The Aurora Boreallis

It felt like it was still night time as the clouds turned into complete blackness. I was staring off into the sky as I held Midnight in my arms. It had been a few hours since she had stopped crying. Not that I was impatient....it's just that, nevermind. I clearly knew the reason why she was in this state. Not only did her parents mistreat her in a mental and caring way, I almost froze her to death.

But I swear......I didn't even know.......a state of emergency was issued by the New York weather patrol on that night.

Oh right.....she was nowhere near civilization at that point.

I then lowered my head so I could look at Midnight. She wasn't asleep. Instead, she was staring at the balcony floor, in deep thought. I saw the back of her head, but I could see the purple mist emitting from her eyes.

I finally mustered the courage to speak up.

"....I.......I'm so sorry........I didn't anypony was out in that weather....." .

Midnight spoke to me without turning her head, "....It's fine.....you were just doing your job....I just got in the way....." .

More guilt began to settle in.

I argued, "....But I was the one causing the storm without checking through the forest-.." .

"How would you have possibly known to even do that until I brought it up Aurora?!? It's ok!" , Midnight spoke.

That tone she used, made me stop talking instantly.

Midnight suddenly continued with her story.

"Thankfully I wasn't dead. I was just dehydrated. I was just about to pass out when I heard a pair of hooves crunch in the snow ahead of me. I could hear it because the wind had died down a little. The sound of hoofsteps became louder and louder until I heard them stop in front of me. I slowly lifted my head off of the ground and looked up. As soon as I saw those pair of eyes, I jumped back. I've never seen anything like that before. Moreover, I've never seen anypony like him before. He looked, strong, powerful, like a king, of course judging from the crown he had on his head. He held out a hoof and spoke to me, "Come with me young one....if you want to live." . That kind of scared me, but what choice did I have. With that final decision, I decided to let go of my old life, and start a new one. One that is better and more rewarding to me. He brought me here to his castle, taught me everything he knew, and before I knew it......I began to transform...." .

She paused as she rubbed her red horn with her hoof.

"It didn't happen spontaneously, it happened in stages. I had to excel in massive amounts of dark magic to become who I am now at such a young age. It took Sombra nearly his whole life to achieve it. I learned it in less than 3 years starting when I was still a filly. I wanted to learn so much about magic. I wanted learn so much to where Twilight wouldn't even dare to match my sorcery. To be honest, I never had a grudge with Twilight. I was more upset about my parents than her. And yes, I am clearly aware of what Twilight is doing back at Ponyville. I am like her when she was still in Canterlot. She never gave a cent about friends and friendship. She was too busy in her studies. And that was fine. What wasn't fine was the fact that she was studying under the damn Princess. That was supposed to be me. But no, my parents were too naïve to see it. I would call it jealousy instead of a grudge. That only made me grow stronger in my abilities of magic." .

I paused her, "Wait, Midnight. Forgive me if I'm persuading, but you have the power to take over Canterlot & Ponyville. Why don't you do it now?".

That caused her to turn her head around to face me.

I gulped, thinking I might had rubbed her the wrong way. I took my hooves off of her back. She gave me that narrowed eyed stare, with those eyes as well.

It gave me shivers for a second.

Midnight responded coolly, "Because I am a reasonable pony Aurora. I don't just go spending years in a far away place, get powerful, and go back to the place I left to cast revenge and ruin everpony else's lives. I am not like that, no matter how convincing it looks, and no matter how many opportunities pass by." .

Out of nowhere, she reached her hoof to grab mine, and placed it right back on her backside.

I raised an eyebrow, "....wha-...." .

She turned her head back to staring at the balcony floor and continued.

