Luna stood at her nightly post on the balcony of the tallest tower in Canterlot, with a mug of steaming hot cider on the ledge. She brought the mug to her lips with magic and thoroughly enjoyed the warm apple beverage courtesy of the Apple family. As she finished the sip, she saw ten twinkling stars in her beautiful night. Luna focused her telescope at them, wondering what they could be, when she saw that they were comets of different colors. One was blue, another red, one green, and a final one gold. These ones appeared to be following the five in front of them, which were silver like the surface of her beautiful moon. Yet there was a straggler behind the others. This one was a dark shade of red and appeared, by the trajectory it appeared to be heading straight for... "Here." she whispered with fear. "That thing is coming here!" The red comet arced straight for the castle, as the rest of the other faded in different directions, but Luna was only occupied by the threat at hand. "Guards! Guards! Report immediately!" A Lunar Guard pegasus appeared before her in a streak of purple light. His eyes were slitted like a reptile, and bird wings ruffled slightly as they tried to keep him afloat.
"What is it Princess?" he asked. "Comet! Comet heading straight towards us! Collision imminent!" she yelled, her Royal Canterlot Voice coming out again, nearly blowing the guard back, and completely blowing the mug off of the railing. She pointed at the sky and the guard looked. His pupils dilated with fear as he saw the hurling fireball.
"Can you alter its path?" the guard asked. "If you can reroute it towards the hedge maze, we can find it there with a fly-over. We'll see if it an actual comet, or one of Discord's pranks again."
"Ok," Luna whispered, finally calming down. Her horn became enveloped in a midnight aura, as did the comet. It altered its path ever so slightly to the right, hurtling closer by the second. "You can do it Luna." he egged on as sweat formed on her face. The fireball shifted farther and streaked inches past Celestia's tower and impacted with a huge thud, and a flash of crimson light which illuminated the starry sky.
"Lunar Guards" to the maze garden, all pegasus guards to the garden!" he cried flying through the Canterlot sky. Five minutes later they found the smoking crater of the nearly fatal comet. "What is that thing?" one of them asked. "It looks like a hunk of metal to me." said another. The guards burst into conversation to what this thing was, and they were just at thinking that it was an alien probe when it groaned deeply. They reared back in shock. "It's alive!?" one of them cried and fainted. "Get this thing back to the infirmary." said the guard that met Luna. "And remain undetected, I don't want anypony figuring out that we have a suspicious creature in a royal hospital.
"Yes Sir!" two unicorn guards cried, going into the crater and picking the thing up with magic. "What could this thing be..." the main guard asked himself as he watched his two friends trot away into the darkness.
