"We are gathered here today in celebration of a momentous occasion..."

Today was certainly a special occasion in the shining, glistening city of Canterlot. Last night, Twilight Sparkle had undergone a magnificient transformation by Princess Celestia, by turning her faithful student into an Alicorn. Not only an Alicorn, but an Alicorn 'Princess'. Twilight had now realised the true reason as to why she was sent to Ponyville all those years ago, and why Princess Celestia had hand picked her to be her pupil and student: All the adventures she shared with her friends; overcoming evil, personal demons and learning the importance of friendship would always have led up to this moment. It was her destiny all this time....

Time.

As Twilight stood behind closed doors at the royal palace in Canterlot, her mind was racing with a million thoughts at once. She was still experiencing the very sudden change from herself being a normal unicorn pony; living happily in Ponyville with all her friends, to suddenly an Alicorn Princess; living in full royalty and glamour. This change was obviously huge. Would it affect her relationship with her friends, or anypony for that matter? What would happen now?

But the one thought in her mind that stood out completely above the rest, was simply a brown-coloured time traveling stallion with a big blue box, and one of her most trusted friends.

The Doctor.

What would the Doctor think about all of this? Would he be happy? Would he be sad? Or would he just stand and simply laugh at Twilight's new wings. She had absolutely no idea what his reaction would be. Twilight had not seen The Doctor in a very long time however. Ever since the arguement that she and the Doctor both shared from their last adventure together involving the safety of Twilight, The Doctor had not been seen throughout Ponyville in months.

There were only very few that knew of Twilight's adventures with the Doctor. Pinkie Pie was the only friend of hers that truly knew, all because of her nature. Everypony would simply think that her talk of a mysterious time traveling pony was Pinkie... well... just being 'Pinkie'. Twilight's adventures with the Doctor was everything to Twilight. She had never experienced anything as close to her time with the Doctor. She was constantly saving worlds and defeating evil empires that could have potentially destroyed Equestria, and even other universes.

After Twilight was taught about the full purpose of her journey by Princess Celestia, and the fact that she was now an 'Alicorn Princess', it was announced throughout Equestria that the next day would be the grand Coronation of the new Princess: Twilight Sparkle. She and her friends would all stay in Canterlot that night in preparation for the coronation the coming morning. But of course Twilight could not sleep that night. Nopony could have. Her mind and body were still adjusting to the fact that she was now a princess, and she actually had wings.

Twilight's mind finally came back to the present. She could hear Princess Celestia presenting her final words to the audience.

"Don't worry, everything's going to be fine," Twilight thought to herself.

"Filles and gentlecolts. May I present, for the very first time...."

"I do hope he's here...."

"Princess Twilight Sparkle!"

The palace doors suddenly opened. Twilight knew what she had to do. She put on a brave face and walked

"The Princess Twilight cometh. Behold, behold..." The voices of the choir ponies ringed throughout the entire kingdom. With everypony staring at Twilight in absolute awe, she still thought to herself whether the Doctor was out there. Somewhere...

Twilight stood up to where Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Cadance were all positioned. Twilight felt a sigh of relief when she saw all her friends standing alongside her. Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie were all there beside her in their best atire. Twilight's heart began to glow when she saw her number one assistant, Spike, present to her with the crown that she had worn the very first day that she realised she had made five new friends. The crown fitted absolutely perfect on her mane. She looked over to her friends, in which they gave her praise and encouragement.

At last, there she stood. Princess Twilight Sparkle, in all her beauty and glory alongside her fellow Princess's of Equestria. Twilight, followed by Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and all her friends then walked out to the balcony to see all the ponies celebrating below the castle. The sight was astonishing to Twilight. There were thousands of ponies all lined up to catch a glimpse of their newly crowned Princess. A mighty cheer erupted when Princess Twilight Sparkle was finally seen, and let out a small wave to the ponies.

"Could The Doctor be out there? Twilight thought.

As Twilight continued to wave to the cheering public, Princess Celestia put a hoof on Twilight's shoulder.

"Say something, 'Princess'." Celestia said.

Twiight's mind stopped and focused back on the present. The Doctor was now at the back of her mind.

"Oh, um..." Twilight cleared her throat and began to speak to the large crowd.

"A little while ago, my teacher and mentor, Princess Celestia sent me to live in Ponyville. She sent me to study friendship, which is something I didn't really care about," Twilight then turned towards her friends, "But now, on a day like today, I can honestly say I wouldn't be standing here if it weren't for the friendships I've made with all of you..."