"I know Canterlot's defense system like the back of my hand. I grew up there. I know all of their departments of defense and so on. And what do I do with that information.....? Absolutely nothing. In a way that I'd never imagined, I care for my sister. We will always be the same......we just......decided to take different paths. She was thrust into a whole another career destiny path; to learn about the importance of friendship.........seriously.....? I would rather eat a parasprite. But I don't have time to look at my sister's achievements, when I should be focusing on my own. On the other hoof, Sombra was taking the time he could to ascend even more in power. He was the one, who wanted to plot revenge. I did learn about his history and how he enslaved the entire Crystal Empire, but I didn't pay much attention to that. I was so busy focusing on my own practice of magic. I would do it day and night, just hoping to get a little better. Hell, I got a lot better. Faster than I could even keep count..........then.......it was that day........when......." .

Midnight was choking up again. I didn't want her to cry. I was learning so much about her troubled past, I wanted to help her, but I wouldn't be able to retain the information if she started crying for 5 hours.

I rubbed her back even more and spoke, "Midnight. It's ok.....tell me what happened...." .

Midnight stopped choking up a little and spoke while fighting back from breaking down in the best way she could.

"It was right after the day when I received some news from the shadow guards that the entire city of Canterlot was attacked by a life form named Queen Chrysalis and her army. I used bridging so I could see the whole thing.  Princess Cadence turning into a monster, Celestia being cocooned up, the constant attacks were endless. But when Shinning Armor and Cadence summoned The Element of Love, even when I was in bridge, my soul was blow back all the way to my physical body. That really hurt. In fact, it burned. That was something I didn't want to run into again." .

My mind went back to when The Element of Love ignited within me when I was being drained by Chrysalis herself.

".....I probably won't feel that anymore...." , I thought to myself as I placed a hoof to my heart.

Midnight was still talking.

"It was after that.......that I saw a bright light pierce through the black sky. It-.....it formed into a cutie mark.....and it was that cutie mark that I knew all too well. It was Princess Celestia's. The cutie mark flashed a massive golden light over the entire Crystal Empire. King Sombra quickly guided me to a cabin behind the crystal throne. The last thing he said to me was, "Be safe, and remember everything I had taught you. Long Live The King." . After that, he closed the door and hid it from outer view. I was hidden right under the crystal throne. The next thing I heard were lots of crashes and explosions. I wanted to see what was going on. So at a moment's notice, I bridged myself out of my physical body so I could take a look. I flew out of the collapsing crystal empire and looked back. Celestia's cutie mark was vaporizing the entire place. Every black crystal that stood was evaporating into the air. It only took seconds for it all to disappear. The Crystal empire had a new face. The grass was green, the crystals were all white and gleaming. I didn't know what the hell was happening. But no sooner than that, in a bright flash, The Crystal Empire Disappeared, along with my physical body. I was really scared at that time. If I didn't return to my body soon, I would remain a ghost lost in this world forever. So as soon as glowing cutie mark of Celestia disappeared, I flew South as fast as I could. It was literally a fight for survival. Two days had passed and I was still flying around, searching for my body. I was flying so fast, I didn't see a glimmer of crystals pass me. I screeched to halt and looked back. It was The Crystal Empire. Different looking, but it was back, and not too far from the Frozen North either. There was still heavy snow and mountains around. I zoomed towards the empire, but I was met a with smack to the face. I recoiled back and opened my eyes. There was a blue shield covering the empire. I almost cried right there. I couldn't get through. I was truly about to be a floating black shadow for the rest of my life.........until another shadow appeared beside me. I saw those eyes. It was him. King Sombra. He told me, "Do not worry my student, I managed to apparate before the sun glare could get me. Now, stay here and out of danger, while I retrieve your body, and take back my empire!" . As if on cue, the bubble that protected the empire, faded away. It was perfect timing. I floated away while Sombra charged in. However, the shield appeared again, cutting off half of his horn. But I saw his horn absorb into the ground. He had successfully breached in. To our luck, the bubble shield permanently faded away. I saw everything being re-crystalized to its normal black luster......then......I saw....something within the center of the empire. Sombra was on a tall crystal pillar rising to catch something that was glowing, along with what seemed to be a baby dragon falling with it. Then out of nowhere, Cadence grabbed both the dragon, and the glowing crystal. Cadence flew back around to the center building and placed it in the two columns.......then.......the most frightening sight came before me......" .

