Prologue Pt 2: Death

The Doctor took in a deep breath. He had absolutely no idea what to expect in his new 'pony body'. Could the process actually work with an equine?

The Doctor stumbled to his feet and tried to figure out what to do. He couldn't do it here, thats for sure. In front of all these ponies? He didn't want to 'ruin the spotlight' for their newly crowned Princess. He looked around to find nowhere private and secure. He couldn't do it out here. There was only one place left for the Doctor to begin.

The Tardis.

The Doctor shuddered about using the Tardis as a bomb shelter, but he had no choice. If the Doctor were to die out in the open, he would cause a serious amount of damage to his surroundings. Because the Doctor had stored and kept the process waiting for so long, it would eventually erupt into something catastrophic. The energy could even destroy the royal Canterlot palace!

With his decision made, the Doctor picked himself up and made his way back to the Tardis. The process was growing stronger. The cheering crowd of ponies were now a simple echo in the Doctor's mind. Each step caused him to cringe in terrible pain, but he would not give up. He HAD to make it back to the Tardis. This was not about to stop him. Not this time.

As he became closer and closer to his Tardis, he began to reminisce his adventures with his former companion. The Doctor would always think about his previous companions before he die. All the times that they shared together; when they first met, their first adventure, and eventually their last.

The Doctor was now more determined than ever to reach the Tardis. He had to get back and set the coordinates to take him out of the atmosphere. Nopony was to be around when he dies. The Doctor didn't want to take that risk.

Finally, the Doctor reached the Tardis doors. With a sigh of relief, he managed to unlock the Tardis and stumble in. The Doctor looked above at the Tardis. He had never realised just how beautiful it was until today. His beautiful Tardis.

The Doctor sighed, took off his blue suit and hanged it where he would always hang his suits. He walked very slowly over to the control panel, and just stared deeply down the controls.

His last adventure.

The Doctor finally set the coordinates, and with a flick of the switch, the Tardis set off and began to soar deep into outer space. The roar of the Tardis's engine ringed through the Doctor's ears. The sound of the universe. He then stopped the engines and let the Tardis drift unwillingly into nothingness.

This was it. The time had come. The Doctor turned away from the control panel and stood in position. He had absolutely no idea what was about to happen. True, all the other times he also had no idea what to expect, but this was different. This would be the first time he would die as a pony. Could he actually die? Would the process even work?

The Doctor suddenly closed his eyes. He could feel energy rising within him. Any moment now. The Doctor opened his eyes, took one last deep breath, and said three words.

His last words.

"Onwards and upwards..."

His face then began to shine. Time lord energy began to flow throughout his entire body. He looked towards his hooves. They began to glisten and glow with yellow particles of light. The Doctor prepared himself for what was about to happen. His breathing began to grow heavy. Tears formed from his face. His last thought was aimed directly at his former companion.

And then it happened. A powerful explosion of energy cast itself out of the Doctor's body and caused the Tardis walls to shake and crumble. The Tardis erupted with fire as the Doctor stood, with his arms spread out wide. He was totally unseen through the thick and powerful energy, totally consuming him from sight.

The Doctor could feel change. His face was burning. Everything was dying. With a powerful scream, the energy finally left him. The Doctor was left standing alone in the middle of the broken Tardis.

He was a new man. Or should I say, a new 'pony'.

With everything that had just happened, the Doctor appeared completely stunned. The Tardis looked completely destroyed. He cleaned himself off and cleared his throat.

"Okay. NOW! Lets see here..."

The Doctor looked down at his hooves. They were a completely different colour. From what used to be a brownish coloured body, was now a very distinctive pale orange.

"Orange. That's new, isn't it? That's good! Very good! I like good!"

He then stroked his mane. It was much shorter than before. He stretched it down to eyesight. It was still brown, but a lot darker.

"OHHH! Still not ginger! Even as a pony I am still not ginger! Does being the colour orange still count me as a ginger though? I have no idea... AND I LOVE IT!"

The Doctor jumped and giggled around the destroyed Tardis, excited about his new appearance. The regeneration process seemed to be a complete success for a pony. This made the Doctor a lot happier. Also the fact that he was now in fact orange, not brown. The Doctor was so caught up with everything that he completely forgot about the state of the Tardis.

"Ok, now that we've got THAT all sorted, lets have a look here..." said the Doctor as he jumped towards the control panel. The Tardis was in serious critical condition. It was completely destroyed from the inside and out, and it was now tumbling down towards Equestria at incredible speed.

"Just the way I like it!" The Doctor beamed.

As the Tardis was hurling into the atmosphere, the Doctor fiddled with the control panel, laughing uncontrollably. He had never felt so happy in his life. Maybe the regeneration process was still kicking in, but to the Doctor, this was looking to be a very promising future. Very promising indeed...

"HI HO SILVER!"