Once again, the Doctor came back to Twilight's mind. As much as she wanted to tell everypony about this fantastic stallion that has saved the lives of everypony in attendance so many times without them even knowing, she knew that she would be heard and seen as crazy and not thinking straight.

Twilight continued as her five friends stepped forward, "Each one of you taught me something about friendship. And for that, I will always be grateful. Today, I consider myself the luckiest pony in Equestria. Thank you friends, thank you everypony!" Once again, a large cheer erupted by the thousands of ponies below.

As Twilight turned back to head on inside the castle once again, she muttered something under her breath that no pony could make out.

"... Thank you Doctor...."

After the coronation, Twilight was able to socialise with her brother, parents and friends. Today had been such a great day for Twilight. Everything seemed to be absolutely perfect. Well... almost everything. The Doctor was nowhere to be seen. Everytime she talked to somepony, or was stuck in a conversation, she would look behind her shoulder to see whether The Doctor had made an appearance. Sadly, he had not.

After the brief gathering, Twilight was instructed to ride a carriage outside the castle for a parade. Twilight responded happily, but you listened closily, you could hear a small sadness in her voice. As she prepared to board the carriage, Twilight took one final glance around to try and catch a glimpse of the Doctor. Just as she was about to turn her head back, she suddenly saw something out the corner of her eye.

It was him.

The Doctor.

He stood leaning against a wall with his sonic screwdriver in hand. He was wearing a blue coloured suit, as if he prepared for the occasion. Twilight let out a great smile and turned to her puller guards.

"Uh, can you sir's excuse me, for just one minute?"

Before the guards could respond, Twilight was off towards the direction of the Doctor.

"Excuse me, excuse me, sorry, excuse me..." Twilight was getting very anxious now. She hadn't seen the Doctor in months, and she had missed him so much. As she got closer and closer, she could now see The Doctor a lot more clearly. He didn't look the same the last time Twilight saw him. He looked much... older.

His hair was neatly combed, his suit was a bright blue with a red small bowtie. His face let out a small smile, but it looked like he was in some kind of small pain. Not the physical kind, but the emotional pain; the kind you can see if you look very close. Twilight ignored these small distractions and finally made it to the Doctor. He stood up straight like a gentlemen, gave Twilight a smile and bowed very slowly and graciously.

"Your majesty," the Doctor said in a very calm and sophisticated manner.

As soon as the Doctor raised himself up again, Twilight shook it off and hugged him. This was a hug in the making for months, so of course it was very tight. The Doctor did find it kind of awkward, as everypony in the room was now staring at the stallion who was being hugged by the newly crowned Princess of Equestria.

But Twilight didn't care. She held on for a few more seconds and then let him go. The Doctor brushed himself off and began to speak.

"It's nice to see you too, Twilight."

Twilight looked around at everypony to see whether they were too distracted to see what was about to happen. When the coast was clear, she hit him with her hoof.

"OW! Hey, don't all start welcoming me at once!" The Doctor complained.

"Where have you been?! I haven't seen you in months! You could have AT LEAST contacted me somehow! What have you been doing all this time!? Why haven't I -"

Before Twilight could finish, the Doctor put his hoof over her mouth. Twilight did not look amused.

"Ok Twilight. I know you have missed me so much, and I know there are millions of questions going on in your mind, but the fact of the matter is... I'm here now," the Doctor said calmly.

Twilight thought this was all very odd, but she didn't care. She was just so happy that he was here now.

"And I am so thankful you are here! Thank you! Did you see the coronation?!" Twilight asked excitedly.

The Doctor just smiled, "Yes I did. It was a fantastic day wasn't it?"

"It was just perfect!" Twilight beamed, "And now you're here! Everything is just fine!"

The Doctor nodded, but then let out a deep sigh. It didn't sound very promising.

"Are... you okay Doctor?" Twilight asked curiously.

"Oh don't worry about me Twilight, but look at you! Twilight Sparkle: The new 'Princess of Equestria'! Wow that has a good ring, doesn't it?!" said the Doctor. He sounded a lot better, but Twilight knew that something was wrong. But she just shrugged it off once more.

"I know! It's all so sureal! I mean, one moment I'm just a normal unicorn living happily in Ponyville. The next minute, I'm here in Canterlot as the new Princess of Equestria! I really don't know how to think about all of this. I mean..."

