Chapter 1

Previous Chapter

Dancing Sparkle was alone in a beautiful green meadow. There was some classical music playing, but she couldn't tell where it was coming from. She hummed softly along with it, and, timid at first, but growing more obvious and beautiful, she started to dance. Dancing Sparkle never felt more free as she twirled around in the meadow, leaping and spinning in the air.

Sudennly, the sky got dark and she could hear voices, barely audile at first, but growing louder and louder. They kept repeating themselves. Blank flank, blank flank, they kept on saying. It grew louder and louder untill the voices were more or less screaming. "Stop it! Stop, please just stop!" she cried, her eyes filling with tears. But those voices, those demonic, horrific voices were relentless and just got louder the more she begged them to stop. Now reduced to tears, all she could do was sit there and cry while those voices taunted her. The voices then began to seem to quiet down, much to her relief, but then she realized they were getting lower in pitch, untill it was just a loud, demonic rumble.

"Please, stop!"

Dancing Sparkle woke up with a jolt, breathing hard and sweating like a pig. She looked to her cuckoo clock and saw that it was 6:00 and it was time to get up. The little cuckoo bird was screeching like a madman, which was probally what woke her up. "That dumb thing is finally useful," she mumbled to herself. She dragged herself out of bed and trodded to her little vanity. One look in the mirror and she almost screamed at the sight of her reflection. Her strawberry red mane was sticking out in all directions, her violet eyes were bloodshot, and her lavender coat was tangled in ways that were considered impossible. Even worse, her wings looked like they weren't preened for an whole year. Grumbling to herself, she walked to the bathroom and started a nice hot shower.

When she came downstairs, her mother, Scootaloo, was setting down 19 plates of pancakes, one for each member of their family. Her 16 younger brothers and her father, Triple Lutz, were already seated, and some of them had started to eat.Dancing Sparkle pulled up a chair and dug in to the puffy, sweet pancakes smothered in maple syrup. As she gulped down the first morsels, a thought came into her mind. She tried to concentrate on eating, but she knew she had to ask her mother.

"Mom? Can I ask you something?" she blurted. Before her mom could respond she asked, "Will the ponies in Ponyville tease me for not having a cutie mark like they did in Cloudsdale?"

"Honey, I'm not sure," replied Scootaloo. "But if they do, tell your teacher or tell me."

"And," added Triple Lutz, "you can remind them that they were once blank flanks, too. That's what I did."

"Did it work?" wondered Dancing Sparkle.

"Well, no, but my point is-"

"Not now, Lutzy Wutzy," interruped Scootaloo, who could see that Dancing Sparkle was getting worried. "Let's get you ready for school."

"Mom?" asked Dancing.

"Yes, doll?"

"Can I wear a dress to cover my flank?"

"Um, ok," agreed Scootaloo. "Let's go get you a dress."

The two trotted into Dancing Sparkle's closet. After rummaging around for a bit, Scootaloo held up a lovely pink dress with golden trimming. "I got it from Rarity for a very good price," she explained as she threw it at her. Dancing Sparkle tried it on. It was absolutely perfect! The colors matched her coat so well, the fabric was 30% cloud, 50% silk, and 20% cooler, just the way she liked it, and there were holes for her wing that were just the right size!

Dancing Sparkle took her comb and pulled it through her mane several times before she took a barrette and made a nice ponytail. Then she went downstairs to the front door. SHe saw her father holding her brand new saddlebags. He slipped them on her back then said, "Come on, Sparky Girl, I'm taking to do school." And with that, he grabbed her and flew off to Ponyville Elementary.

Discord stared at his crystal ball as he wached the little pegasus go to school. "Ok," he began, "now let's visit the next girl"
He waved his paw and zoomed in on the next peaceful family.
