Champions
Discovery
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was another, ordinary afternoon in Ponyville, Equestria. Ponies roamed about, conducting their everyday business. The fillies and colts ran home from school to play with friends, while the adults were cooking dinner for them, or just relaxing. This is a gentle land, but has seen it's fare share of dangers, which will be delved into later.
In this town, there is a tree house. In it lived a librarian. Her name; Twilight Sparkle. She is a unicorn, able to manipulate the forces of magic around her, as all unicorns in this world can do. On this particular afternoon, she was practicing a new spell. One that would bring forth an object from another world.
"Ooooh, I can't wait to try this out. Aren't you excited Spike?" said Twilight. In front of her, a book surrounded by purple light was levitating at the angle of being able to read it. She looked at the small purple and green dragon beside her, who yawned and began to speak.
"It does sound interesting, but I'm tired. Can't we just do this tomorrow?" he asked. Twilight got a look of annoyance.
"No way. This is a very specific spell. I might forget it by tomorrow, and I don't want to take any chances. I mean, bringing something here, from another world? It's going to be amazing, but let's go outside for this." Spike rolled his eyes and opened the door for Twilight. They both walked outside and to the border of the Everfree Forest.
"This should be far enough." Twilight said as she set down the book. Her horn began to glow with purple aura. She leaned forward and strained audibly. Seconds went by, and Spike began to get concerned.
"Twilight be careful. You're gonna hurt yourself." She let out a breath and hung her head.
"I guess it won't wor-AHHHHHH!" Out of nowhere, a large beam of purple light emanated from Twlight's horn and into the ground. She was pushed back, but was able to hold her ground. Spike was shocked, and couldn't do anything but stand there. As suddenly as it came, the light simply disappeared.
"Are you OK Twilight?" Spike could finally talk again, but the unicorn said nothing. She stood there, breathing, her mane now unkempt and draping over her eyes. She looked up at him after a minute or two.
"Whew. Yeah I'm fine. I'm not sure what happened there, maybe it was a side effect of the spell." Again, something happened. The world started to rumble and a large portal burst out of the ground. It was a circular portal, mainly purple, with white stone on the outside. Purple sparks could occasionally be seen coming off of it. Spike and Twilight looked at the newly arisen portal, and then at each other with looks of worry, excitement, and fear.
The refreshing, warm air of Cyrodiil was doing it's job. The people in the town of Skingrad were happy and working, as they should be. Our champion, who lived in Rosethorn Hall, was getting ready to go back out to sell some of his findings from his adventure earlier that morning. He put on his burgundy shirt and linens and walked outside.
He was greeted by the bright sun, clean air, and a slight breeze. The champion was taking a deep breath when he heard a loud boom to his left that nearly knocked him over. Right outside Skingrad, a large purple light was coming down from the sky. He stood there while the guards and a few citizens rushed out to see what was going on. One of the shopkeepers ran back inside screaming nonsense. He ran by our champion shouting something he would never forget.
"OBLIVION GATE, THE DAEDRA ARE BACK, MARA PRESERVE US!" The champion's eyes went wide as his heart nearly stopped. It's been two years since Mehrunes Dagon was vanquished, so he had to see this for himself. The champion turned around and went back inside. He ran to his bedroom and opened the chest at the foot of his bed, revealing a set of gold and black armor. It was the Imperial Dragon Armor.
After the Oblivion Crisis, the champion was forged a set of armor. It offered protection from every element and was nearly unbreakable. He hasn't worn the armor in two years. but he knew that now was the time. He grabbed his two favorite weapons, Umbra and Goldbrand. Umbra is the soul sword, because when an opponent dies, their soul is taken. Goldbrand is a sword made by the daedric prince, Boethiah. He also grabbed a few potions and ingredients just in case. Stuffing everything in his bag of holding, the champion ran out of the door and eventually out of Skingrad.
A loud ringing was emitting from the large portal not but fifty feet from Skingrad gate. The portal was a different color than it usually is, but it's still horrifying to look at it. Thoughts of death, corpses, and the flaming, bloody, plane of Oblivion raced through the champion's mind, but he just brushed it off. The guards stood near the portal, staring at the champion.
"You may go back to your posts guards, I've done this more times than I'd like to say."
"You.... Y-you're the c-c-hampion of-" the guard stuttered.
"Yes, yes. The champion of Cyrodiil. Now get out of here. I can take care of this."
The guards all nodded and ran back into Skingrad. The champion looked to make sure they were gone, then pulled out both of his swords. He raised them high and charged at the gate.
"FOR CYRODIIL!" He shouted as he plunged himself into the portal.

(Wipes off metaphorical sweat) All done for now. If the story ends up somewhat successful, I will be doing another chapter for sure.