As Twilight continued, the Doctor's mind once again trailed off. He knew what was coming. He knew what was about to happen was inevitable. But he would not let it distract him. This was Twilight's day, and he didn't want to ruin it. The Doctor wanted her to have the perfect day. The day that Twilight dreamed of since she was small.

"... Doctor?"

The Doctor's mind once again focused back to the present to see Twilight standing in front of him with a very curious and worried look on her face.

"Are you SURE you're okay? Is there something wrong?" Twilight asked.

The Doctor shook his head, "Trust me Twilight, I'm fine. Today is your day, not mine. This is a day to celebrate! You have a great future ahead of you, Twilight Sparkle, and you deserve it."

Twilight blushed and looked away. "Aw thanks Doctor. Hey! Why don't you come and join the party!? I'm sure my friends will want to see you again!" Twilight beamed.

The Doctor looked over to Twilight's friends. Rainbow Dash was showing off her moves to some members of the famous 'Wondebolts' team. Rarity was impressing a large number of high class ponies with her gossip. Applejack was over near the apertizers. Fluttershy was towards the back of the party, trying not to mingle with everypony. And Pinkie Pie was... well, being Pinkie Pie! She was so happy and excited about the day that she was more crazier than usual, and that's saying something!

"As much as I would love to Twilight, I'm afraid that I cannot stay for long. I have some... business to take care of," the Doctor said, ending the sentence in a very cold kind of manner.

Twilight didn't seem too disappointed, but she knew that when the Doctor had to go, he HAD to go!

"Oh thats a shame. But I expect to see you outside when I'm in my carriage mister!" Twilight said firmly.

The Doctor once again let out a small smile. "Of course, your highness."

Twilight also let out a smile, but suddenly a loud voice was heard towards the carriage.

"Twilight! Your citizens are awaiting your presence!" said a loud and booming voice. Of course, it was Princess Luna. Still, she was unable to give up using her traditional Canterlot voice.

Twilight turned to the Doctor, who once more gave a polite and gracious bow before Twilight told him to stop. The Doctor chuckled, "Well, I guess this is it then..."

Twilight looked confused, "What do you mean by that? I will see you again soon..."

Now this was a moment in time where The Doctor could not stop himself. He let out another laugh, but the look on his face revealed it all. He was scared.

But the Doctor quickly rubbed it off, "Don't worry about me, Twilight. You don't need to wait for me anymore. You are now a Princess of Equestria. You have more important things to worry about than me..."

It wasn't as if the Doctor didn't want Twilight around anymore, far from it in fact. The thought of putting her in danger was still very clear in his mind. And now that she was a Princess, she was too important not only to him, but to every single pony in Equestria. The idea of losing Twilight was too much for the Doctor to handle.

"But don't worry. Whether it be tomorrow, the next day, a month, a year, or even 10 years, we will meet again. You don't have to worry about not seeing me again," the Doctor said with a smile.

As much as Twilight didn't want to see it, she knew it was the truth. Now, being a Princess of Equestria, she could not run off on adventures with the Doctor like they used to. She had an entire kingdom to care and protect.

Twilight tried not to feel sad. A single tear left her eye as she hugged the Doctor once more, "Oh I will see you again, buster! Make no mistake about it!" Twilight said confidently.

As Twilight departed to her carriage, the Doctor could not help but feel the exact same feeling of losing a companion over and over again. He was once again, as he started in his journey: Alone. All of a sudden, a sharp pain hit the Doctor in the stomach. The process was beginning to sink in. It was about to happen.

But not yet. The Doctor would not see it end just yet. With a quirky smile, the Doctor raced back to the Tardis, and started up the engines.

As Twilight made her way through the parade, thousands of ponies cheered from left to right. With what just happened, Twilight didn't feel at all at ease with herself. She didn't feel ready to end what she had with the Doctor. All the adventures and memories between her and The Doctor would stay with Twilight forever. But still, Twilight put on a brave face and smiled and waved at the crowd.

Then out of nowhere, there he was once more. the Doctor. In the crowd, cheering for the new Princess. He gave her a wave and a wink. This made Twilight feel so much happier. She was happy. She was excited for the future. She knew that 'everything was going to be just fine' in the end.

With Twilight's passing, the Doctor also felt happy for Twilight. He felt like he ended everything on a good page between him and her. For now...

The pain came back to the Doctor. He had felt this pain before. Nine times to be exact. He knew what was coming. In a vast struggle, he managed to get away from the cheering crowd. He then looked to his hoof. It began to glow a very glistening yellow. The regeneration process had begun.

"Its started."
