The Loss of Happiness

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The last remaining rays of energy flowed along the bright white lines, and sunk back into the Earth's poles. Within seconds, green waves of light shone through the night side of the Earth.

"It's too bad...." , I said to myself. ".....The creator of the these beautiful auroras is also a mass murderer......"

I opened my wings and took off rather quickly into the cold darkness of space. It wasn't long until I reached the Earth, the daytime side showing my beautiful blue atmosphere. I did a curve in and started my vertical dive. From a distance in the Pacific ocean, I glanced at the area of low pressure I created earlier. My eyes widened at the result of what I had created.

"....Oh.......my.....god......" , I said in disbelief.

The storm looked motionless, just a huge swirl of clouds, floating over where New Mareland was supposed to be located. Those people down there never needed a storm warning system because they had not had a typhoon in over 200 years, and that was when there were only a few hundred people there. Now, they have millions of people there, and the storm came out of nowhere, and they didn't even have fifteen minutes to................prepare.

I was on the verge of tears. I even had to close my eyes because I was flying so fast, the tears forced its way back into my eyes because the was no air resistance in outer space. I shook my head and blinked a couple times, trying to hold them back. All I wanted to do at that moment was to fly down there and rip the storm apart. I had the power to do it. It's rather simple, but that would result in a mass chain reaction as far as water displacement. Ripping a storm in half is worse than creating one. The air would be displaced everywhere, covering possibly over 3,340 miles of sky with unsettled weather patterns, causing multiple storms to pop-up.

But there was nothing I could do, but guide the storm to where the air flow of the planetary winds were until it would find cold air and die out. I turned my head and closed my eyes, tears flew from my eyes and slowly floated off into the everlasting darkness of outer space. I was angry and sad at the same time. I didn't know what to do.

I was helpless.

I yelled in frustration as I lowered my angle of flight. I wasn't flying at an angle, I was flying straight down. I could feel the wind return to my face as I entered the thermosphere. I felt my body quickly warm up, and before I knew, my body exploded into a fireball.

I didn't care. It didn't burn my coat, or my mane and tail. I was invincible, but yet, useless when it came eliminating storms that I created. I clenched my teeth in anger as I pulled my arms to the side and plummeted into the stratosphere. I wasn't even aware of where I was going. I didn't care. All I wanted to do was cry, but I couldn't. My tears were being vaporized because I was still on fire.

Of all the devastating storms I've created that affected the ponies within the past 100 years; The Tornado Super Outbreak of 1974, Hurricane Sunset Shimmer of 1999, The Maressissippi Tornado of 2001, The Supertyphoon of 2004 in Prance, The Appleloosa Tornado of 2011, The Superstorm of 2012 in Manehattan. All of those storms had no effect on me whatsoever. I mourned for the lives I've taken, but it was my duty to create these storms, and let them loose. It was always the way of my atmosphere.

But this one..............this one stabbed me in the heart.

This storm that I've created, made me realized why I was feared for thousands of years, decade after decade, generation after generation. This was the reason why I was alone. I'm the one in charge of these monsters in the air. It was like a wake up call to me. I've killed thousands of ponies for years, and now I'm being treated like a normal pony, innocent of the murders I had caused?!? Do they even realize who they're being friends with?!?! How can they be so calm when all I really am is a monster?!?!?!?

All of a sudden, the fire disappeared from my body. I still didn't open my eyes, for I knew that I had penetrated the troposphere. I heard the loud sound of a jet engine around me. I opened my eyes to look around, but there was nothing in front of me. I then turned my hear to look back. There was a wide, circular cloud engulfing half of my body.

I was breaking the sound barrier. I looked back in front of me and saw the vast blue ocean, approaching fast.

That was the perfect place. An area where I can let out all of my anger, frustration, and sadness. But mainly, it was my anger that I needed to get rid off. It was like, my very own purge. Yes..........the ocean was a perfect place.

I closed my eyes and allowed all of my thoughts of all the storms that I had created that killed so many ponies. The sound of my body breaking the sound barrier became louder with every second. With tears ripping away from my face, I closed my eyes and flew down vertically as hard as I could, remembering every devastating storm I had created since I was born.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" , I screamed at the top of my lungs in anger, but it came out in a loud roar.

BOOOOOM!!!!!