Midnight had once again started to sob, but I wasn't going to have it. I needed to know what happened.

I turned her head around to me and grabbed her cheeks with both of my hooves, "Please Midnight, you must tell me what happened. Tell me." .

She wiped her eyes, "....I'm sorry.....it's just that.....I've never told anypony else about my past.....you're my first....but if you wish, my k-......" .

She paused dead for a second. She even stopped crying.

I asked, not knowing what she was acting like that for, ".....Is something wrong Midnight....?"

She violently shook her head, "Nothing! Nothing.....Aurora...." .

I responded, "Then please....if it's not too much trouble......tell me what happened......" .

She looked down while facing me. I had her in my lap the whole time. I wanted to make her feel comfortable when telling me this. Although she's still a complete stranger, my heart still has a bit of decency left in it.

She continued once more.

".....he......he began to form glowing cracks all over his body.......he screamed so loud in pain.....I.....I could even hear it from across the empire. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was so gruesome.......but I was horror-fixed; meaning I couldn't turn away. Then in an instant.......in a bright flash of light.........his body exploded. I had lost it. I lost all control. I didn't know what exactly happened after that, but I can tell you how this empire returned back here to where it is now. I never felt a surge of power like I did just there. I was screaming so loud, anypony across the world could hear my cries of the death of my mentor.......my father. All I could see, was transformation. The entire Crystal empire was cracking and turning back into it's normal black luster once again. This time, it was consuming the entire empire. I could see all of the ponies that lived there, run out of the empire. I also saw several ponies, along with Cadence, Shinning Armor, and Twilight, run out of the empire and onto the snow. I'm glad they did, because what I did next, was something Sombra wasn't able to do right then. I didn't know what I was doing. All I knew was that I was screaming in sorrow in my bridge form. Yet, a black shadow identified my presence. All of the ponies forcefully migrated out of the empire, standing back a good distance from it. My shadow from my body grew larger and larger. It enveloped the entire empire. And within minutes....it disappeared out of thin air. At that point, I blacked out.......I had lost my energy. When I woke up, I couldn't see much. And it felt like I was in a confined space. Then my memory retain every bit of information of what happened a while ago. I used my magic to blast the cabin door open. I stepped out and looked behind me. It was the crystal throne. I quickly ran to the door to look outside. Everything was normal, meaning, covered in snow, black cloudy atmosphere......I did it.....I had brought the empire back home. The remaining 5,000 shadow guards that survived the transportation found me, and brought me a letter........it was Sombra's will. That broke my heart........because of the fact that he knew he was going to die.......but why.....? Why do this now......? There was so much I had to learn if I ever wanted to fulfill my destiny.......hell, I didn't even know what my destiny was. I was too devastated by the loss of Sombra's death. The servants took it really bad too. But I should've pay more attention to them. They we're crying mostly because of his death, but they also bowed when I walked through the main hall. The guards did the same thing when he presented the will. It was confusing at first. I knew all the guards and servants there. Why were they all bowing to me...? It was only after I read the letter.........that.......that I was to succeed his throne, as Empress of The Crystal Empire & Queen of Shadows. It was scary at first, but it was a dream come true. Ever since I was a filly, I just wanted to be loved by the right person, and learn magic. Sombra gave me that. He was a father to me. Better than my parents could even do. He was also my mentor, and gave his life to make sure I was to be left with safety, and something to remember him by. That something, was the empire. I cried for a whole hour, in front of the servants, in front of the guards, in front of everypony that was in the main hall. I didn't care. So many things were happening to me. Sombra's dead. I am now Empress. My mentor is dead. I have fulfilled my destiny. It was all of them at the same time. But I finally took it first hand. I fulfilled his final wish.....to rule the empire until eternities end." .

Midnight turned her head to me. She didn't give a stare. Instead, she stared at me with a soft smile, a couple tears in her eyes.

