzy could tell by his eyes that something was wrong; those deep blue and extremely sad looking eyes. She decided not to push the subject anymore, since he would just deny everything. She knew that he was only trying to protect her, however she couldn't help but feel like he was treating her like a filly.
They both continued walking in silence, until the glow from Ponyville shone through the trees. Ditzy had always loved to sit up on the hills near Sweet Apple Acres and look down on the town as everypony started going to bed; all the lights slowly turning off one by one. Her eyes lit up when she saw her house, sitting just on the other side of the river that ran through town. She quickly ran up to the front door and opened it before stepping inside to turn on the lights.
The Doctor watched her go inside the house and smiled. He couldn't stop himself from glancing towards town every few seconds, when he knew she wasn't watching him. He had no need to worry her about something that could be just a false alarm.
"Doctor do you want to come inside for some muffins?" she was standing in the doorway now, looking at him.
"Sorry Ditzy I can't, I have to get to Twilight's library before it closes and she goes to bed."
Even before he finished talking, he had stood up and started to run off towards town. Ditzy frowned and lowered her head before walking back inside and shutting the door. She wished more than anything that he would stay, but knew once he had his mind set on something there was no stopping him. She let out a sigh and sat down at her kitchen table, before grabbing a muffin. She hadn't realized how hungry she was until the smell of her kitchen reached her nose. Her mouth watered as she carried the muffin into the living room and sat down on the couch. She quickly ate the muffin before yawning a couple times. "Muffins are always better before bedtime" she murmured through a yawn.
She laid her head down on the side of the couch before drifting off to sleep, still facing the door just in case he decided to come back.