I could feel the water slap my face as I finally made contact with the ocean. Almost instantly, I felt my speed slow down to just a cruise. But something felt weird. I.......wasn't......wet.

I screeched to a halt and let out a deep breath of relief. That was exactly what I needed. I should've thought of this a long time ago. However, that feeling of being mostly dry bugged me. I heard the roaring of the ocean as if the splash I made had no end. I slowly opened my eyes.

My heart skipped a beat for a second.

"......Oh.........my......." .

I was floating in the middle of what seemed to be, a huge water crater.

The walls of the crater had to be at least two thousand feet in depth. I looked around and saw the sky above me.

I had just blew a hole in the ocean.

My mouth hung open as I stared at the water walls of the crater.

"Whoa........." , I managed to whisper out.

Before I had time to register what I just did, I heard a roaring noise from beneath me.

I looked down.

The vast area of water at the bottom of the crater began to rose, white foam covering most of its surface.

The water was returning to it's natural surface state........and I was in the middle of its path.

"Sh*t!!" , I yelled.

I flew up and charged towards the sky again. I looked back behind me. The water was literally roaring at me, threatening to engulf me in its jaws. I flapped my wings as hard as I could. The sound of the water was getting louder and louder.

"Come on!!!!" , I yelled to myself as I flapped my wings to the point of exhaustion.

I saw the edge rim of the water crater near. I was almost there.......but the walls of the crater began to close.

"NOOO!!!!" , I screamed.

With one last ounce of energy, I flapped my wings down and shot out of the top rim of the water crater. After climbing a few hundred feet into the air, I slowed to a stop.

I let out a deep breath of relief.

"Just in ti-...." .

My statement was cut off as a huge wall of mist, engulfed me from below.

I jumped and felt my body fly upwards, except I wasn't even trying to fly.

The mist was pushing me. I summoned my energy as slowed myself down until I was in the shroud of mist. I knew why that happened. The walls of the water crater must have closed with the area of water from the bottom being squeezed and narrowed up into a tunnel. Once the area of water rose to normal surface, the water shot out of the tunnel like an underwater volcano, spraying upwards into the sky.

I was rather amused by the sudden burst of water below as the crater disappeared and the water resumed to normal height, however, I still felt depressed. The thought of me killing ponies with my weather patterns had never been more clear and fresh in my mind as it was now. The water from the burst was still shooting in the air, engulfing me in its powerful upward force.

I opened my arms and tilted my head back as I floated there, letting the water rush from below me and upwards. It felt......relaxing. Cold, definitely salty, but it felt........nice.

I floated there for about five minutes and then decided it was about time to go home. I turned and flew horizontally out of the roaring water spout. As I felt the sun rays dry me off instantly, I looked behind me.

The spout was huge. Way bigger than I had imagined. The top reached at least 28,000 feet into the sky.

I continued to look back and stare at the spectacle. The mist mimicked the form of ash clouds from a volcano, except it was just water and mist instead.

"....I........did that.....?" , I asked myself, dumbfounded.

I took one last look at the shooting spout of water. Then I turned my head forward and with a single, broad flap of my wings, I zoomed across the sky in a dark blue blur. As I flew, I looked below me. The ocean seemed to have swelled and rose closer to my flying altitude a little, or was I flying a little too close to the water. I was flying only 140 feet from the water surface. Then all of a sudden, the height of the water dropped back down to normal.

Must have been my imagination. I was tired, and it had been a long, rough day.

I zoomed fast and freely towards the coastline as I approached the shore line of Fillydelphia. I looked in front of me and saw large cumulonimbus clouds forming not too far behind.

"Must be another cold front. In fact, it's probably the cold front I yanked from Ponyville earlier." , I thought.

I was probably right. Fillydelphia and Manehattan was not supposed to be expecting a storm for the next three days.

I thought back to that day where I was furiously pulling in the cold front at The Everfree Forest.

.............and then being yanked out of nowhere by Pinkamena's tentacles.

Pinkamena. Pinkamena. Pinkamena Diane Pie.

A wave of sadness channeled through my body once again as I thought about her. She was the only pony who wanted my attention, who helped me make amends with the citizens of Ponyville, and the first pony who ever loved me.

But how could she?

