Karma

The atmosphere was quiet. All  the ponies in the library were ready to jump out of their hiding places with any sudden movement. Whether it be from Twilight, who should be arriving soon, or from anypony around them. It was times like this where people got a true feeling of excitement that could only be created by a party. A festivity that brought them all together; along with each pony's special talent to create a night full of non-stop celebration.

The lights went out, and they knew that the next pony to walk through that door would be the Princess thinking that nopony knew it was her birthday.

Meanwhile two ponies that could not be seen were struggling to keep the also unseen prank in control.

"Rainbow Dash, I don't know how much longer I can hold it up!" Pinkie Pie whispered trying not to make much noise. "Maybe we won't be able to pull this off after all," she said, sounding defeated.

"No way, we can't give up now. We've put way too much planning into this to give up that easily!" Dash whispered, sounding frustrated. Out of seemingly nowhere they heard a loud 'snap' and looked up to see nothing.

"Uh oh..." Pinkie mumbled, then in an instant they felt the dust all over themselves and an invisible force hit Rainbow Dash in the back of the head, knocking her down to the floor.

The door opened, the lights went on and everypony yelled, "SURPRISE!!!" The music went on and everyone in the library came to life and began to dance and socialize while Twilight was in total shock that every one came to celebrate her birthday. But then she began to wonder.

'Wait, something's missing...' she thought.

"Happy birthday, Twi!" Applejack greeted along with Fluttershy and Rarity.

"Hey guys! I can't believe what a party you guys threw," Twilight looked around in disbelief.

"Oh darling, it was all Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash's idea. They've been planning this for months now and they even went out of their way to hire a professional DJ named Vinyl Scratch. A very accomplished one, at that, from Canterlot. I suggested some classical music, I mean you are a Princess now, but Rainbow Dash insisted upon having her provide the music," Rarity chimed.

'That's what's missing!' Twilight concluded. "Speaking of which, where are those clever ponies?"

"Huh," Fluttershy looked around for her friends, "Oh no! I know that they'd be here for sure. What if something bad happened to them?"

"Oh Fluttershy, I'm sure that they're pranking people left and right, right about now."

"You're half right." A familiar voice called out.

"Rainbow Dash, where are you?" Twilight answered.

"Happy Birthday Twilight!" A cheerful voice yelled, scaring Fluttershy half to death."What's wrong, Fluttershy? Oh yeah! Rainbow Dash, they can't see us!"

"Oh yeah, I guess the effects don't wear off for about 30 minutes. This should be fun, even though our prank on Twilight might not have worked we can still pra-"

"Pardon me, but why can't we see you, and what's this about a prank on Twilight!?" Applejack said, not sure of where to look.

Pinkie Pie, who was standing right in front of her, replied "Oh well, you see, we had this huge pra-"

"Ugh, Pinkie Pie, how many times do I have to tell you? It's top secret!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.

"Oh yeah, secret." Pinkie Pie giggled. "Sorry Applejack it's top secret." She said turning back to her friend.

Rainbow Dash face hoofed shaking her head slightly.

"Oh, never mind. Twilightm we had this huge prank planned on you as a surprise party birthday prank. We planned on putting this magic dust we got from Zecora all over you to make you a party animal. But it ended up literally crashing down on us although the dust doesn't even work..." she started to feel woozy "I don't even feel like part-"

There was a loud thud followed by a second one. Before anypony could react, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie materialized before them and were knocked out laying unconscious on the floor. Without a word their friends picked them up and took them to Rainbow Dash's condo.

Once they made it to the house, Twilight casted the cloud walking spell on Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy and Twilight flew them up and set them down in the front living room, which was a mess. Disregarding the clutter, the two ponies made sure their friends would be okay for the night. After exiting the building, they decided to head back to the party saying "We'll party for Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie!"

The next morning after Twilight's party, that lasted till about 4 in the morning, two stallions began to come back into consciousness.

Pinkie Pie woke up with a huge headache. "Ugh, what happened?" His voice was still very high pitched seemed different. "Rainbow Dash?" He called, testing his voice. He looked to his left and what looked like his friend began to nudge his side.

"Huh..." a dazed Rainbow croaked in an unusually gruff voice. He finally looked at who was nudging him, and both their eyes went wide.

"Who are you and how did you get in my/this house!?" The two did a double take and stumbled backwards a bit. "Pinkie Pie/Rainbow Dash is that you?" They examined each other then themselves.

Rainbow Dash flew out of a nearby window, with tons of thoughts ringing in his head. 'What is going on? Ugh, what's up with my wings? They're totally heavy right now. That was Pinkie Pie? I have to go back and see what's up.' She turned around and headed back towards his house, aiming for the window he'd just left from.

Dash glided back in through the window and looked around for his friend, and saw a stallion that looked like Pinkie Pie staring at the mirror in the living room. Pinkie's reflection was of a bright pink earth pony. He had a mane that was brighter than his coat that was curly and short. Pinkie Pie was a male now and his eyes were in disbelief at what he was seeing in the mirror. Dash stepped forward to see his own reflection.

His once long locks of rainbow coloured hair were now short and spiked, but still flushed its radiant rainbow hues. He gasped; both of them had turned into stallions. They sat in silence the air was uneasy and quite frankly just uncomfortable.

  At last Pinkie Pie spoke up. "Why are we stallions?"

"I don't know what happened, honestly. This doesn't make any sense." She looked up at her friend, ready to break out in tears.

"What do you think we should do?" Pinkie, said as he came over to comfort his friend.

"I'm not sure what we can do." Rainbow replied. It was a lot to take in. Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were in distress. They felt as if they had no one to go to. But honestly what do you expect from two mares who for no known reason turn into stallions overnight?

The doorbell rang, echoing throughout the silent house. Their hearts stopped and they were shaky as they realized who it would be coming to the door to check on them. It had to be their friends. Rainbow tiphoofed to the door and looked through the peep hole. Surprisingly it wasn't their friends. It was the local mailmare, Derpy Hooves.

Forgetting the state that he was in, he opened the door up. "Hey Derpy!" He said in his deeper voice immediately realizing that she wouldn't know who he was.

"Uhhm, is that you Rainbow Dash?" Derpy asked, confused by the male version of Rainbow Dash.

"Oh, um... ha ha no I'm her..." He stumbled trying to think up a story.

"He's her brother, Rainbow Blitz." Pinkie Pie proclaimed, joining Rainbow and Derpy at the door and giving 'Rainbow Blitz' time to breathe.

"Uh, yeah, and this is my good friend... uhh Bubble Berry." Rainbow stammered anticipating the next question that would be asked.

"Oh, well, it's very nice to meet you guys," Derpy Hooves replied cheerfully, "but where's Rainbow Dash?"

"She's out of town, um... doing some extra training," Dash replied, covering up the fact that the real Rainbow Dash was standing right in front of her. "She asked me to watch her house for her."

"Okay, well here's her mail," Derpy Hooves nodded, handing him the mail.

"Thank you!" Pinkie Pie said, closing the door.

'How did he know my name?' Derpy thought.

"That was a close one." Dash sighed. "Hey, nice quick thinking on the name there. You saved my flank!" Rainbow joked.

"Yeah, but you almost gave us away when you talked about what 'you were doing'. Also, I like the name you gave me... 'Bubble Berry'. It's got a nice ring to it, I like it!" Pinkie cheered and fell to the floor laughing. Dash joined him on the ground and started laughing with him.

"Okay, Bubble Berry, you think we should start going by these names now?"

"I don't see why not Rainbow Blitz!"
