Spyro: Being Found

I must hurry. No other dragon must see me come. If HE found this dragon... we would all be doomed. My name is Ignitus. I am one of the many chief dragons in our realm of the world, and I am holding our last hope of surviving in a small wicker basket. He is a purple dragon baby; and even though he does not seem special to you, I must tell you that these purple dragons have master of more that one element. They are rare in our realm of Equestria, and not only are they powerful, but they can become dark and evil at times. So dark and evil, that their scales turn black and their eyes become white. I have seen it. That is why I am here, quickly flying through the trees of our village to a town called Ponyville. He will be safe there until he discovers who he is. But I must not let HIM capture him. If so, he would destroy all of Equestria.

He is a purple dragon as well. His name, is Malavor, and he is a dark, cruel, evil dragon that destroys everything in his path. If he got a hold of this purple dragon baby; well I do not wish to think about that. My flying got me great results as I soon saw the signature lights in their town. I flew down into a grove of what appeared to be apple trees; when I saw the family I was going to give Spyro to.

There was a very old mare inside of a barn-like home, rocking back and forth humming nursery rhymes I recognized. She had green fur and her mane and tail were white with old age. Then there was a strong stallion. He was talking to the older mare about something. I noted as I quietly approached a window that he had red fur. Then there was an orange mare wearing a hat on her tan mane. She was making something. And then there was a little filly that I saw asleep through her closed bedroom window.

This would be the family for the purple dragon. I slowly moved the dragon child down until he was resting on the porch step. His eyes were closed and he was smiling. But something stopped me before I knocked on the large door. I forgot to name him. I approached the sleeping baby dragon and looked at him trying to determine a name for him. Spike? No that didn't fit him at all. Blaze? No he wasn't a fire dragon like me. I finally decided on a simple name: Spyro. That fit him perfectly. I slowly and gently picked out the piece of paper and pencil from under him and wrote:

Hello there,

This is his caretaker. Please take Spyro under your wing, so to speak, and help him grow up. He is being threatened and must remain safe.

Sincerely, His Caretaker

I then carefully tucked the letter with the sleeping dragon and softly knocked on the door before flying away.

Applejack heard the soft knocking on the door and a rustle of leaves as she trotted over to the door to see who it was. When she opened it she looked around to see who had knocked, but saw nopony. But just as she was about to shut the door, she glanced down the steps and gasped. It was a doorstep baby.

"Big Mac! Granny Smith! Come here quick! Look what I found!" She said as she galloped over to them.

"What is it Applejack?" Big Mac asked his sister.

"Yea what's with all the ruckus." Granny Smith said as she sipped some apple cider. Applejack took a deep breath and told them,

"There's a doorstep baby outside." Big Mac's mouth dropped to the floor. Granny Smith dropped her cup of cider.

"Come on! We've got to go get it!" Granny Smith said.

"Big Mac come help me please." Applejack said.

"Okay." And then they both galloped out of the room only to return a moment later with the wicker basket. They both gently set it on the table and sat around it.

"Well, lets look at the cute pony that was left on our doorstep," Applejack said as she reached over to move the little dragon's blanket from his head, when a collective gasp went through all three ponies. Instead of there being a cute little pony like they had expected, they found an adorable, little, purple dragon with orange horns and spikes. The small dragon yawned and opened his eyes for the first time, settling on Applejack.

   He had purple eyes.

   "It's...it's a baby...baby dragon?!" Applejack said shocked.

"Hey look'ie there! It's a note!" Granny Smith said and used her hoof to point at the note.

"Read it aloud Aj." Big Mac said to his sister. She cleared her voice and began to read:

Hello there,

This is his caretaker. Please take Spyro under your wing, so to speak, and help him grow up. He is being threatened and must remain safe.

Sincerely, His Caretaker

They all stared at the baby dragon. He yawned and fell asleep again. "How could anything, anything, harm that adorable dragon?" Applejack thought to herself.

"What are we gonna do Big Mac?" Applejack said to her brother. He looked at her and said something that immediately made her wonder why he decided to say them.

"Were gonna adopt him." Now Applejack's jaw dropped.

"Really Big Mac? Are you sure?" She asked to make sure.

   "Eeyup." He said.

"Granny Smith are you okay with adopting the little dragon uh... (she looked at the letter again) Spyro?"

"Why I'm as sure as I'll ever be!" Granny Smith said happily to Applejack.

"Okay then I guess it's settled. We're gonna adopt the little dragon... (she looked at the paper again) Spyro an nothin' is gonna hurt him!" She decreed. All three of them looked at the small, purple, and sleeping dragon in awe as he slept through all of their conversation. Then he opened his eyes; looked directly at Applejack and yawned. Everyone else laughed.