She had to be aware that I am the creator of the atmosphere, that every storm I've created and controlled, had killed somepony around the world.

Everytime.

Everyday.

Anger began to build inside of me again. She's hiding something from me. I know she is. I don't care what type of pony she is. Everpony knows what I've done. They only wanted to be my friend so I wouldn't kill them!!! Lies!! They all lied to me!!! Applauding after I gave my story about how I froze half the damn planet on accident!!! Bullshit!!! They probably think I did it on purpose!!! But they wouldn't dare say it to my face!!! Unbelievable!!! Why isn't Daymare Sun setting them straight?!? That I am a murderer!!! Why hasn't Daymare Sun locked me up?!?! I'm killing ponies with natural disasters as we speak!!! WHY IS SHE EVEN AFRAID OF ME!!!???!??!?!?

I flew so fast through the squall line of thunderstorms ahead of me, that I punched a hole clean through the clouds.

I soon landed hard in front of the main shopping district of Ponyville, creating a small crater in the road. Everpony looked and saw me. They were silent, faces written with lies, deception, false feelings for one another. My anger grew violently inside of me. I gritted my teeth together. Their faces were full of fear at my appearance. I was living it.

"What are you looking at?!?!" , I yelled through my teeth as my lifeless, angry eyes glared at them.

They flinched and bowed, every single one of them. I didn't care. To be honest, they should bow to me. I killed countless ponies, and all they could do is just pretend to be my friend. They should be scared.

I literally growled at them as they stood back to let me walk through. I didn't want the useless attention.

I summoned my power and apparated violently into thin air, destroying a few market stands from the blast of energy.

I appeared right in front of Sugarcube corner.

Pinkamena. The one who started this. The one who pretended she loved me so she could be in the clear from my wrath. She used me. She used me for her own guaranteed saftey.

I used my telekinesis and ripped the door off its hinges. The door shattered into pieces off into the street nearby. I stomped my way into the bakery shop, leaving holes in her wooden floor. I furiously looked around. She wasn't here. I continued to march my way behind the counter and up the stairs. I rounded my way around the corner and found Pinkamena's room. I ripped the door open with my telekinesis. Pinkamena jumped from her couch.

"Aurora!!! You scared me!! Whoa.....you don't look so good. How was your da-....."

"Shut it, Pinkamena Diane Pie." , I hissed.

She flinched back as she sensed the hatred in my voice. She walked over to me.

"What happened Borry.....? You don't look so happy...?" , she asked in concern.

I turned and glared at her with my snake eyes. She jumped back a little.

"Don't. Ever. Call me that again." , I warned her.

Her frowned became more clearer on her face as her ears drooped.

"But you said it was ok when I called you th-...."

"I SAID SHUT IT!!!!!" .

Black tentacles shot out from my back. Pinkamena fell on her haunches in shock. I lunged one tentacle and wrapped it around her neck, lifting her off the floor.

I slammed her against the wall. A couple pictures fell off the wall, shattering as it made contact with the ground.

I held her up against the wall with one of my tentacles wrapped around her neck. She put her hooves up to her neck, trying to pull it off. That only egged me on. I tightened the tentacle around her neck. She wildly kicked her legs, struggling under my grip. I could hear her struggling gasps for air. I walked closer to her and brought her down to my eye level, still choking her. I glared at her, her eyes widened with tears streaming down her face.

I spoke to her in a low growl.

"Don't ever talk to me again. You are lucky I am not in the mood to kill you, but by seeing the struggling look on your face, it just makes it oh so tempting." .

I squeezed my tentacle tighter around her neck. She furiously put her hooves to her neck, desperately trying to pull it off. She opened her mouth, but all I could hear were her gagging cries for air to breathe.

"How could you love me? I want to know Pinkamena. How could you love me after you clearly know what I've done. You haven't even talked to me about it!! All you wanted to do was invite me to a gathering that I wasn't even ready for, tell the who damn town of my crime again ponykind, and have them be my friend?!?!? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!?!?" .

Her mouth moved as she tried to talk, but nothing came out. I grew annoyed.

"You are a disgrace to me Pinkamena." , I hissed in a whispher. "....A disgrace."

I tightened my tentacle around her neck even more. She squirmed violently, but I held her in place up against the wall. She slowly began to stop struggling.

She was dying.

