Innocence
Coming Together
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAs I sat in the car, waiting for my beautiful mare to show any signs of life, my brain started to wander. It brought memories back to me of how things all began between the two of us. In fact, things actually all began quite a few years ago.
I had just graduated Ponyville High School alongside my best friend, Thunderlane. I had my gotten my cutie mark a few years prior, and things were really starting to look up. My cutie mark is two pairs of eighth notes, representing my musical abilities. I got it in high school when I discovered my talent for singing and guitar. Thunderlane also had a talent for guitar, but to be a famous musician was not one of his goals in life. He had always wanted to become one of the Wonderbolts, but I always will respect him for sticking by my side and playing music with me.
The two of us formed a musical duo, and we had gained some popularity in town, but we were still nameless and only had a few songs in the alternative rock genre. We realised quickly that we would be going nowhere if we didn't find a drummer, as well as somepony else who could play along with us, specifically on the bass guitar or the keyboard. However, they didn't come until after our first show.
We played our first show at The Hub, a bar in Ponyville, in front of about a hundred ponies. It was just myself and Thunderlane, but we jammed well together and got our fellow Ponyvillians to give us a loud round of applause at the end. After the show, when we were putting our instruments away, we were approached by Time Turner and Pine Breeze. We were previously acquainted with these two stallions, being from the same town and around the same age, but we were never really that close. However, they were interested in joining our band. Time Turner, who was an aspiring doctor in Ponyville, played drums, and Pine Breeze, a landscaper, played both bass guitar and the keyboard. They were exactly the kind of ponies we were looking for, and thus The Stallions band was born.
We went on a small tour in a few towns around Equestria upon the release of our first album. We played in pubs and bars in Ponyville, Manehatten, Canterlot, Fillydelphia, Baltimare, and Vanhoover. It was overall a very successful tour, as we played extremely well and energetic, gaining popularity at every stop we made. However, something was still missing, and Thunderlane and I knew that fact. We were just a small indie band, and nothing more. The bars were fun to play in, but we wanted to be more than just that. We wanted to be special. We needed something about us set us aside from all of the other small bands. If it was a specific sound, instrument, or style, I wasn't sure at the time, but I would end up finding that special something not too far down the road.