".....And I heard that you were seen in Ponyville for the first time in eons." .

I snapped back out of the story trance and looked away, ".....Well...yeah.....I kinda crash-landed there..." .

"I never had interest into the weather......until I saw you and your outrage with Pinkamena....." .

My mind stopped working for moment, for I no longer needed it to remember that scene.

I stuttered while finding the floor really interesting to look it, "...I.....I....But she-...." .

She put a hoof to my lips, "Shhhh........it's ok. I know your anger Aurora. Everypony knows your anger, and they don't even realize it. Of course, they really don't want the real thing. Pinkamena had to deal with that punishment." .

I looked at her in shock. And I thought Trixie was the only one spying on me, now, an Empress was watching me too....?

Midnight continued, "I've observed you for the past week since your reappearance into the public world. It has treated you unfairly, and they didn't need to pay for that, but I believed one thing could've have been done to avoid the destruction." .

She narrowed her eyes and leaned in to my face.

Not again. Just....not again. I don't want to anymore.

I moved back as she missed my face, "Please. I don't want to be loved anymore.....two things could happen if I try it again: I could kill you on accident, or something else might happen to where I have to leave you forever like I did with Trixie. So just.....no." .

I backed away slowly to get her off my lap.

That seemed to be a royal offense to her.

In a swift motion, Midnight rammed my body into the balcony wall. Now she wasn't playing around.

I coughed as the wind was knocked out of me, "Midnight! What are you doing?!?! Stop it!!!" .

I moved my head to the side as she tried to forcefully kiss me again. I looked at her. As if the perfect position was stated, the lit up torch posted over the balcony wall, casted a shadow over her entire face. All I could see were her angry glowing eyes as she stood over me.

Those same eyes I possessed as well.

"Face it Aurora!!! This is the main reason why you came here!!! You wanted to be loved!!! You've been in hiding for over 5,000 goddamn eons, complaining about how nobody is around you to share your life with!!! I've been through your history!!! It's the main reason why you came here!!!" , Midnight roared.

I protested, "What are you talking about?!?! That feeling came as soon as I starting living in Ponyville!!! I crashed landed there on accident!!!! I don't know what this kind of love felt like!!! All I knew was that I wanted more!! I never had this intention before I crashed!" .

Midnight rolled her eyes, "Not that part, idiot!!! Remember?!?! March 28th, 1167!!! You were in the clouds of the spring sky on the Northern Hemisphere, wrapping up Winter while the weather patrol over Prance did half of the work. You were constantly thinking about how you too, wanted to have a partner, especially since the capitol is one of the most romantic places to be in!!!" .

I shook my head in denial.

Midnight took her armored hoof and slapped it right across my face.

She screamed, "Open your mind Aurora!!!! Remember!!!" .

The force of her slap caused me to temporarily black out. Then that's when my mind came into focus. My mind went back exactly to that moment she was talking about. I saw myself, sitting on a cumulus cloud, watching the night life of the capitol of Prance go about. Zooming in my vision, I saw various couples having fun and going about their lives.

My mind came back into reality, and so did the sting of my face from that slap.

"Do you see it....? Do you see what you have longed for more that maintaining this atmosphere...?" .

I wasn't too worried about how she knew about my history. No. Right now, I was fighting emotions, within myself. Of all the mares I had eyed, and lately been having experiences with, I.......I......didn't realize what love was doing to me.

Turning me into a monster.

My eyes began to water, "But I don't understand.....? How did this happen so fast.....? All I was doing was eyeing that one pony.....uh....Vinyl, with the music back at the welcoming party that was thrown for me. I didn't even get a chance to talk to her. Then, Pinkie Pie came into view......then............no........no........no!" .

My eyes were wide with the biggest realization of my life.

They.......were........never..........betraying me......

Everything that has happened within the past week.......had finally ended, for me to reflect.

I spied on a college class in Canterlot.

I created an Aurora.

I cramped my wing and smashed into Ponyville.

I was greeted by Daymare Sun.