I could hear her gasps for air become less frequent. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and released the tentacle around her neck. She fell to the floor, loudly coughing and taking in huge gulps of air. I casually walked past her and grabbed my green rings off of her knightstand, slipping them on my legs. I walked back past her and to the door. I stopped as I heard sniffles. I turned my head and looked back at her.

Her blues irises were wide, but her pupils were small as pimpricks. Tears were streaming freely from her eyes. Her straight locks fell over one side of her face as she sat on her haunches, looking at me with utter confusion. I glared at her with my snake eyes and spoke to her in my most serious tone.

"It would be wise to never come near me again, or I will.......end......your......life."

Her eyes widened as I turned my head as I summoned my energy and apparated out of thin air.

I appeared right in front of Twilight's house. Using my telekinesis, I ripped her door open. Twilight and all of her other friends jumped back in surprise.

"Aurora. What are you doi-..." .

"Do not call me Aurora!!!" , I bellowed. "Call me by my formality. The Supreme Leader of The Atmosphere. I want to hear you say it!!!!" .

I sprouted black tentacles from my back, threatening to attack her. She reeled back in horror and bowed. Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy did the same. Twilight spoke to me.

"Please, Supreme Leader of The Atmosphere, don't hurt my friends. I-I just wanted to inform you on what is happening in Manehattan." .

I retracted my tentacles and raised an eyebrow, "What happening in Manehattan?" .

She pointed a hoof to the TV they were all huddled around before I came in. I walked over to them. All of them shivered as I came closer. I turned to the TV and raised the volume so I could hear.

"Channel 5 HOOF News's Miranda Typograph, reporting to you live from Manehattan, Jim. The situation that is unfolding before me is absolutely horrifying. It seems that the storms from the west have brought a terrifying sight to the city of Manehattan. As you look over there behind me, there seems to be a 90 foot wall of water, coming towards the city!!! Everpony get out of here now!!! The thing is coming too close Jim!! We have to get out of here!! Turn of the camera!!! Turn off the camera!!!" .

The feed went back to the news anchor.

"As you saw in that live feed, a tidal wave seems to be heading right towards Manehattan and other surrounding areas. Anypony living in the area must get to a high story building immediately. And we seem to have another live feed from one of our brave correspondants in Manehattan. I understand you have a shot of the tidal wave from your viewpoint, is that right Mark?" .

The feed went to the reporter.

"Yes Jim!!! Pegasi Eye In The Sky Mark Zeiss, reporting to you live from Manehattan!! I'm flying here right over the Liberty Island, next to the statue! There's a lot of lightning and rain here! It just got started around 7pm, Eastern Standard Time! And uh........oh my god..........Oh my god!!! Get the camera there! Get the shot! Get the shot!"

The camera pointed to the Statute of Liberty.

"Holy Hell!!! Do you see that Jim?!?!? Do you see that!!!???!? Oh my god!!! It's engulfing the entire island!!! Oh my god!! Oh my god!!!"

My heart literally stopped for a second.

I looked back to the others. They were frightened to their very core. They remained bowing, daring not to speak.

I looked back the TV.

A tidal wave. In Manehattan. From my cold front.....? Impossible. Cold fronts only produced winds up to 80 miles per hour. You need 50x times the speed of wind to create a tidal wave that big. It's obviously not a storm surge from a hurricane. Hurricanes are not due until three months from now, and I know that because I'm the one who set the climate that way.

So why in the hell is this happening??!?? What disturbance in the Atlantic Ocean caus-....................no way.

My mind went back to just a few hours ago when I slammed into the ocean.

"........no......"

My mind then went back to when I created the giant water crater.

".....no......"

My mind then went to when the water that was pushed from below, rose to the surface.

Even though the water shot up in the air as a huge spout, the water below that rose to the surface had nowhere to go but outwards once it surfaced.

My mind then went back to when I looked down and saw the water rise and fall as I flew over the swell.

"NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" .

Twilight and her friends huddled into a corner as I began to panic wildly.

"THAT SWELL OF WATER WAS A WAVE!!!!!! IT WAS A WAVE!!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!"

I screamed as my mind pieced the puzzles together.

The tidal wave was from my impact I made in the ocean on from earlier that afternoon.

I took a look at the TV, and gazed in horror at the destruction I was creating.
