Mane Swap

Twilight stood there with her jaw hanging open. Her friends seemed different and she knew why. Apple jack rubbed her temple and looked up at Twilight, dazed. “Wha’ happened..?” She asked looking around.

“I think I used the wrong spell...” Twilight managed to choke out.

“Oh my stars!” Came an exclamation from under some fabric. Rarity burst out of under the silk and galloped over to Twilight skidding to a halt. Rarity examined her friend and gasped. “Twilight... you- you have wings!”

“What..?” twilight looked behind her and gasped, unfolding the unfamiliar wings that were attached to her. “What about my horn!?” She asked, a vicious tone making Rarity flinch. Rarity shook her head and Twilight placed a hoof on where there was supposed to be a horn. Nothing there.  “This is bad, very VERY bad!” Twilight paced and looked at Apple jack. The once earth pony now had a horn. Twilight’s gaze rested on two other ponies, one earth pony and one unicorn.

Rainbow dash struggled to sit up; she finally got up to her hooves and shook her head. “I feel... Different...” She said and looked at Twilight, jaw dropping. “Twilight you have wings!”

“And you have a horn...” Twilight replied.

“Ha! Nice try twilight,” She grinned trying to unfold her wings. She looked back and sat down, a shocked expression present on her face. “WHY ME!?” She cried.

“It’s not just you Rainbow dash.” Apple jack growled. She looked down at Flutter shy, whom lacked wings and a horn and sighed. “Y’all alright?” She finally asked.

“I am!” Something pink flew by and landed next to Twilight. “Yippee! I have wings!” Pinkie exclaimed folding her wings up.

“We are all doomed...” Twilight mouthed to Rarity who also lacked a horn.

“How am I supposed to get ANYTHING done without a horn!?” Rarity panicked.

“Keep calm every pony, I’ll try to figure things out...” Twilight said, but doubted she could do anything without her horn. She paced, sighing. Deep in thought she played event’s  over again. I brought back the shape shifting spell and memorized the numb- That's it! She thought.

“I used the wrong spell...” She murmured, loud enough to hear her.

“what spell did you use..?” AJ asked.

“Species change.” Came the reply.

“Ha! That’s why you READ the spell before performing it!” Rainbow dash gave a cocky smile. “If I were in charge I would have read it and wouldn’t have used the spell.” This had Twilights face light up.

“Yes Rainbow. You would have. But what about getting us out of this mess.”

“Hay, I could get us out of this mess in 10 seconds flat!” Rainbow dash beamed, realizing what she said. “Hey!”

Twilight chuckled. “This situation is in good hooves now.”

Rainbow dash plopped down onto the ground and sighed.

"You will do good, Apple jack will help you." Twilight said.

Rainbow dash looked up at her. “I guess.”

“I’ll go grab some books...” Twilight said, trotting out of the boutique. She entered the library and was greeted with a shocked expression by her assistant. “I... Failed a spell.” She explained quickly. Spike nodded and went back to work. Twilight picked out a few books and breathed. “I think I should get some sleep...” She rushed out of the library, skidding to a halt in front of them. “Here... I need to get some rest okay..?” She gestured to the rising moon. “We all should.” The six nodded before parting ways.

Twilight sighed entering the library. She sat down at a desk and smiled, glad to be home. She heard hooves clopping against the floor and she looked behind her. She examined the Pegasus very closely and smiled. “What can I do for you today..? Soarin.” She asked the wonderbolt, whom wasn’t wearing his uniform.

“I heard what happened. I’m terribly sorry, I hope you can find a way to become a unicorn once again.”

“How did you find out?” she cocked an eye brow.

“Rainbow dash.” He replied.

“well, thank you for the concern.” Twilight bowed her head.

“I also came here to pick up a book I ordered..?” He said.

“Oh yes! Almost forgot.” Twilight smiled. “It’s been a hectic past two days.” She laughed and she took a book out, handing it to the colt.

“Thank you.” He leaned close to Twilight and she blushed slightly, smiling weakly. She yawned and her face turned a deeper red. “Sorry, I didn’t get too much sleep last night.”

“I understand. I never get much either.” Soaring drew back, turning away and trotted out of the library.

Spike grinned, looking up at Twilight, blush still present on her face as Soarin closed door behind him.

“Rainbow dash isn’t gonna be happy with your choice of a colt friend.” Spike teased.

“S-Shut up Spike, you know you shouldn’t tease me when it’s late...”

Spike rolled his eyes. “Let’s go to bed.”

“Yeah...” twilight nodded, in a daze she trotted upstairs. She slipped into her bed and shut her eyes.

Twilight groaned waking up. She stretched, her wings unfolded and then folder back in. “Morning Spike...” She groaned, getting out of bed. She walked downstairs and saw Rainbow dash at the desk.

“Hi Twilight.” Rainbow dash waved a hoof as she wrote something down.

“You know, you could use magic, right..?” Twilight said to the unicorn.

Rainbow dash nodded. She finished writing the note down and rolled it into a scroll and spat the pen out of her mouth. She got to her hooves and smiled warmly at Twilight.

“Something’s not right...” twilight said before Rainbow dash started to attack her with the scroll.

“Stay. Away. From. Soarin.” She growled.

“I’m sorry!” Twilight couldn’t help but laugh. “it wasn’t my fault, honest.” Her eyes gleamed with honestly and Rainbow stepped back.

“Anyways... I think I found something...” Rainbow said. Her rainbow mane covered her right eye as she smiled. She unravelled the scroll and levitated it over to Twilight.

Twilight looked over the scroll over and over. “Wow Rainbow dash... This may help us.”