I scared eveypony by disappearing into a lightning bolt.

I was welcomed by the entire community, regardless of my behavior.

I fell in love with Vinyl....but never got a chance to talk to her.

I passed out after eating a cupcake from Pinkie Pie.

I woke up, chained to a table.

I was sexually assaulted by Pinkie Pie.

I allowed it to happen because it felt so good to be loved that way.

I met the rest of the elements of harmony.

I started to call Pinkie Pie, Pinkamena after she told me her story.

I took Pinkie Pie to the skating arena.

I was greeted and welcomed by a crowd of 200,000.

I created the worst skating accident in recent history.

I scarred the entire crowd when I flew into the catchfence, and smeared blood across the ice.

I respawned in front of everypony at the arena.

I met Galaxy for the first time in years.

I brought him back with me.

Pinkie Pie began acting strange.

I was chased by a swarm of Pegasi.

Galaxy got raped by Daymare Sun on his first day in the public world.

Pinkamena mouth raped me with her tentacles during her heat.

I woke up the next day.

I took a trip to the weather factory.

I lost my sanity.

I created a supertyphoon.

I blew a hole into the ocean.

I lied to Daymare.

I abandoned Galaxy.

I destroyed a city with a assault of tornadoes.

I was sexually tortured by Trixie.

I released a great deal of dark energy.

Midnight found me.

Present to this night.

Tears began rolling down my eyes as I reflected on everything that has happened to me this past week. This whole time. I had allowed my emotions to control me, therefore creating dark energy, letting it take over my power.

I finally see it. I finally see what I had done.

I started crying right in front of her. She sat in front of me and placed her hooves on my shoulders.

I flinched and brushed them off, "....N-no! Stay away from me! You saw it all! Everything that I have done! My whole life! Destroyed! All because I have some f*cking emotional problems!!...." .

I was literally bawling in tears. I had found out the missing clue to everything that had happened to me.

It was me all along.

Midnight placed her hooves on my shoulders once again.

I was getting fed up, "STOP IT!!!" .

I brushed them off forcefully. The moment I did that, was all she needed to confirm.

She charged and pinned down to the ground.

I squirmed violently, "GET AWAY FROM M-ME!!! I DON'T WANT ANYPONY ANYMORE!!!! STOP!!!! NO!!! NO!!!" .

I was crying in between sentences. I managed to squirm enough to sit up. But soon as that happened, she pushed me against the wall, knocking the wind out of me once again.

I yelled while grabbing her hooves with mine, trying to push her off of me, "NO!!! NO! PLEASE STOP! NO!! NO!" .

It was all I could say. I didn't want to be loved anymore. It would drive me insane to the core, especially now that I know what it does to me.

With my last ounce of energy, I held her hooves and tried pushing them away from reaching my face, as a last line of defense. I was so tired, physically, and mentally. I had destroyed my life, my family's name, and killed many others. I didn't want to think anymore.

I glanced over at a nearby clock. The time read, 11:58pm

My strength finally gave out. She leaned her head in, and my lips met with hers.

I squirmed and yelled through the kiss.

"NO!!! NO!!! No!! No!!.....no......no.......nnnnnnnghhh.........nnnmm......" .

My eyes slowly narrowed as hers did the same.

I couldn't talk anymore. Her tongue was in my mouth.

My breathing slowed down as I once again, felt that same feeling of being violated through my mouth. This was actually the first time I had refused to comply with an advancing mare. I put up a good fight, but she was stronger than me.

As she closed eyes, her body moved closer to me until I could fee her cold armor press against my body. My hooves were no longer trying to push hers away, instead, I was holding her hooves gently. My body began to feel very warm. The pain I felt from the dark energy riding within me..........began to fade away. Our hooves lowered to the ground as she broke them away from mine and placed them on my cheeks. She grabbed my face and kissed me deeper. I felt her tongue licking inside my mouth at a slower pace.

As my eyes began to close, I peered over to the clock on the balcony wall.

The clock struck midnight.
