The Midnight Star

chapter 2

I awoke to find that I was alone. Looking around my brightly colored room, I trotted over to the bathroom, I noticed a note on the mirror. hmm, I don't remember leaving that there. It read.

Dear Dagger,

Can you meet me just outside the Canterlot gates, it's urgent!

I knew exactly why he wanted to meet me but I was confused as to why it was outside the limits of the city and not our usual meeting place, at the park next to the swingsHang on a sec... How did this get in here? Did he sneak in while i was asleep? I looked around the bathroom to look for a point in which he might have entered , probably through the window.

I went back to my room and stared at the darkest colored wall, it was a dark shade of purple, I had always liked this wall, I only looked at it when I felt upset and depressed, I think it was because that's where me and Midnight shared

our first kiss.

We were having our third sleep over in a month, we had just become friends and was getting much closer. "hey dagger, erm...have you ever had feeling for someone you know you shouldn't have?" he had asked me and I remember it scaring me, I don't know why maybe it was because I had a crush on him at that time.

I shrugged "yeah but I don't think they will like me in the same way....Plus I gave up on that stuff a while ago"

after that we had sneaked some of the Sweet Apple Cider and Applejack Daniels that my sister kept hidden in her room from mother, and after a few shot of Applejack Daniels I started to get a bit light headed, he had been holding me for an hour and I could tell he was already to drunk to know what he was doing, so when he leaned in to kiss me I tried to resist but he just pushed hard enough to break my barrier.

"Midnight, you don't know what you're doing, you don't really want me. believe me" I remember saying.

He pressed his lips against mine, I don't remember what happened after that, all I know is that it was the best night of my short life.

I looked around my room at the things around me and found my diary, which had been lost since a week after the kiss. I always assumed my sister stole it after I told her to go kill herself for hitting me with it.

The first page I opened was from the night before the kiss.

Dear diary,

Today was an amazing day me and Midnight pulled a prank on some of his bullies they don't know it was us yet but I'm sure they will, the look on their face was priceless and Midnight seemed much more confident afterwards. He is so cute I think I might like him as more than just a friend, I must be going crazy HAHA!! yeah that boats sailed awhile ago. He's coming over tomorrow maybe I should tell him, I don't know I don't to be thrown to the sidelines as just a friend if he doesn't like me back it would kill me from the inside. If only I could read his mind then I could know plus I'm pretty sure he might be gay or something because he sure as hell acts a bit like that sometimes

I put it next to my bed to make sure I didn't lose it I couldn't read much more after that the words were to poorly written

I rushed down the stairs, nearly knocking the family portrait off the wall in my hurry, when I reached the door I picked the keys in my mouth and closed the door behind me, ensuring I had locked it before taking flight towards the city limits.

When I reached the limits Midnight wasn't anywhere to be found, I decided I would wait for a few minutes before I left. After about 10 minutes I was contemplating leaving when he finally arrived, a tear had escaped from his magenta colored eyes "Hey, sorry I'm late. Rainfall won't leave me alone lately." tear started to pour out of his eyes like water falls, his beautiful sky blue coat had started to soak up most of the liquid falling down his face.

I reached my wing around her attempting to comfort him "Look, sweetie, it's going to be alright! I will write everyday and visit every birthday, I promise."  I started to wipe away his tears and that's when I heard him say something that I was sure was my imagination "WHAT?!?"

The look on his face told me the answer I had heard him correctly. I never knew he actually felt this way about me, I had always mused that he might have felt something towards me but that was just a foalish dream

"Errm... I... It's true. I love you. I have for a while" he turned away hiding his face from me.

I reached my wing out once again to pull him closer to me, that moment I knew what I had to do. Our lips touched.

I closed my eyes deepening the kiss, letting my actions speak for me.

Pulling away I said "I love you too" instantly softening my voice knowing that I had just said the truth I had kept bottled up for what seemed like an eternity, when in all reality it was about 3 years.

"Dagger? Can you see me off? Please, it would mean everything to me,"

He gave me his best puppy dog eyes before I replied "Sure I will. I wouldn't miss it for the world"

"Come on, let's go see my brother," he said excitement clear in his voice. I pulled him close to my body with my wing before we set off walking to his house.

When we reached the door I heard his brother rushing around the house packing the last little necessities he could get before the train came for them later.

When we opened the door and started trotting upstairs Heroic Midnight said "Whoa! Hold up!"  he exclaimed looking at Midnight with a concerned look.  "Where are you going?"

"Oh, sorry Heroic. We're going up to my room 'till I have to go, if that's alright." I don't know how many times I had seen her use her puppy dog eyes to get out of trouble after a fight at school but it always seemed to work.

"Alright, have fun. I'll shout up to you when it's time to go."

We hurried upstairs and when we got in Midnight's bedroom he locked the door. "Midnight? Can I ask you something?" I said looking into his eyes, the fur around his eyes still damp from crying.

"Of course. What's wrong?" he looked nervous

"How long have you felt like this about me?"

"For as long as I can remember. You were my first crush." he said giving me a quick peck on the lips before packing what little he had left into a suitcase.

I gave him the coldest look ever "I can't believe you told me this now! Of all times, you choose now, the day you leave. I love you, but we can't be together." tears slowly formed in my eyes.I can't believe this. I should have told him too."it's too much...promise me you will write and visit..."

I could tell his heart sank after that I promise I will. I'm sorry I didn't tell you...I was just afraid of your reaction. I didn't want to be cast aside as somepony you used to know if you didn't feel the same. And we can still be together...it would just be a long-distance relationship." he came closer pulling me into a tight hug, I felt like this was the end of us but I hoped he would stay true to his word.

"MIDNIGHT! IT'S TIME TO GO!" Herioc shouted from below.

"Come on, let's go," I said pulling midnight closer with my wing.
